Your dedication will not go unrewarded; full sets of appearance armor (and one set of ... non-appearance armor) are yours for your hard work. We love the signs of spring; the green leaves on the trees; the children playing on the new grass; the annual news from long-in-development MMO, Hero's Journey. We have five new screenshots from the game, and we have to admit, they look absolutely fantastic. Like Darkfall Online, Hero's Journey is perennially on the verge of going into some sort of beta. And like Darkfall, they have promised the stove, refrigerator, cupboards AND kitchen sink to eager players.Hero's Journey features complete character customization, similar to Chronicles of Spellborn; a dual-class adventure progression similar to those seen in Final Fantasy XI and Guild Wars; and a reactive combat system, similar to that seen in Vanguard. We do hope to see Hero's Journey at some point, and look forward to hearing more about its progress next year.[Via Gamebunny]%Gallery-23631%

Solanum of <Sovereignty Warcraft> on Frostwolf thought he had the perfect date idea; a night on a secluded boat, fishing under the starry sky, entertained by dancing trolls. However, his guildmate Lathiria clearly thought otherwise. Need more proof? Well, she had to pay for her half of the flight to Everlook. And when it was time to make the jump into Darkshore, Solanum found out that he'd forgotten his protection (aka light feathers.) Nothing spoils an evening like resurrecting your boyfriend. And then, finally, they're sitting in the romantic boat on the romantic lake, she's wearing an outfit that barely covers anything, and he's ... looking the other way and leveling up his fishing skill? But really, I'm sure Solanum and Lathiria had a wonderful time out. You can't help it that blood elf female look half-naked and constantly bored. Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! NOTE ON WHAT HAPPENED HERE: Basically, I thought today was the 21st and scheduled this post as such. When I realized I was wrong, I somehow managed to click the wrong post and reschedule ... YESTERDAY's post for today. So that's why this morning's AA was yesterday's. It has been removed to its rightful home, and this has been brought forward in time to today. Sorry to all who thought they were going crazy, and a special apology to Nycterun, who had his thunder stolen (and moved through time repeatedly.) If you've read a cursory account of the lore of racial origins -- or if you've been waging a massive war against night elves in Alterac Valley -- you know that many scholars believe that night elves and trolls evolved from a similar ancestor. And knowing night elves, I suspect that Nycterun of <Kiss of Death> on Arathor was not looking to underline the similarities when he "put on" a mojo mask decorating the outside of Zul'Farrak. Nevertheless, if the mask fits, you must equip. *rimshot* Nycterun certainly looks like he could have troll ancestors. A little more slouch, a little more radical of a hairstyle, and a lot more Visine and he could fit right in in Orgrimmar. What do you think? Oh yeah. This is just what I needed after a long day. A hot bath, a couple of candles, and you. Oh, rubber ducky, you're the only one who truly understands me. You're the only one who doesn't make fun of my massive, oversized arms, or call me a space squid, or mock my cousin who tried to take an exfoliating lava bath. If only we could be together! But alas, the anchorites frown on that sort of thing. Don't they understand that a manly man like me has to find something to relax with? (Thanks to Vesuuvius of <Lights to Fight Monsters> on Anvilmar, who I'm sure is less of a pervert than the preceding paragraph made him out to be.) Finlome of Firetree appears to be trying a new method of killing Onyxia. Instead of bringing a raid of forty people, he's decided it would be best to bring himself and a torch. This may sound crazy, but hear me out -- Onyxia's Lair has over fifty dragons in a cave with no apparent ventilation. That thing's got to be FILLED with methane by now. Torch + methane gas + fire resist gear = free Tier 2 helm. It's brilliant! No, wait, it's the dumbest plan I've ever come up with. But it's still less painful than running that instance twenty weeks in a row waiting for Bloodfang. I have yet to figure out if the Naaru have a version of the biblical lake of fire, but if they do, Jayhova (of unknown server) has found it. Of course, he claims that he was tricked into taking an "exfoliating bath" by some gnome pals, only to find that the sauna removed live skin cells as well as dead ones. But we all know that he's being punished for his blasphemous character name. I guess Blizzard is getting really strict on their appropriate naming policy ... Corrupting innocent kitty-cats? Will the Burning Legion stop at nothing? Actually, this is just a pic of the tauren druid Astaggrock from Eonar-EU taking a rest in Zangarmarsh. Astaggrock says he got the Glowing Blood debuff while killing giant fireflies and decided to wait for it to wear off before stealthing for his next attack. With the blackness, the horns and the electricity, he looks ready to pose for a heavy metal album cover. Assuming anyone actually bought music these days instead of just stealing it on BitTorrent. It seems like just today we were talking about how the gallery system received an overhaul at Wii Fanboy. Wait, it was just today! And, now, DS Fanboy gets the same treatment. It's a day of celebration! If you didn't catch the post over there, then here's what changes were made: As you can see above, you may now comment on individual photos in the gallery You may now view photos in two distinct flavors: low-res and hi-res, allowing those of you with teh 56K to cruise around in our galleries and not worry about your computer blowing up We can now add captions on each individual photo in the gallery, allowing us to explain (when needed) what you're looking at and why it's interesting (to us, anyway) The color design of the gallery has also changed to an all-black affair, so hopefully that's better on your eyes than the all-white approach our galleries took before And as with over there, we've embedded a gallery below so that you may go through and see all of the cool new stuff happening in our galleries. Now if you'll excuse us, we're going to start pouring the bubbly. Who wants some?%Gallery-16997%

Two new improvements to announce on this, your favorite site about World of Warcraft. First of all, iPhone and iPod touch users will likely be happy to see that this site, along with all the others in the Joystiq network, are now equipped with Webclip icons (these are epic icons with a +15 to stamina, which any iPhone user will appreciate). Just make a Webclip with the browser on your iPhone or iPod touch, and our shiny icon will automatically appear on your home screen. Also, we are extremely proud to announce that we have some shiny new galleries here on the site -- our design team has implemented an awesome (and slick black) interface for browsing all of the pics we've ever posted so far, so if you've never browsed our patch 2.4, BlizzCon costumes, Around Azeroth or Tales from the Lion's Pride Inn galleries, now's the time to do so.More design updates are still on the way here at WoW Insider -- stay tuned!%Gallery-5529%%Gallery-16546%

Well folks, the improvement train has unloaded its wares at the Wii Fanboy station, providing us with a sweet new gallery system. If you read Joystiq, then this will be one of the oldest and dustiest hats you've ever seen (or worn, for that matter), as they've had this system in place for quite some time now. But hey, it's new to us and we're happy to dine on the scraps off Joystiq's plate! So, what's new? As you can see above, you may now comment on individual photos in the gallery You may now view photos in two distinct flavors: low-res and hi-res, allowing those of you with teh 56K to cruise around in our galleries and not worry about your computer blowing up We can now add captions on each individual photo in the gallery, allowing us to explain (when needed) what you're looking at and why it's interesting (to us, anyway) The color design of the gallery has also changed to an all-black affair, so hopefully that's better on your eyes than the all-white approach our galleries took before That about covers it. I've gone ahead and embedded a gallery below for you all to thumb through so you can see how the new gallery system plays out. Hopefully you'll all find it to be as much of an improvement over the last system as we have.%Gallery-4772%

In our eternal quest to bring our readers (that's you!) the latest and greatest in internet technologies (these tubes don't run themselves, after all), Xbox 360 Fanboy is proud to announce the arrival of our new and improved gallery system. Our new gallery system supports higher resolutions and allows users to leave comments on individual images. In the standard view, a low resolution image appears on the left side of the screen with the description on the right. But, if you click "Hi-Res" on the upper right, you'll be taken to the full resolution version of the image. Seriously, on a scale of one to ten, how cool is that? The change is retroactive to all of our previous galleries, so if you want to leave a comment about, say, our Game Fuel gallery, you can! Please enjoy our new gallery system, and look forward to more gallery content in the future. Check out the gallery below to see all the new features for yourself.%Gallery-15537%

  • Behold the Jaffa!

The Assistant Art Director for Stargate Worlds, Nick Heitzman, chatted with StargateWorlds.com about the inspiration behind the look of the Jaffa. At first blush I'd say steroid enhanced NFL linemen. But that's just me. Heitzman said he wanted them to look "strong, sexy and exuding an aura of command." Welp, I'd say he hit it right on the head. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to meet up with these guys in a dark alley! The Jaffa will be bigger, more muscular and militarily precise in their movements. Heitzman compared them to Spartans in both their clothing and armor choices, preferring function over form, with color tones hearkening back to Greece and Rome. Endowed with peak physical conditioning honed by constant training and a fanatical devotion to achieving higher levels of effectiveness, the Jaffa really will be like the "Steel Curtain." All I know is, if I can be a Jaffa... that's what I'll be playing! In addition to this nugget o' knowledge, the Stargate Worlds Gallery has been updated with pictures of the Jaffa (see above), vehicles, and containers for Anima Vitru.

  • Additional notes on the NCsoft Q&A

Earlier this week we gave you a glimpse of what went on during NCsoft's City of Heroes/City of Villains Meet & Greet held in Milpitas California on November 30th. Before going into detail about the event, however, we'd like to make one correction to our earlier article. When we said that "some in the audience seemed unhappy that all their enhancements and abilities would be viewable by their PvP opponents," we made it sound as though all of your build information would always be visible on the City Vault, and this is not the case. As noted back on the 20th of November, "you will have the option of hiding your Statistics, Powers, Badges, and Friends list from inclusion on the public web page." You'll have to live with knowing your character's name, image, level, server, archetype, and origin are searchable via the Vault, but -- based on what the developers have told us in the past, and what they reiterated at the Meet & Greet -- you'll have control of everything else. They also advised us that a Leader Board listing will be part of the City Vault: if you're a PvP fanatic, you'll always know where you stand. • Embed .Mac Web Gallery thumbnails in RapidWeaver pages

    by
    David Chartier
    David Chartier
    08.25.2007

The new .Mac Web Galleries are great, but they unfortunately can only be built by iPhoto '08 and integrated into iWeb pages. Thanks to this RapidWeaver forum post from Günter, however, RW users have a trick for embedding those slick scrolling .Mac Web Gallery thumbnails into their pages. The trick more or less involves creating at least one or more .Mac Web Galleries, opening iWeb and using its new widgets feature to embed one of your galleries in an iWeb page, publishing to a folder and copying the specific piece of .Mac Web Gallery code out of that iWeb page and into a RapidWeaver Blocks page. It isn't exactly pretty, but I think I know of a way to simplify this process, at least for some of you. The way I figure it, if you're already publishing an iWeb page to your .Mac account with your galleries embedded in them, you can just open your iDisk and drill down to Web/Sites, find the page you published with that gallery code and simply grab it from there. No publishing to a folder and creating more junk to manage and delete, since you're already publishing those pages and code somewhere. As far as looking at the code on those pages, you can of course simply open them in a browser and use the View Source command, or you can find a text editor like TUAW favorite TextMate or even the free Taco HTML. For more questions on this you can try in the comments here since I know a good number of TUAW readers are also RapidWeaver lovers, but the original RapidWeaver support thread where I found this tip might be a better place if you want to get more thorough answers faster.

  • TUAW Tip: How to manually delete a .Mac Web Gallery

    by
    David Chartier
    David Chartier
    08.15.2007

The new .Mac Web Galleries sure are pretty slick, but their dependency on iPhoto '08 can have some unfortunate side effects. When I first installed iLife '08, I moved my original iPhoto library so I could tinker around with the new version using a few pics I had lying around on my Mac. I then created a Web Gallery with these images just to see how things looked. After deeming it safe to proceed, I replaced my original library to actually begin using the new iPhoto features - the only problem is that, somehow, the .Mac Web Galleries you create seem to be library-specific. In other words: when I created a gallery with my test library and then swapped it out for my true library, the .Mac Web Gallery listing in iPhoto's sidebar was no longer there. I couldn't find any kind of web admin panel at the .Mac site for managing these galleries either, so I quickly found myself in a predicament.Fortunately, I'm not alone here, and I found this thread in the Apple Discussions forums that describes a method for deleting a gallery manually if it no longer appears in iPhoto's sidebar. The solution basically involves logging into your iDisk from the web (http://idisk.mac.com/UserName) and browsing to the directory that houses your galleries, then manually deleting it from there. For some odd reason, this folder doesn't appear in your iDisk on your Desktop like your other .Mac website files, even with hidden files turned on (I used the Show-Hide widget to quickly toggle hidden files. As far as I can tell, Apple simply doesn't sync this folder down to your Mac or give you access to it with the iDisk). The only problem I had with the solution as it is described in that forum thread is that I didn't find the _gallery folder where the forum poster said I should; instead, it's in iDisk > Web > Sites. Each gallery you have created is stored in its own directory under that folder, so you should be able to delete just the ones you want without affecting the others.[Update 2: Matt Ronge, developer of upcoming Mac OS X email client Kiwi, enlightened me in the comments with an even easier solution to this problem: simply go to iPhoto's Web Gallery pane in preferences, and simply click Check Now to cause iPhoto to check your .Mac account for any new photos. This should also cause it to catch any galleries not already listed in iPhoto's sidebar, ultimately allowing you to manage and delete them from the comforts of iPhoto.][Update: Some commenters are reporting that the _gallery folder in question does actually appear in their iDisk when viewed in the Finder. I don't know why only some of us see it, but you could be one of the lucky few.]Considering that your Sites (for the old homepage.mac.com pages) and Web folders are synchronized and fully available in your iDisk, I hope that this strange gallery behavior is simply the result of an oversight. While I understand Apple's desire to use software to manage this stuff instead of forcing users to dig around in folders, having manual access to this directory will be useful in a pinch, especially for users who, for example, buy a new Mac or need to have a sick Mac restored.

I just sauntered over to the Convention Center here in Anaheim to see what I could see, and the results are in the first exclusive gallery of pictures from BlizzCon, available right there below! There's nothing really groundbreaking here, unfortunately-- it looks like they're still setting up the banners (so I'll go over and check again later today), and I couldn't get close enough to get a really good look inside the Exhibit Hall. But they're definitely close to being done-- while there's lots of carts and equipment around, not much is coming in or going out. I did see a pallet of boxes, but I couldn't get close enough to read what it said on them. Here's an original size version of that one if you guys want to try to decipher what might be in there.Unfortunately, no "Wrath of the Lich King" banners yet, but I'll keep my eyes open and bring you more when I find it.Update: Added some more banners, because when I stopped by this afternoon, they were done putting them up.%Gallery-5417%

I spent last Friday evening at Upper Deck's Darkmoon Faire event in Chicago, IL (actually Schaumberg, as our readers have pointed out). And once there, I learned all about the WoW trading card game. I got to meet both Ben Drago, who organizes these events for Upper Deck, and Mike Hummel, who developed and created the game with the rest of his team.I also saw lots of people playing the game-- there were beginner and advance tournaments running all weekend-- as well as a special section Blizzard had set up with Upper Deck to allow visitors to play on a special LAN server, where they ran scavenger hunts and PvP events ingame. Tons of people brought tons of cards, and everyone got to throw down and try to outlast their opponent's heroes more than once over the weekend. A gallery of pictures from the Faire is below-- thanks to Upper Deck for putting on the event in Schaumberg, and we can't wait to see you guys again at Blizzcon.%Gallery-4040%
