A viral Firefox commercial poking fun at its browser competition features the anthropomorphized icons of Internet Explorer, Netscape and Apple's own Safari acting, well - somewhat silly. No matter which browser you're a fan of, it's a pretty funny spot and one of the better offerings I've seen from the Firefox Flicks campaign.[via Netscape]

You know how, in first person shooters, you're running all the time while observing the polygonal world down the barrel of a gun? Yeah, good times. As clear and undeniable proof that not only are video games not realistic but they're totally funny, we point you towards this Goldeneye spoof-video where our would be James Bond kicks his feet so high in the air, it reminds me of ... well, me in high school gym class I guess. Check out the video (embedded after the break) while I drown my high school memories in round after round of XBLA UNO. Who's the nerd now?[Via Cathode Tan]

Those craaazy kids from Mega64 are at it again: walking around their neighborhood, acting like creeps, and putting it on the internet so we can all laugh ... good times. This time they've done gone and impersonated Resident Evil 4's omnipresent merchant (yeah, that one)."Greetings stranger! What are you buying?"Hijinks are embedded after the break.[Via Kotaku]

The animated .gif addicts over at YTMND have been very busy lately revealing the truthiness behind recent video game rumors. Here are some of those OMIGOD NEWS FLASH! announcements from YTMND's gaming posse: The PS3's 100% official start-up screen REVEALED! Nintendo's bunker busted REVEALED! Halo 3 ending REVEALED! World of Warcraft in space REVEALED! Shiggy's secret N64 formula REVEALED! Half-Life 2's plotline REVEALED! (take that, suckas) YTMND's formula is never going to get old, simply because there will never be a shortage of fanboy ideas and rumors to make fun of. Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. Don't look so shocked...you should be surprised I haven't posted any Brokeback Mountain parodies until now. Not the most skillfully made of films, but then neither was the real thing...

You know, this reminds me...we just don't get enough good prank calls anymore nowadays. Between caller ID & cell phones, it's nigh-impossible for anyone to remain anonymous enough anymore to cause any real mischief. Kids today have got it rough. But anyway, my point was that this is a prank call to a pizza joint by a guy who tries to order an Epic Pizza for 50 gold, while trying to sweeten the deal with promises of gryphon rides. It's no Jerky Boys or Tube Bar, but it's what we got left nowadays...check it out over at Blizzplanet.

If you remember the P-P-P-Powerbook scam last year, then you're going to love the new and improved M-M-M-Macbook scam. Once again, a Something Awful forum dweller by the name of isnoop has documented quite the adventure involving a MacBook Pro sale on eBay, and the intrepid scammer who didn't quite get what he ordered. Check out the first post in the forum for links to the key events of the scam, and marvel at this wonderful entertainment the internets make available.[thanks C Keigher!]

  • Dashboard update a bad omen?

Justin McElroy of GamersWithJobs  ponders the biblical significance of Microsoft releasing a major update on 6/6/06 and makes a chilling revelation: That's right true believers, this download is not simply the ability to play games while you download files but rather THE MARK OF THE BEAST. Think I'm joshing? Let's take a quick look at a snippet from Revelation 13. "Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell who does not have the mark." Hmm, does that sound like micropayments to anyone else? Sure does. Active downloading as the mark of the beast? That would make Major Nelson one of the four horsemen of the apocolypse, if not the dark prince himself. Before you decide Justin left his brain behind, note that the AntiChrist already has a gamertag, although he represents poorly for a spawn of Satan.  Suddenly that 360 forehead tattoo doesn't seem like such a good idea.

In my opinion, the concept behind this home-made trailer for a fictional Pac-Man movie surpasses that of any other full length movie based on a game. Not that it's got much competition. Choice quote: "It looked like some kind of man, some kind of... Pac-man."[Thanks, Justin]

In the great tradition set forth by the BSOD widget, the Kernel Panic widget offers a panic-inducing performance for the rest of us. Just set it up on your friend's, boss' or worst enemy's Mac and watch their hearts skip a beat as they (hopefully) figure out the gag. Its developer, Powermacguy, over at DashboardWidgets is either a pretty clever guy or (soon to be) on a few Mac user's hit lists. The Kernel Panic widget is free and available from DashboardWidgets.

Which is approximately the distance that I was willing to walk to get away from any radio station playing this song back in 1993. Fortunately, this version is much cooler...it's actually kinda heartwarming. And it doesn't have those annoying Poindexter guys screaming in my face...
