It came from the Blog invites you to join us for some war games. We've got no in-game holidays this month, so let's beat each other up! Unlike the Gurubashi Beatdowns, with Blizzard's new War Games feature, we can play party games (that may or may not involve killing each other) without funsuckers coming in to bother us. You want details? I got your details right here: When: Saturday, March 26 at 5 p.m. Eastern (2 p.m. Pacific, 3 p.m. server time) for the pre-event mixer and 5:30 p.m. Eastern for the War Games Where: Meet at the bar in the Goblin Slums of Orgrimmar on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H) Who: Any Horde character level 10 and above (because players under level 10 cannot join raids) What: A pre-event mixer and then we'll split into two teams and play some War Games How: Ask anyone in It came from the Blog for an invite, if you are not already in one of our guilds I will be streaming the main event, as usual, and we'll also have a chat channel specifically for this event. Important instructions will be typed out in the chat channel, but full details will be given on the audio of the stream. Some WoW Insider bloggers will also be showing up for the mixer to say hi and accept virtual drinks from fans. We do hope you'll be there to join us. Please join us on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H) in It came from the Blog. Any member can invite. You are all welcome as long as you play by our simple rules -- basically, don't be a funsucker! Visit the guild FAQ for more details.

Last Saturday, the <It came from the Blog> family of guilds held our annual Hallow's End event. We gathered in Razor Hill for our pre-event mixer. Anyone who wanted to join was invited to <Blogling> and we carried on our chat in a chat channel for all of our guilds to participate in. We then put out fires, which took just a few seconds, as there were so many of us there. Then we traveled to Orgrimmar to go trick-or-treating. Once there, we abandoned the lowbies and those of us with the flightpaths of Kalimdor went trick-or-treating around the continent. The fun was captured in the gallery below. We will have another event this month -- probably Pilgrim's Bounty. And we will continue to have at least one event a month, even if we have to make up an in-game holiday to go with it. %Gallery-106769% Please join us on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H) in <It came from the Blog>. This Saturday, the <It came from the Blog> family of guilds will be hosting our annual Hallow's End event, which will be in two parts. The first part will be for all levels, and we'll do the daily fire quests. The second part will be for those with all of the flight paths in Azeroth so that we can trick or treat all of Kalimdor. We may do more trick or treating if we have time. Of course, we'll have the pre-event mixer as usual, so I guess that makes three parts. Here are the particulars: When: Saturday, Oct. 30 at 12:30 p.m. EDT (9:30 a.m. PDT, 10:30 a.m. realm time) for the pre-event mixer and 1 p.m. for the first part of the event Where: Razor Hill on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H) Who: A Horde character of any level. Last month, we held our annual Brewfest event in <It came from the Blog>. We completed the quests together, drank a lot of virtual brew and did a lot of running around. Unfortunately, we all found out that Robinemia can't hold her booze. How embarrassing. Though Blizzard has made us split our guild into a few smaller ones, our family of guilds will still be participating in holiday events. Look for the Hallow's End event in the week after BlizzCon and a Pilgrim's Bounty event next month. As usual, you are all welcome to join us, as long as you aren't a funsucker. The picture above links to the video of the event and below are a few snapshots. Join us next time! %Gallery-104906% Please join us on Zangarmarsh (US-PvE-H) in <It came from the Blog>. • Guild size cap and the WoW Insider reader guild

    by

    10.06.2010

I was a bit saddened when Blizzard announced that guilds will be hard-capped at 600 members as soon as patch 4.0.1 hits. We're going to have to break up our family into smaller guilds if we want to have new members. And we're going to have to do it soon, because 4.0.1. is on the PTR and could hit any Tuesday now. Blizzard says it looked at the data and reached the following conclusion: ...we are happy to say that this value covers more than 99.9% of all the active guilds in World of Warcraft But I believe their data is flawed. Their research cannot have taken into account the many guilds who have split themselves up in order to stay below the 500 member soft cap. For those of you who don't know, if you have a guild with more than 500 members, not all members show up on the roster, so you can't tell how many guildies you have online or even in the guild. It makes things clumsy and time-consuming when you need to promote or kick. Not only that, but there is no rhyme or reason as to who shows up and who doesn't. Recent invites may appear on the roster, whereas people inactive for months may not. So many guilds have chosen to split up and patiently wait for the bug to be fixed. Since there are no alliances and no checkbox for "part of a larger group of guilds" built in to the game, there is no way for Blizzard to gather the appropriate data. After the break, I'll be going into how this affects <It came from the Blog>, our staff/reader guild that has grown at points up to 1,700 members, and what our plans are for the immediate future. But first, have a poll: Note: This poll is for entertainment purposes only, of course. %Poll-53765%

Previous to last Tuesday night, the most people showing up for an <It came from the Blog> event was about 250 (estimated), and usually no more than 100 showed up. I have no idea how many people showed up to the Server Maintenance Party, but it was in the hundreds. Multiple hundreds. Lots and lots of people showed up to steal the Alliance fires. Soooo many. You raid leaders think it's hard to herd 25 cats? Try several hundred. I'm still a bit in shock. Also, as you can see/hear above, I streamed the event. I like Ustream for streaming, but there is an audio delay in my ear that is a bit bothersome. This is why it sounds like I'm having a stroke at the beginning. I'm not. I just hadn't gotten into the swing of ignoring the delay yet. My brain is fine. Mostly. It also only recorded the first 20 minutes. Boo! Some event highlights and a gallery are after the break.

Last Saturday, <It came from the Blog> flamed the Eastern Kingdoms. We started at Silvermoon City, hanging out, chatting and pole dancing. We then proceeded to work our way down the continent, hitting all of the Horde flames and some of the Alliance ones. The first half of the event was an all-levels affair. Stay on the road! Protect the lowbies! But then the mid- to high-levels abandoned the lowbies at Hammerfall and we took flight paths the rest of the way, There was a slight glitch, however. (Perfect is boring.) Robinator didn't have the flight path in the Burning Steppes. But that turned out to be a good thing. We landed in Swamp of Sorrows, rode through Darkshire and then into Lakeshire to get to the Burning Steppes. This allowed us to douse a few more Alliance fires. I should have planned it that way all along. It was a lot of fun, as usual. This was the first time I had streamed an event, and I liked it. I'll continue to do that from now on. Stay tuned for the pics from the Server Maintenance Party. And I'll let you know what this month's event will be as soon as I know. %Gallery-96717%

We will have another Fishing Party by the waterfall before the event begins, so that we can chat and get to know our orphans. Here are the particulars: When Sunday, May 2. Pilgrim's Bounty ends tonight at 1 minute before midnight, server time. That means today is the last day to do the following: Get really frustrated fighting people for wild turkeys. Hit people in the head with cranberries. Crash the opposing faction's dinner parties. Coerce a druid for a chance at the Raven Lord while wearing Puritan attire. Go from 0 to 350+ in Cooking quickly, easily, cheaply. Even if you aren't interested in chasing turkeys and looking like a Mayflower reject, I highly recommend taking advantage of leveling Cooking. To get the Winter Veil Gourmet during the Feast of Winter Veil, you'll need 325 cooking. And of course there are all of those yummy food buffs. For a complete list of Pilgrim's Bounty achievements, please see our OverAchiever Guide. Have fun with your last minute, food-related fun!

The players on the Emberstorm and Whirlwind battlegroups have had a rough week. A massive power outage, huge network issues and other problems have forced them away from their virtual homes to find refuge elsewhere. Some have joined the It came from the Blog guild on Zangarmarsh, where we have had two impromptu server outage parties. The picture above is from Tuesday night's shindig. Others have commented in the outage posts that they have formed level 1 raids on other servers. And of course there are other games to play. Personally, if both Zangarmarsh and my main server are down, I figure it's time to start watching what's on the DVR and knitting. What do you do when your server is down?

    11.23.2009

According to my sources, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. is the biggest drinking night of the year. I don't know if that's true, but if it is, that means the roads are more dangerous. So, in the interest of your safety, we are having an It came from the Blog Pilgrim Party that night. Ok, that's not the real reason. We are actually having the party at that time so that we will all still have time to get the Pilgrim title on our It came from the Blog characters before the event ends on Saturday -- if we so choose. Here are the particulars: When: 11pm EST (8pm PST, 9pm Server time) Wednesday, November 25th Where: Meet at the Ruins of Lordaeron (Undercity) on Zangarmarsh (U.S.) Who: Any Horde character of any level. No mounts required. How: Ask Robinator, Robinella, Robiness or any It came from the Blog Lurker or above for an invite to the guild. What: We will be gaining some Pilgrim's Bounty Achievements: Food Fight!, Sharing is Caring and Pilgrim's Paunch. There will probably be some cooking Achievements after the event as well. We will not, under any circumstances, be doing The Turkinator Achievement as that would be counterproductive with a large party. Speaking of inators, I have recently transferred my mage to Zangarmarsh and named her Robinator. She will provide portals for all to make the bouncing from city to city much easier. If you have any of the normal questions, like why Horde (coin toss), see the It came from the Blog FAQ. Please join us! Update: We may even be giving out some loot codes. Possibly. Perhaps. ... I hope.

Stop the presses! Hold your Hawkstriders! It came from the Blog is having a last minute Day of the Dead Dance Party tonight! And everyone is invited: Where: Falconwing Square on Zangarmarsh (US) realm When: Midnight EST (10pm Server time, 9pm PST) Who: Any level Horde character How: Ask Robinella or any It came from the Blog Lurker for an invite to the guild What: We'll be making a video of dancing with Catrina and transforming (so don't do the achievement before the rest of us) as well as completing The Grateful Dead quest. If you have time to log on before the event and make some pocket money, learn cooking and bake some bread, please do. But we'll have extra cash and bread for those who don't. Of course, you'll only be able to complete The Grateful Dead quest outside of Silvermoon if you are a Blood Elf, but we will travel to other graveyards for other races, time permitting. Or you could just make a baby Blood Elf for this event only -- for those of you not dead set against it. (See what I did there?) Most questions about It came from the Blog are answered in our FAQ. If you have others, please ask in the comments. Hope to see you there!
