On the heels of the latest mini-patch to 5.1.0a is another list of hotfixes from the official blog. Today's round of hotfixes may have very little in the way of class tweaks, but there's plenty of quest, Pet Battle, profession, and item changes to be found, as well as some bug fixes involving both classes and quests. The Cinder Kitten now has more health, which is far more appropriate for an armored critter. Alchemists that have deleted their Zen Alchemist Stone can now obtain and complete the quest Strange Spherical Stone to get their hands on a new one. Various hozen rare spawns are now less likely to evade and despawn, to the relief of rare hunters everywhere. Normal and heroic mode raid bosses now grant 40 valor points each upon defeat. Read on for the full list of hotfixes.

Blizzard Community Manager Nethaera posted on the US forums today documenting a recent update to WoW, bringing the game up to patch 5.1.0a. Blizzard Notes for World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria patch 5.1 can be found here. Patch 5.1 hotfixes can be found here. Bug Fixes Pet Battle Abilities that use a shoot or missile animation will now properly display their visual effect. Disabling Loss of Control in the Interface menu will now also disable the red cooldown swipes on the action bar in addition to the notification in the center of the screen. Loss of Control Alerts can be disabled in the Game Menu by going to Interface > Combat > and un-checking Loss of Control Alerts. When Loss of Control Alerts are enabled, the red cooldown swipes will not be displayed for abilities that were already on cooldown and in situations where that cooldown will last longer than the loss of control. Night will now fall at the proper time on all realms. Objective icons in Scenarios will no longer incorrectly persist until the Scenario is complete. Fixed an issue that could cause crashes during Pet Battles. Mac Fixed an issue that could cause a crash to occur during in-game cinematics in OSX v.10.6 source The most interesting element of these notes to me is the updates to the loss of control notifications. Those red cooldown swipes, which didn't seem to be present in the PTR, were seriously irritating to those of the playerbase who didn't care for them, and couldn't previously be switched off. It will be interesting to see whether these fast patches are a sign of things to come, or simply a renaming of hotfixes! Mists of Pandaria is here! The level cap has been raised to 90, many players have returned to Azeroth, and pet battles are taking the world by storm. Keep an eye out for all of the latest news, and check out our comprehensive guide to Mists of Pandaria for everything you'll ever need to know.

  • Patch 5.1: PvP trinkets hotfixed

    12.07.2012

Blizzard Community Manager Daxxarri posted yesterday about a hotfix Blizzard's team are implementing to PvP trinkets, to help address the current issues with burst damage. As we've reported, patch 5.1 is fraught with PvP problems, and this is hopefully the first in line of fixes Blizzard will make. While it's great that changes are being made, the question remains: will this be enough? Naturally, Blizzard's team have access to numbers that the rest of us don't ever see, but it seems like a tall order to repair the current issues by simply changing a few trinkets. Daxxarri does go on to say that there is a risk that this changes means players simply won't die, but this seems a little unlikely. A greater risk seems to be another point Daxxarri addresses, being the potential this offers for the use of PvE trinkets in PvP. Particularly for burst-reliant comps such as anything with 3 DPS players, resilience is not a huge consideration, as a lot of the time their plan is to end the match quickly with very high up-front damage, scoring repeated kills. It seems possible that PvE trinkets with very high on-use bonuses could reappear, but Daxxarri promises that Blizzard will continue to monitor the situation. Hit the break for Daxxarri's full post.

More hotfixes are in store for patch 5.1, it seems -- and a fresh list was just posted to the official blog. Please note that some hotfixes may require a realm restart before going into effect -- and that we have rolling restarts scheduled for tomorrow morning. Included with today's rounds are the usual handful of bug fixes, but we've also got some adjustments for Pet Battles and Brawler's Guild tweaks as well. All eligible players can now complete the quest It Is A Mystery, which makes things far less mysterious, but far less frustrating as well. The Crow on Darkmoon Island can now be caputured, and cannot be caged for sale. Picking up Meatball's Strange Energy in the Brawler's arena will now benefit the Brawler's nearby pet as well. It turns out framerates were merely a setback, and the issue affecting system performance in Silvermoon City has been resolved. Read on for the full list of hotfixes.

  • Patch 5.1 hotfixes for December 3, Valor drop amount increased

Another round of patch 5.1 hotfixes hit the ... Streets ... tonight. The amount of valor points dropped from raid bosses will increase from the current 25 points to 40 points. Noteworthy in this increase is a specific tweet from Ghostcrawler, clarifying earlier remarks: Correction: More Valor hotfix hasn't gone out tonight. It will get pushed with the next raid reset. - Greg Street (@Ghostcrawler) December 4, 2012 This means that when the raids reset tomorrow (Tuesday), everyone will get the enjoy the higher valor drop rate. The changes are not taking place today, because as Ghostcrawler puts it: "There was some concern of causing ill will among people who had already finished raiding for the week." As far as why the change happened, Ghostcrawler says: @shadesogrey Sympathetic to the argument that 16 bosses is already a big time commitment. Different world from small tiers like Firelands. - Greg Street (@Ghostcrawler) December 4, 2012 Warlocks, paladins, and monks also received minor changes. The full notes after the break.

    12.01.2012

Several new hotfixes have been added to patch 5.1, and it's quite the lengthy list this time around. Along with several class tweaks, the latest round of hotfixes also addresses a variety of bugs that cropped up with the latest patch. And for those wondering about soloing old raid bosses for pets ... well that just got a little bit easier, too. Viscidus, The Twin Emperors, C'thun, Al'ar, and the Reliquary of Souls have all been tweaked to be a little more friendly for solo farmers. The Blingtron 4000 Gift Package now has a better chance of dropping valuable stuff, and now has a bonus chance to drop an additional sellable item, too. Alliance soldiers in the Krasarang Wilds are no longer confused about which side they're on. And here I thought we were mixing it up with defectors! Mounted players can now interact with the portals at the faction daily quest hubs in Krasarang Wilds. Read on for the full list of hotfixes.

Well that was quick. Hot on the heels of the first round of hotfixes for patch 5.1 is a second set released yesterday on the official website. The majority of the hotfixes this time around address small bugs with the latest patch, although there are a couple of class changes in the mix as well. Both Stormlash Totem and Skull Banner have had their radius increased to 40 yards, up from 30. Quest targets on Bilgewater Beach in Krasarang Wilds will no longer flag you for PvP. An issue causing some players to be friendly with the denizens of the Black Temple has now been fixed. Sorry guys, no demon friends for you! And to the relief and delight of all, Great Cranes will now drop Pristine Jet Crownfeathers more frequently. Read on for the full list of hotfixes.

    11.27.2012

Quick on the heels of patch 5.1 is a round of hotfixes to the patch. These are mainly bug fixes, as well as fixes and adjustments to several raid encounters, and a handful of class tweaks. Unfortunately, the Turkey Shooter can no longer be used on mounted players. Perhaps turkeys do not have the appropriate riding skill? An issue causing various items to be awarded to players of the incorrect class or spec in Raid Finder has been fixed. Sky Crystals will no longer function against Alani once her Nimbus Shroud has been dispelled. Follow along for the full list of hotfixes.

    11.21.2012

A new batch of hotfixes has hit the servers, and several issues with LFR have been tweaked and adjusted. Several encounters have also been adjusted for difficulty level, which should be a relief to LFR players. In addition, there have been a few tweaks to world bosses, and one mob in particular is no longer able to become an actual mob of creatures. Alliance players, I'm sorry but Teng Applebloom has lost the secrets of cloning technology. In the Heart of Fear, the Raid Finder version of Grand Empress Shek'zeer has been adjusted to be a more appropriate difficulty level. Amber-shaper Un'sok has also been tweaked. The issue that sometimes caused Alani to despawn after being pulled with a Sky Crystal has been fixed. Read on for the full list of hotfixes.

Everyone loves the hotfix gnome. He signals the arrival of more of the hottest of fixes, and has a fabulously pink beard. He's heated up yet another bunch of hotfixes for us all, and if you missed the last batch, check them out. Today's hotfixes (that we believe have been active since the 19th, but have just been announce today) include: Hunters can no longer carry battleground flags while stealthed with Camouflage Players that have been defeated by the Headless Horseman can now use the Looking For Dungeon interface to return for another attempt. Digging up a find while practicing Archaeology will now continue to grant skill points past 50. Wyrmhorn Turtles are no longer quite so prolific. Poor things. Hit the break for all the hotfixes! Wyrmhorn Turtles aren't quite so prolific there either.

  • Vengeance hotfixes explained

    by
    Olivia Grace
    Olivia Grace
    10.22.2012

If you've never played a tank and are unaware of Vengeance, it's a tanking-specific ability that causes you to gain attack power equal to 2% of the damage taken from an enemy. Vengeance, therefore, makes a tank's attacks more powerful based on what's hitting them. This helps with threat generation, and gives tanks a way to keep aggro when faced with big-hitting DPS trying (intentionally or otherwise) to pull mobs off them. Vengeance has caused some discussion, granting tanks with huge chunks of attack power whenever people hit them in PvP, which was fixed a while back during Cataclysm. There have been a few changes to Vengeance lately, which have been causing a little confusion, so Blizzard Blue Daxxarri has stepped in to alleviate players' concerns.

Roll up, roll up! Hotfixes! Get them while they're hot... erm... fixes! They're coming in thick and fast, and the latest batch are hot off the presses. I really need to stop making jokes. Hotfix highlights include: Pet Battle matchmaking has been improved. The pets on each team involved in the battle will now be closer in level with each other. Teams queueing for Arenas will temporarily no longer be placed into the The Ring of Valor. Windsong and Elemental Force weapon enchantment activations will no longer remove stealth. Void Shift can no longer be used on NPCs, including player pets. I don't know about you, but my main question is why has Ring of Valor been deactivated? It is not among my favorite arenas, so I'm not exactly upset, but still curious! Hit the break for the full list of hotfixes.

    10.10.2012

While he says he doesn't want to get into the habit of it, everyone's favorite blue crab, Lead Systems Designer Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street made this announcement today: @venaliter It may not be live if you haven't seen it. I don't want to get in the habit of announcing hotfixes on Twitter. +25% PoH and PoM. - Greg Street (@Ghostcrawler) October 10, 2012 Now, while he says it "may not be live yet", it seems from follow up posts from Nethaera on the official forums that "yet" is code for "in the next batch of hotfixes". Nethaera says: Nethaera Quote: When will this buff go live. Because it was not there last night. Checked my logs from last week PoH is still the same. I don't have an ETA for you as of yet, but we'll make sure it gets updated in the Hotfix notes when it happens. source Keep an eye on Ghostcrawler's twitter, you never know when he might let another hotfix creep into his feed! • Exploit Hotfixed: Azeroth's cities safe once more

    10.07.2012

Nethaera hopped on the forums today to let us know that the massive city deaths were indeed a result of an exploit taken by nefarious individuals. The exploit has been hotfixed already, and it should no longer be a problem. Blizzard doesn't mess around with stuff like this... if people are found exploiting the game and causing problems, they'll not only find themselves banned but also in some other troubles. Nethaera Earlier today, certain realms were affected by an in-game exploit, resulting in the deaths of player characters and non-player characters in some of the major cities. This exploit has already been hotfixed, so it should not be repeatable. It's safe to continue playing and adventuring in major cities and elsewhere in Azeroth. As with any exploit, we are taking this disruptive action very seriously and conducting a thorough investigation. If you have information relating to this incident, please email hacks@blizzard.com. We apologize for the inconvenience some of you experienced as a result of this and appreciate your understanding. source Mists of Pandaria is here! • Patch 5.0.5 hotfixes for October 1

    10.02.2012

Another round of hotfixes for patch 5.0.5 have arrived, and this time the post is massive. Among the list are a few things we already knew about, such as the changes being made to Justice and Valor point gear and reputation levels. But there are far, far more adjustments and tweaks that have been made to everything from classes to quest objectives. Hunters, many beasts out in the world are now properly able to be tamed. Paladins, Holy Wrath now deals 100% more damage. Druids, the periodic damage of Thrash (Bear) now deals more damage -- 60%, to be precise. Apparently captive breeding programs have brought the endangered Briny Clackers and Brineshell Snappers back to sustainable proportions. Who knew? The incredibly stylish Umbrella of Chi-Ji has had its stats improved. Read on for the full list of hotfixes.

  • Incoming hotfix buffs JP gear, nerfs honor point gear

    by
    Michael Sacco

    10.02.2012

If you thought the item level of endgame PVE gear purchasable with justice points was a little low, Blizzard apparently agrees with you. Bashiok just let the official forums know that a hotfix is incoming, bumping the ilvl 450 PVE rares to 458. Additionally, the hotfix brings down the item level (and rarity color!) of the ilvl 464 epic PVP gear available for honor to 458 and rare. In conjunction with the hotfix removing the reputation requirements to access the JP gear, it should be considerably less of a hassle -- and involve a lot less PVPing -- to gear up for heroics. The downside is that the PVP gear you probably bought just to cheat the queueing system is a little worse. I can live with that. The full post from Blizzard is after the cut.

  • Patch 5.0.5 Hotfixes Compiled

    by

    Olivia Grace
    09.27.2012

Blizzard have been hotfixing 5.0.5 thick and fast, as you would expect with a huge patch like this that introduces such a lot of additional content. To enable those of us who are so engaged with playing the game that we aren't fully in tune with the hotfixes, Blizzard have provided a compilation post for all the recent fixes. The main angle for me when reading hotfixes is looking through them and wishing I'd been around to find out about the un-hotfixed bug. Some of them sound so cool, like the stag stacking from just after 5.0.4's release, or Queen Azshara's adds' unreasonably large arcane bomb. Also, the very high-speed chess in Karazhan! That would have been amazing to watch. In the most recent set, from September 25, what are you looking at that sounds like it would have been fun to witness? I have heard very mixed reports on Drek and Vanndar in Alterac Valley. When I went in there not long ago, they seemed to have very low health, but people on twitter a while back were complaining that they had been boosted to way too high a level and were basically unkillable resulting in resource battles rather than the usual run -- run -- raid boss in Alterac. Also the hotfix of a cross-realm zone bug where your passenger was dismounted from your flying mount sounds like something I really should have taken advantage of. I, particularly on my paladin, take great pleasure in flying up as high as possible, before right-clicking off my rocket and dropping people for a long parachute ride. Did anyone experience these bugs? And check battle.net for the compilation of all the hotfixes so far. It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. Look for expansion basics in our Mists FAQ, or dig into our spring press event coverage for more details!

    09.21.2012

A new list of hotfixes has been released, posted by Kaivax on the official site. The list today includes a bug fix for Theramore's Fall and a whole host of class changes. However, I suspect the best of the list will be some long-awaited adjustments to the function of cross-realm zones. Cross-realm zones will no longer brings together players over three time zones apart. In addition, when Tol Barad and Wintergrasp commence, cross-realm zoning should be disabled for the duration of the battle, and resume after the battle has been decided. And on top of all of that, cross-realm zones should no longer behave erratically when a party changes leader. Read on for the full list of hotfixes, including a massive amount of class changes and tweaks.
