What does Nintendo Europe do to follow up Ocarina of Time? Throw a few more side-scrolling titles onto the Virtual Console, of course! At this point, we're starting to think that the VC's subtitle should be something like: All the side-scrolling fun you'll ever need!If all the shooty/fighty games aren't quite your style, there's a little variety, too. Four games -- not a bad week!Available in Europe on this fine Friday: Bio-hazard Battle (Sega Mega Drive) - 800 Wii points Chew-Man-Fu (TurboGrafx) - 600 Wii points Streets of Rage (Sega Mega Drive) - 800 Wii points Sword of Vermillion (Sega Mega Drive) - 800 Wii points

Sure, so you could pick up Excite Truck this week if you're in Europe ... or you could save a few quid and go old school with Excitebike on the Virtual Console! Sorry, sorry ... we just loved us some Excitebike back in the day, and we get a little extra bouncy when we have an excuse to talk about it. If jumping blocky hills isn't your thing, there's a lot more to choose from this week: Excitebike (NES) -- 500 points Kirby's Adventure (NES) -- 500 points New Adventure Island (TurboGrafx) -- 600 points R-Type III: The Third Lightning (SNES) -- 800 points Any of these rev your motor?

And to think, people assume Nintendo's all kid-friendly! Okay, okay, so sometimes the thug lifestyle is a little colorful when it's designed for the Big N. Still, this week's European VC lineup proves that Nintendo's all about being hard ... at least, when it's tongue-in-cheek or in outer space. Check out this wacky trio of titles up on the block today. Any of them strike your fancy? Bonanza Bros. (Sega Mega Drive) -- 800 points Comix Zone (Sega Mega Drive) -- 800 points Gradius (NES) -- 500 points

Only two titles on the Virtual Console this week in Europe, but it doesn't matter, because one of them is Mario Kart 64. So we'll just see you guys on Monday then, right? We recommend two applications of pain cream per day if you want to play at maximum capacity -- it keeps those fingers from cramping up. Mario Kart 64 (N64) -- 1000 Wii points Soldier Blade (Turbografx) -- 600 Wii points

Looks like Friday is update day for the European Virtual Console, though we're not sure why Nintendo wouldn't do all regions on the same day, even despite differences in content from region to region. Maybe they just want things to be confusing for those who obtained a console from a different region! We've included the full list of this month's VC updates for Europe -- and it's pretty extensive! Check it out after the jump.

Thanks to GoNintendo, we've got official confirmation: Gamestop and EB Games will be taking Wii preorders beginning the morning of Friday, October 13th. Though the internal memo so callously stolen and reprinted mentioned nothing of allocation, it's wise to basically just get your arse there as quickly as you can. After all, the PS3 was chaos. Are some of you relieved? Or do a lot of you not even care, as you expect to enjoy the wonderful camping out experience in front of outlets like Best Buy or Target? Whatever your method, be sure to pick one up on launch day ... or we'll point, laugh, and make fun of you in the midst Hyrulian blades and homicidal maniac bunny rabbits.

Nintendo of Europe has revealed that any gamer who takes their copy of Nintendo's amazing Animal Crossing: Wild World online via Nintendo's Wi-Fi service will receive a letter direct from Nintendo including a special gift. The window of opportunity spans Good Friday on through the end of Easter day (this upcoming weekend). Considering Nintendo's past gifts, this is sure to be one sweet surprise.[Thanks Zack McClelland!]
