Since everyone loves (to hate) NBC's tape-delayed Olympics coverage we decided to push this latest episode of the podcast back a couple of days. Naturally the action from London and all of the discussion around the way it's being broadcast leads things off, but there is other news this week. Super Hi-Vision has had its public debut, Google Fiber TV is happening and Amazon's video is on the iPad. The only bad news? We won't have a new show next week as we take one week off, and we're still not ready to roll out those EHD Fantasy Football league invites again just yet. Until then, you've already waited long enough for this one, go ahead and press play. Get the podcast [iTunes] Subscribe to the Podcast directly in iTunes (MP3). Perhaps surprisingly, there was more news to discuss last week than just the DirecTV / Viacom split and Breaking Bad season five premiere. News from Ceton about its upcoming hardware plans has us excited for the fall while XBMC is doing its part to extend the HTPC experience by supporting Android. Finally, a slick Blu-ray box set for the Marvel / Disney movies has us considering whether to push the buy button, although we can all agree that selecting "play" is the best option for you right now. After Google I/O, the latest news from Mountain View is tops on our list as we try to wrap our heads around the Nexus Q. Also on the list this week are the odd couple pairings of Boxee and Comcast, as well as HBO and Hulu (in Japan.) Rumors that Microsoft's plans for its next console could turn it into a Blu-ray and whole-home DVR super set-top box lead off a console-heavy into to this week's podcast, as we also check out the new Paramount Movies app and Netflix for the Wii U. If speed is what you're about, Verizon just raised its limits (and its prices), while the DOJ is looking into cable vs. online video -- we'll let you know when to get excited. Apple's WWDC keynote did not reveal many directly TV related technologies, but its new Retina Display laptops are definitely in our wheelhouse so we'll start there. Of course, for true audiovisual bliss it's hard to beat the promise of either Dolby Atmos theaters or 8K Ultra HDTV Super Hi-Vision broadcasts, so we'll tell you where to find both. While Comcast is rolling out more TiVos and Sky is (slightly) updating its guide, the wildest innovation at the moment is coming from Google and Intel's attempts to brute-force their way into the TV market. Finally we've got some kiosk and digital movie rental news before we check in with our thoughts on Prometheus (spoiler alert!) in 3D and finally what we're watching this week. E3 is under way this week, and early presentations from Microsoft and Nintendo has already given us plenty to talk about. Between the Xbox 360s enhanced set-top box suite of apps and SmartGlass second screen demos and the Wii U GamePad's IR control they're more a part of the home theater than ever. Also in the news is Apple TV, while we take a look at what's ahead from Ultra High Definition TV in 4K or 8K and even 3DTV. We'll even touch on our good friend / punching bag TiVo, while Lovefilm is finally in the streaming fight with HD video support. As we kick off the 300+ episode era, we welcome a guest, Engadget's own Steve Dent, to talk about high frame rate 3D filmmaking and why (or if) we should be excited about it. Other big news in the week gone by are new developments in Amazon streaming as it launched on the Xbox 360, while Comcast's VOD is popping up on Android and more TiVos. Ultra HDTV is also closer to becoming a reality, while LG officially took the wraps off of its first OLED HDTV. The new iPad and Apple TV are not only finally official, they're also both full HD-ready for the first time. As such, they're leading off this week's (slightly late-arriving, hopefully that hasn't completely ruined your scheduled listening plans) podcast, while we round out our Apple coverage with a look at the new iCloud-enabled wrinkle applied to the iTunes Digital Copy feature. Samsung and Panasonic are rolling out their newest HDTVs, Blu-ray players and audio systems, while Plex and MythTV continue to push new versions of their media player software. Of course, we're still not sure what the future could hold for Netflix and Big Cable, or Google's plans for Motorola's cable box business, but we'll consider the possibilities and much more in this week's podcast. The Windows 8 Consumer Preview has hit the streets and word is Media Center is present and accounted, so of course we have to take a look. Afterwards, we dig into the latest digital movie news and the least surprising lawsuit of the week. We've also got an interesting Android dongle and the much-anticipated arrival of the Indiana Jones movies on Blu-ray.
