Buffalo's LT-V100 Link Theater streams every format under the sun at 1080p
If for some reason none of the media streamers on the market at the moment have suited your particular tastes, perhaps Buffalo's new LT-V100 Link Theater is just right. It's a little box offering HDMI and composite video plus optical and good 'ol 3.5mm audio outputs, able to manage 1080pwhen streaming content either over Ethernet or pulling it right from USB-based storage. Naturally these little darlings live or die by their format compatibility, and in that regard Buffalo's is quite a fighter, able to play anything from RealVideo to Matroska, naturally with various flavors of MPEG, WMV, and Xvid along the way. It'll also do images and plenty of audio formats as well. All this can be yours later this month for ¥11,500 -- about $130 -- if you live in Japan. %Gallery-97552%
Buffalo brings LinkTheater HD media streamer to these shores
Buffalo let loose a pair of LinkTheater HD media streamers in Japan late last year, and it looks like it's now finally decided to bring a little of that HD-streaming 'round here. Unfortunately, for some reason, it's only decided to bring over the wired-onlyLT-H90LAN model, and not the WiFi-packin' LT-H90WN model that our Japanese friends get to enjoy. If that's not too much of a trade-off for you, however, you can expect the same 720p and 1080i output as before, along with support for streaming of a wide variety of content from both Macs and PCs, as well as USB hard drives and DLNA-compliant media servers. You'll also get HDMI output, with some component video and optical audio connections thrown in for good measure -- and, of course, that 10/100 LAN port. Look for this one to start hitting all the usual sources this month for $199.[Via Gearlog]
Buffalo intros pair of LinkTheater HD media streamers
No interest in a shiny new NAS from Buffalo? No worries, as the firm is hoping to play on your AV emotions too with a new duo of HD media streamers. Part of the tight-knit LinkTheater family, the LT-H90LAN and LT-H90WN each feature USB 2.0 connectivity, an Ethernet jack, analog / digital audio outputs and HDMI / composite connectors. Furthermore, the pair plays nice with a slew of files including AAC, MPEG2/3, WMA, JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF, VOB, WMV, ASF, AVI and H.264, but unfortunately, DivX / XviD weren't invited to the party. Nevertheless, those who still think this would fit the bill can snap up the wired-only LT-H90LAN for ¥21,000 ($184) or the 802.11a/b/g/n-enabled LT-H90WN for ¥31,700 ($277) later this month.[Via AkihabaraNews]
Buffalo LinkTheater Wireless Media Player for Viiv PCs
If you like the idea of BenQ's Viiv-flavored DMP300 Digital Media Player we saw yesterday, but would so much prefer a version with snazzy antennas, Buffalo has you covered. It's the very same remote Internet applications and premium content that Viiv support enables, just this time in a Buffalo box, and featuring a USB 2.0 port for plugging in digital cameras and portable audio players. Codec support is hefty, with audio (MP3, WMA, AAC, LPCM), image (JPEG, BMP, PNG), and video (MPEG 1/2/4, WMV 7/8/9, XviD) formats well represented, along with DRM like DTCP-IP and Windows Media DRM 10 for Network Devices. There's an Ethernet port along with the 802.11a/b/g wireless connection, but though the device has S-Video and composite outputs, component video only works off of a D4 port via an included adapter, and no mention is made of HDMI. The LinkTheater should be available later this month for around $250.
