What we're watching: No HD for ABC tonight, as they have cancelled yet another HD reality show, and Monday Night Football has moved over to ESPN. Psych returns for another go on NBC, but given the low quality of last weeks episode, you may want to skip. Showtime brings not only Weeds (season premiere) & Brotherhood, but a double dose of Bill Murray with Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day.Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

What we're watching: NFL preseason action continues, as the Bengals take on the Redskins during NBC's Sunday Night Football. HBO's Deadwood, Entourage and Lucky Louie line up in their usual positions next to INHD's Mojo package. TNT drops by with an inspiring teacher story made into a TV movie The Ron Clark Story, and Macy Gray - Live in Las Vegas premieres tonight on HDNet. Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

What we're watching: Not much new on tonight, with mostly reruns, but Terminator 2 should be pretty good on Starz, and may look even better than the Blu-ray transfer. We'll also be keeping an eye out for the Little League World Series on ESPN Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

What we're watching: Football. Even preseason action is better than the endless line of re-runs or worse that we've been getting lately. The Colts take on the Rams tonight on Fox, meaning you can probably see one drive with the starters in, then enjoy the desperation of guys trying to make the team for three and a-half more quarters. Also tonight is MLB action between the New York Yankees and the (10 games back from the mighty Detroit Tigers) Chicago White Sox on ESPN and INHD. Last time we had a dual broadcast we received comments that ESPN's quality may be slipping, if you have a way of checking out both -- assuming a blackout on one channel -- it may be worth a look. Our traditional high definition listings continue below.

What we're watching: Without anything new on network television tonight, we'll check out a few dark comedies on Cinemax. Shaun of the Dead should be perfect for zombie buffs taking time out from the just released Dead Rising, followed up by The Chumscrubber on Cinemax. Dirty Harry also makes an appearance tonight, with The Dead Pool on HDNet.Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

What we're watching: According to Jim continues to fill in for the departed The One on ABC. Unfortunately it's pretty much a night of reruns on network television, but HDNet brings us the premiere of Osama, the story of a girl pretending to be a boy as she tries to survive in Afghanistan. Otherwise...there's always wakeboarding championships on INHD. Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

What we're watching: Kyle XY is gone, but we have another interesting series making the jump from cable to network television, USA's detective comedy Psych. Airing in high definition tonight on NBC, this one definitely warrants a look and is normally one of my favorite SD shows. If it's funny enough to watch in 480i, you know we'll be tuning our HDTV in. Also tonight are The Closer and Saved as usual while ABC brings back One Ocean View, hopefully that will stick around longer than The One: Making a Music Star did. Finally, just to show our Canadian friends there are no hard feelings, Canadian Bacon is on HDNet.Our traditional high-def listings continue below.Update: Ugh. Forget we said anything, it appears Psych is merely an ugly upconvert of the original 480i broadcast, albeit natively widescreen. Ugly pixels and artifacting abound. Avoid like the plague.

What we're watching: Finally Sunday nights are getting interesting for HD again. While we've got the usual HBO lineup with stars like Deadwood and Entourage, INHD's Mojo TV block and Showtime's Brotherhood queued up in their usual slots, lets not forget about football and uh...football/futbol/soccer. First we've got the return of professional football with NBC's Sunday Night Football as the Philadelphia Eagles face the Oakland Raiders. Sure it's just pre-season NFL action but our first look at Donovan McNabb and Randy Moss on the field in a while, plus John Madden and Al Michaels in the booth ensures good times for all in 1080i.Also on HDNet we've got the other kind of football, with two live games, one domestic, one international. Sleepy Hollow pops up on TNT, so you can compare what will likely be stretched or cropped to the HD DVD release. Last but not least Showtime's original movie Everyone Stares: The Police Inside Out airs tonight, with Super 8 home video footage made by the bands drummer at the height of their popularity. Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

What we're watching: While the big networks may not spread around much HD love on the weekends, this is a great Saturday night to stay in (or at least queue a few things up on the DVR). HD Beat reader Randy Perry tipped us off that during HD Net's In the Spotlight: Stanley Kubrick lineup tonight, will be the first time The Shining has been shown in its original aspect ratio (OAR), other than limited showings, since its release in 1980. As if that weren't enough, they will also air A Clockwork Orange and 2001: A Space Odyssey which has received rave reviews in high definition. Also on tonight is last year's summer action flick The Island, while the reviews were lukewarm, we're looking forward to checking out the special effects in HD.Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

What we're watching: Fox isn't running 24 repeats on Fridays anymore, in its stead this week they are showing either Barbershop or Bringing Down the House depending upon which page of their website you believe. Still, you can catch Elisha Cuthbert (Kim Bauer) starring in The Girl Next Door tonight on Cinemax. Finally Entourage runs five episodes tonight if for some reason you haven't already been watching every week already. Our traditional high definition listings continue below.

What we're watching: Not much new for your HDTV tonight. If re-runs aren't a problem there is always Grey's Anatomy on ABC, and a Lucky Louie mini-marathon on HBO if you missed an episode at some point. Michigan, home to 50% of the HD Beat team, is profiled on Discoveries...America tonight while Sky Captain & the World of Tomorrow hits Showtime. Dirty Harry also checks in with The Dead Pool on HD Net.Our traditional high definition listings continue below.

What we're watching: The abrupt axing of ABC's The One: Making a Music Star left some surprised, but in it's place tonight we've got four episodes of George Lopez. On TNT Stephen King's Nightmares & Dreamscapes continues onward while ESPN brings us the Bobby Abreu-less Phillies visiting the Cardinals. Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

What we're watching: We don't recall asking for an According to Jim mini-marathon but that hasn't stopped ABC from giving us one, with four episodes tonight starting at 8. 1980's Eddie Murphy by far trumps 2006 Jim Belushi for comedic purposes, so we'll check out Beverly Hills Cop 1 & 2 back-to-back tonight on Cinemax. Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

What we're watching: In what is becoming a recurring theme we have a new series premiering on ABC tonight, One Ocean View and while it is not listed as HD on ABC's website, Titan TV says it is. Since Kyle XY is also not listed as HD on ABC.com but actually is broadcast that way, there is a chance that you can view this Real World-esque series of a summer getaway for single young working people in 720p. Otherwise, it's the same-old, same-old for Monday night, Saved & The Closer, plus baseball in the wake of today's trade deadline. Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

What we're watching: It's a summer Sunday you know the HD drill by now, network reruns, Deadwood followed by comedies on HBO, Brotherhood on Showtime, Mojo lineup on INHD. Still, we never miss a chance to check out Clint Eastwood as The Man With No Name so A Fistful of Dollars on HDNet is definitely worth a look. Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

What we're watching: Tonight NBC plays the is-it-HD-or-not (thanks rocko!) game with The Italian Job, which you would expect to be shown in high-def but isn't listed that way on their site. Titan TV says it is, we'll know for sure at 8 p.m. ABC brings us Practical Magic, while The Longest Yard remake with Adam Sandler hits Showtime tonight. Finally, all the Lil' Bow Wow fans out there can see the skating flick Roll Bounce on Cinemax. Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

What we're watching: Friday night continues to be the most barren of the wasteland that is summer television programming. Kyle XY fans have another new episode, otherwise it is all reruns and movie stunners like Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid. You can also keep up with the latest training camp happenings on ESPN's NFL Live, but that's about it.Our traditional high definition listings continue below.

What we're watching: As usual, if it weren't for Windfall we'd have nothing new on this Thursday night. There are also repeats of Grey's, Earl, and The Office reheated and served by the networks. Discovery will try to lure you in with the entirely misleadingly titled Solar Eclipse Live, which is actually several years old but still worth watching. Finally the Cardinals face the Cubs on ESPN while the toolman Tim Allen is profiled on INHD2.Our traditional high definition listings continue below.

What we're watching: Let's see, tonight between ABC and NBC we've got The One: Making a Music Star, that is in high definition, and America's Got Talent, which isn't. Which one do you think we'll be watching? We'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count.Elsewhere, the Stephen King television event on TNT continues tonight, not to mention I, Robot on HBO if you can bear to watch it cropped & zoomed. Our traditional high-def listings continue below.
