There are few days more exciting than the launch of a new MMORPG, and the Karos Online folks want to usher theirs in with style. Once the servers come up on April 9th, Galaxy Gate has a slew of goodies for the taking to anyone who's willing to be pioneers in this untamed world. For starters, all new players will receive a "Newbie Potion Pack" to give them a leg up on the world. Enterprising and observant souls can scoop up gift boxes and celebration cakes, the latter of which can be either consumed for a buff or turned in for a spiffy quest reward, including a 12-slot bag and a rare white tiger mount. Even the simple act of leveling enrolls you in a chance to win a fabulous prize bundle! Being a free-to-play title, Karos isn't shy about promoting the one feature that puts food on their tables: the item shop. For a modest fee, players can procure trinkets and potions to protect and serve. These include Protection Capsules (which prevent the loss of items upon death), Guardian Angels (reduce XP loss upon death) and 'Lucky' Fishing Rods (increased chance of gaining multiple fish). While the F2P fantasy market certainly isn't lacking for healthy competition these days, Karos Online hopes to grab a slice of the pie with these tempting goodies. Check out the game when it launches on April 9th and let us know what you think!

Publisher NHN Corporation is poised to release the new free-to-play MMORPG Karos Online in Europe and the US on April 9th, following an extensive beta testing period. The game will launch with two public server shards and a brand new cash shop to give players a freely customizable experience. The Karos servers will be brought down on April 5th to prepare for the launch, along with a planned website outage. The website will be brought back up prior to the launch to run daily contests in order to win in-game prizes on launch day. Karos Online is the product of developer Galaxy Gate, makers of other free-to-play games such as Last Chaos and Laghaim (known as Savage Eden in the West). Karos offers players a free-to-play experience including an economic system involving indepth crafting skills and a consignment market for player trading. Galaxy Gate promises a wide variety of classes and skills and a dynamic dungeon system with shifting passages. It also touts an elaborate PvP system, with guild-based objective-oriented gameplay including castle sieges and control point captures. Karos Online also features impressive visual effects, particularly given its relatively low system requirements. Gameplay videos have been released, showcasing the visuals as well as various gameplay aspects. You can download the client now and try out the game while it's still in open beta. Check it out -- and make sure to visit their website daily for free contests and prizes on the countdown to launch!

It was only the other day when we first mentioned Karos Online, a fantasy MMO in development at Galaxy Gate, which will offer a twist on standard game mechanics with a dual dungeon system. Event dungeons will be limited to five players but battle conditions will adapt to player actions. Maze dungeons, on the other hand, won't have those player caps, and are essentially shifting labyrinths which add more difficulty the further players venture in.If that's caught your attention, Karos Online's publisher NHN released more info today about the game's closed beta test. The closed beta weekend event will begin on Friday, August 21 and last through Sunday, August 23. This first weekend event will let players choose from three different races -- Humans, Shadows, and Seroines -- and one of each race's sub-classes.
