If you don't understand the joy of punting Gnomes, chances are that you are a Gnome. So if you don't find this movie funny... beware! You may, in fact, be a Gnome. And if you're a Gnome... you know that means that there's a player lurking around any corner interested in punting you. And do you even need to ask? This bit of machinima is classic Oxhorn.Previously on Moviewatch...

Hululu of Zealot Blade sends in this shot of Gnomes in their natural environment (Ironforge, of course), throwing an exclusive, Gnomes-only celebration. The Gnomes are odd, poorly understood creatures, and the reasons for their celebrations remain unknown even to Azeroth's most learned -- after all, who, passing such a gathering, could possibly resist a little Gnome punting fun?Do you have a unique shot of Azeroth or Outland that you'd like to show off to the rest of the world? Throughout its nine and a half minute duration, Time Gnomes manages to make some truly bad and completely facepalm-worthy jokes. But throughout the same it also manages to score some serious laughs. So be warned: this video contains some not entirely safe for work language, and it's likely to offend at some point. But if you aren't worried about that, watch away!Previously on Moviewatch...

  • Confessions of a Warrior Noob [edit]

How well I remember the day I that created my warrior. I had seen a gnome walking around with an adorable name, a cute hat, and all that plate armor much too big for her, and I was suddenly inspired with a character idea that I just had to make real. As a roleplayer, I was fiercely excited to play this undauntedly brave gnome who would proclaim in an adorably child-like voice: "I am NOT cute! I'm the most fearsomest warrior you'll ever see!" The character was wonderful fun to roleplay for a long time, and brought plenty of laughs with my friends, but after finally reaching level 40 and getting my cute mechanostrider mount, I realized I was getting killed way too often, killing monsters way too slowly, and just not having that much success at the actual "war" part of being a warrior. I had heard of a number of warriors complaining in the forums and it seemed that the class was just way too weak. So I gave up and blamed Blizzard for my bad experience -- but oh, how I was wrong...

This isn't the first parody of the movie 300 we've seen on Moviewatch, and with the number of "FOR SPARTA!" cries I hear while wandering around the World of Warcraft, I doubt it will be the last, either. However, 300, with Gnomes? Next thing they'll be doing Sin City with Gnomes! Argh!Previously on Moviewatch...

Reader Zhyane of House of Marama on Medivh sends in this screenshot highlighting all of "the little cogs of the game are working and how insignificant what the player base wants is." And, admittedly, looking down on the Tinker Town section of Ironforge makes me feel awfully small. (A player could easily get crushed in those giant gears -- and for my part, I'd blame the gnomes.)Do you have a unique shot of Azeroth or Outland that you'd like to show off to the rest of the world? Just how manly do you think a pink haired gnome could be? Personally I never thought of gnomes as being the epitome of manly, but this one certainly feels that he is! In this cute video submitted by Seraya, we're treated to dancing Night Elves (surprise, eh?) a human wife who knows just what she wants, and the gnomish husband who sings his manly song telling us all about who rules the roost in his family. Having never listened to the Bob & Tom (radio) show before, the song was new to me. Hopefully if there are more silly songs from that show available, this machinima creator will create some more videos. Once you do, send them our way so we can all enjoy them!

  • Happy gnome appreciation day!

Today's comic brings the love to our short, semi-sweet, and often misunderstood friends, the gnomes. Gnomes. Short, obnoxious, nauseatingly cute, and spunky. With their troll-doll-like neon hair choices, and their high-pitched chatter, they are one of the most endeared and picked-on race in the game. But with great ridicule comes great hilarity, as today has been deemed Gnome Appreciation Day! The forums are abuzz with comments about our new holiday, bringing even the blues out of hiding to voice their love of the pocket-gnome. Many jokes about keeping gnomes as pets, having gnomes for dinner, or treating them like footballs have entertained us for years now. But, lets face it, gnomes are important! They are our dps in raids. They are our vending machines, for food, water, and healthstones. They are the butt of our jokes, but they keep coming back. They are bait to lure The Beast out of his cave (which probably started most of the gnome-punting jokes). They are the best engineers in the game, which in the next patch may actually prove viable. "They're in ur raidz stealin' yur soul shardz." They're everywhere, and they're here to stay! So lets take a moment to give a shout-out to the shorties, for it's Gnome Appreciation Day!

  • Gank Frank: A raging rumble of retribution

Sweet three-toed sloth of Azeroth! We have a new contender for Best Fan-Produced Warcraft Feature of all time -- Fenrix of Bloodhoof's epic graphic novel Gank Frank. This story is loosely based on Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill saga, except that it features a gnome rogue who was left for dead by the mysterious Frank and a group of notorious Warcraft villains. Now he's out to kill off everyone on his list, recover his missing Mr. Wiggles, and look cool in a yellow jumpsuit. There are currently three chapters up, which corresponds roughly to the whole first volume of Kill Bill. You can see 11 (elite), Blood-Covered Gnome, and Showdown at the Pig and Whistle Tavern on the forums of the guild Funkytown. It's taken Fenrix nearly a year to finish up the first half of the saga, so you might not want to hold your breath waiting for the second part. I'm not exactly sure how they make things like this and Flintlocke -- a combination of screenshots, model viewers, and a lot of editing time? What do you think about Gank Frank?

"Gnome versus the volcano" doesn't quite fit in this situation, regardless of how much I want to use the reference. "Gnome versus Coilfang" just doesn't have the same ring to it at all. At any rate, reader Fizbang sent in this picture, taken on his first trip to Coilfang -- and I must say, it gives a very impressive sense of scale. How's a tiny gnome supposed to stand up against something so big? Do you have a unique shot of Azeroth or Outland that you'd like to show off to the rest of the world? • Breakfast Topic: What do I level next?

Throughout vanilla WoW I'd managed to create a small selection of alts that I managed to level all the way to 60. Since the expansion, I've been focusing on gearing out my main character, the irrepressibly cute gnome warlock pictured here. But what's next? I have a druid, warrior, and a hunter that I've leveled up to 60, and a Draenei mage that I've leveled up to 20 just to see the new starting area. I'm tempted to level the mage up as a tailor so I can crank out more shadoweave cloth for the warlock's nefarious purposes, but leveling my druid alchemist up could also be a nice moneymaker. I enjoy playing all the classes I have, or I wouldn't have leveled them up as high as I have, so that's not an issue.Any thoughts on what I should level next? Are there any leveling catches that I haven't heard, things that make a hunter, druid, or warrior easier to level than the others?

I just started a BE mage, and I'm having lots of fun learning all the mage's little abilities and quirks-- Blink amuses me to no end, and Evocation is awesome (especially since my main is a shOOMan). But I've got a whole new respect for Slow Fall after seeing this. Lookit that little gnome go! I thought it was really amusing that the Horde stuck with him for that long. They must really be desperate for some Barrens kills.

Complete with commentary track! If YouTube starts allowing users to upload alternate commentaries for videos on their site, that would be the bomb, but we digress. Today's hottest game video shows Fedora Core 5 running on a PlayStation 3. It's pretty sexy when the Fedora GNOME GUI starts up, complete with hot gaming action from Blackjack and Mahjong. We're unsure how it would look in HD (craptastic?), but it has our vote as a pretty cool haxie.Soon, Linux will rule the world. Check out the video after the jump.

  • Have GBA, will travel

Here's one from the just plain unusual file: one intrepid family has decided to turn traveling around the world into a photo project starring the GBA. Rather, a young boy playing a GBA, hence the pun in the name of the set at Flickr -- "Game Boy Around the World." Ah, Game Boy-spotting, Game Boys in the wild, Game Boys gone wild -- the humor potential here is almost frightening in its vastness. Too bad the photos are actually good; we'd much prefer to crack jokes, but we're too busy goggling at all the wonders. We just hope the kid featured in the pictures took some time to look around as well ... after all, this project is funny because it's true.[Via Joystiq]

  • Phat Loot Phriday: Bad Mojo Mask

It's Friday, and you know what that means-- time to break out the booze! If you're 21, I mean. But before we do that, let's take our weekly look at a neato piece of gear somewhere in Azeroth.Name: Bad Mojo MaskType: Rare Cloth HeadpieceArmor: 54Abilities: +24 Intellect Increases damage done by Shadow spells and effects by up to 14 Looks awesome, especially on gnomes! And if you like the look but want to wear leather, the Big Voodoo Mask looks almost exactly the same. Unfortunately for gnomes, the stats make it a better fit for a shadow priest. But while it's not ideal for a warlock (because they can get as much mana as they need from Life Tap), it would work for them too. And check this awesome TCG art featuring the mask How to Get It: As much as I want this on my 60 Shaman, the last version of this mask I could find drops in Zul Farrak (if anyone knows of a mail level 60 version of this thing, let me know, and if there isn't, Blizzard, get on that for BC). To get the BMM, you've got to loot it from Shadowpriest Sezz'ziz, who spawns at the very end of the fight down the stairs (when the NPCs are helping you out). He's got a few bodyguards with him, but if you've survived the big temple fight and have a few NPCs left, you won't have any trouble at all. There's about a 17% drop on it, so six runs (less if you're lucky, more if you're not) should do ya.Auction Price: It's BOP, a vendor will give you 78s 58c. But if I were you, I'd keep this thing around at least for another month or two. How else are you going to get candy on Halloween?Update: Jeremy also points out the sweet Hexxer's Cover, a nice ZG piece with better stats and a slightly different look. Although it doesn't really have that rustic, made-by-hand look that this one pulls off so well...

  • Actress talks to gamer about WoW dedication

The guys at LiquidGeneration went a step beyond stalking an actress and actually scored an interview with the WoW-playing USPS ad girl.Felicia Day is best known in TV circles as the potential slayer "Vi" during the final season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but she also found a bit of notoriety as "Angie," the USPS-usin' woman for a Postal Service ad campaign. All we're interested in, of course, is her love of Ultima VII, Link (over Mario and Undead Warlocks), and 5 man Strat runs for her Level 60 Gnome Warlock.Maybe it's not the greatest revelation since Dave Chappelle showed some knowledge of the MMO, but many male gamers still manage to find a way of expressing shock that a beautiful woman (especially one who's found a measure of success in Hollywood) enjoys an online raid or two. We're just glad that an actress is willing to be upfront about her love of games--even she sometimes uses it to avoid talking about bad auditions.[Thanks, James]

  • Surface HD snafu: Linux on a PowerBook

I was catching up on some TV the other night watching Surface Episode 12 from last month. Two of the main characters were using a PowerBook to read their email. Being the Mac geek that I am, I was looking rather closely and I noticed that the PowerBook wasn't running OSX. I had to rewind it a few times to catch what was going on, but thanks to High Definition I was able to clearly make out the Gnome Desktop (Bottom left corner of screen and menu bars). The odd part was that although they were using Mozilla to read their email, the message in question was in Outlook Express, it seems like a waste to configure Wine for OE. The clip was long and elaborate and for the life of me I can't figure out why they wouldn't just use OSX for the scene.

  • Choosing your race...

Do racial abilities play a part in choosing your race?  Does the home city factor into your choice? Or does it come down to pure aesthetics when you are choosing?I know some races offer preferential abilities for certain classes, for example; gnomes gain a 5% bonus to intellect, which is desirable for mages and warlocks.  Orcs on the other hand, gain a passive pet bonus and an active melee talent, more suited to hunters and warriors, in my opinion.Perhaps the choice of faces or skin color plays a part? Maybe it is the wicked hair choices offered to the undead that draws your eye...Which race do you prefer? What plays a factor in your choice?[Edit: Thx Brandon for the spelling correction :) ]
