    01.11.2012

Apple's upstaged the entire CES 2012 event by announcing their own education event on January 19 at the Guggenheim Museum in NYC, so now I'll continue the trend by demonstrating some real shipping products for Apple equipment. Who wants to hear CES rumors about products that may never ship? I'll give you the stuff that's already available to help you be more productive and have fun. Below, you'll find a Ustream livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to participate by asking questions or making comments. If you're driving somewhere and would like to watch TUAW TV Live while you're stuck in traffic, please don't -- keep your eyes on the road! However, if someone else is doing the driving, you can watch the show on your iPhone and join the chat by downloading the free Ustream App. It's a universal app and is wonderful on an iPad, both for viewing and participating in the chat. We'll start at about 5 PM ET, so if you're seeing a prerecorded show, be sure to refresh your browser until you see the live stream. For those of you who are not able to join us for the live edition, you'll be able to view it later this evening on our TUAW Video YouTube channel and as part of the TUAW TV Live podcast viewable in iTunes or on any of your Apple devices.

Yeahhh, as if we know! Well, actually Doc Rock and I probably have as good a track record at predicting what is going to come out of Cupertino as some of the Wall Street analysts who have been prognosticating this week, and we're certainly more fun to listen to. Hawaii's finest and I will be meeting in the virtual TUAW TV studio this afternoon / evening at 5 PM ET to try to make some sense of the foggy future, and of course we'll be checking your commentary in the chat room. Below, you'll find a Ustream livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to participate by asking questions or making comments. In case you showed up here expecting to watch today's TUAW TV Live, I've decided to take a holiday break today. I'll be back at the regular time and place next Wednesday (5 PM ET) with more Apple-related products and talk. I'm also taking a break from the TUAW Daily Update podcast during this news-quiet week If you need a TUAW TV Live "fix", you can watch a large sampling of previous shows on YouTube. Until next week, have a safe and happy New Year's Eve.

Time flies when you're having fun. Yes, believe it or not, TUAW TV Live has been polluting the blogosphere every Wednesday afternoon since December 22, 2009, making today the second anniversary of this live video stream. Viewers have been treated to hundreds of product and app demos, interviews with fascinating guests, and most of my hat collection. Today I'll have more of the same on tap, including demonstrations of the Doxie Go scanner ($199), the Verbatim Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Keyboard ($84), Newer Technologies' NuTouch Gloves ($19.99) and NuScribe ($19.99) stylus/pen, the Autriv High-Sensitive Magnetic Stylus ($19.99), the very cool Deckster Re:Class iPod nano watchband (CAD$165), AblePlanet Clear Harmony active noise canceling headphones ($299 with an 8 GB iPod touch), and the most important of all -- the Opena iPhone 4 case (AUD$39.95). Please note that the last demo involves beer... As usual, I'll be starting the show at 5 PM EDT (2 PM PDT / 10 PM BST) sharp, and we'll take a few minutes to chat before the demos start. To join in on the chat and watch the live streaming video, drop by TUAW about five minutes before the start time to get your instructions on how to participate. If you're unable to join us for the show, remember that you can always subscribe to the video podcast and watch the show at your leisure in iTunes or any other favorite podcatching app. The past shows are also available on the TUAW YouTube channel. As promised (threatened?) in the promo post earlier today, I'm going to demonstrate a pileup of products on TUAW TV Live. Accessories and apps are both on the menu, so expect to see a lot of action on the show today. No, I won't be driving the TUAW demolition derby car (above) in a battle royale against the other blogs ... just showing off a lot of fun stuff. Below, you'll find a Ustream livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to participate by asking questions or making comments. Welcome to another episode of TUAW TV Live! On today's show, I have a prerecorded interview with Paul Kent of IDG World Expo, the man behind next January's Macworld | iWorld: The Ultimate Fan Event. In the interview, Paul gives TUAW TV Live viewers the word on what is going to make Macworld | iWorld so different from all those many years of Macworld Expo. I'll also be demonstrating a few new Mac apps for viewers today. It seems like there has been a sudden surge in rollouts of innovative new Mac apps, so there are a few I wanted to demonstrate on TUAW TV Live today. Did this month just fly by or what? Just 35 days ago I was doing a live review of the "new" iPhone 4S, and now all of us are used to talking to Siri. It's also hard to believe that in just a few weeks, TUAW TV Live marks its second anniversary of weekly idiocy. Time flies, and so will today's show as I open the microphones to TUAW TV Live regulars. I'll provide my Skype address to folks in the chat room, and if you'd like to pontificate about a topic for 5 - 10 minutes, you'll have the chance. Just keep it on topic -- i.e., Apple-related -- and you'll be fine! Below, you'll find a Ustream livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to participate by asking questions or making comments. If you're driving somewhere and would like to watch TUAW TV Live while you're stuck in traffic, please don't -- keep your eyes on the road! Wow, TUAW TV Live is going to be hot enough to cook a 22-lb. turkey today. I have a pile (and I mean that literally) of new goodies to show you. I have a taped interview with Dan de Granpre of DealNews.com talking about the great deals you can expect on all sorts of techie toys on Black Friday. And I'll do a side-by-side comparison of the $199 Kindle Fire tablet with the $499 and up iPad 2. Spoiler alert -- you get what you pay for. Below, you'll find a Ustream livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to participate by asking questions or making comments. Many TUAW readers may be exercising their credit cards in preparation for Black Friday, and on today's edition of TUAW TV Live, I'll be talking to Dan de Grandpre of Dealnews.com about many of the deals that Apple fans can find during the annual holiday shopping frenzy. Since last week, I've also done enough hands-on time with a Kindle Fire tablet to do a really good side-by-side comparison of the two devices. I'll be taking your online questions and responding to your comments in the chat as I demonstrate the good and bad points of this $199 tablet. Welcome back to another exciting episode of TUAW TV Live. It's hard to believe that this show has almost been on the air for two years; time flies when you're having fun with a great group of people! And speaking of time flying, our "Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?" proprietress of the House of Crackpot Theories™ is one year older today. Kelly Guimont is my guest co-host on TUAW TV Live today, which means that there should be some craziness, yummy birthday cake (courtesy of Ms. Guimont), and a lot of other fun goings-on. One short but controversial topic will be the Amazon Kindle Fire, which is a little short for a stormtrooper, too. I'll also have the usual introductions to a number of items that will be reviewed on TUAW in the near future. Below, you'll find a Ustream livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to participate by asking questions or making comments. If you're driving somewhere and would like to watch TUAW TV Live while you're stuck in traffic, please don't -- keep your eyes on the road! I'm still in a tizzy running around doing sixteen things at once, so I wasn't able to get a guest lined up for today's TUAW TV Live. So, what's a live streaming video host to do? Easy -- just talk about a lot of new and wonderful things for Apple devices, chat with viewers about the news, throw in a little Apple trivia and discuss the differences between publishing a book on the Amazon Kindle Bookstore and the Apple iBookstore. As usual, I'll be starting the show at 5 PM ET (2 PM PT / 10 PM GMT) sharp, and we'll take a few minutes to chat before the demos start. To join in on the chat and watch the live streaming video, drop by TUAW about five minutes before the start time to get your instructions on how to participate. As promised in the promo earlier today, this episode of TUAW TV Live will be full of accessory and app demos of some of the latest goodies that have shown up at the TUAW Studio / Hardware Testing Lab that occupies my office. I usually don't pull any punches when I'm reviewing items on the show, so don't be surprised if I'm less than charitable in my comments about an item. The iPhone 4S has been out for a dozen days, and it's already proving to be Apple's most popular phone ever. The 8 MP camera takes spectacular photos and video, the speed of the device in both native operations and running web apps is amazing, and Siri has raised the bar for what a smartphone needs to be. On today's TUAW TV Live, I'm going to walk through a lot of the features of this new device, do side-by-side comparisons with an iPhone 4 running iOS 5, talk about Siri in daily use, and -- as always -- take questions from TUAW TV viewers in the chat room. Is the iPhone 4S enough of an improvement over the iPhone 4 to make for a no-brainer upgrade decision? You'll find out in just a few minutes. Below, you'll find a Ustream livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to participate by asking questions or making comments. Remember that you can also join the chat room via IRC, using server chat1.ustream.tv and room #tuaw-tv. 07.20.2011

Today on TUAW TV Live, there's only one topic -- OS X Lion. I've been working with various developer beta versions of Apple's latest operating system for several months now while writing a book about Lion, and I can't wait to show off some of the new features of the big cat. If you're interested in OS X Lion Server, I've got it up and running as well -- it's now a $49.99 app that runs on Lion and provides a simple user interface for most of the major tasks involved in setting up and maintaining a server. For those who have been afraid to set up a small office or home server due to the complexity of doing so, your time has come. How about those new MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs? The old plastic-body MacBook is no more, and there's a lot more to talk about in the chat room today. Well, with that headline I've finally acheived a life goal -- writing a TUAW headline with the word "extravaganza" in it. Today's TUAW TV Live is going to be all about iPad apps, except for the parts where I'll be talking about Google+, opening some boxes of hardware that are awaiting review, and maybe talking a little bit after all about an upcoming OS update.
