The Bridge, an M.C. Escher-like logic puzzler from developers Ty Taylor and Mario Castaneda, will expand its reach on Steam to Mac and Linux next week. The IGF Student Showcase winner will be available on Mac and Linux on May 16 and will be compatible with SteamOS and Steam Machines as well. The Bridge is a 2D puzzle game where players manipulate gravity to "redefine the ceiling as the floor," all while exploring 48 levels with layouts that seem architecturally impossible. It first arrived on Steam for PC in February 2013 before finding a second home on XBLA in November. The game is SteamPlay-enabled, so those that already own a copy of it on PC get it for free on Mac and Linux. [Image: Ty Taylor]

  • Monument Valley finds beauty in impossibility, beta sign ups now

Monument Valley is an optical illusion presented as a game – or a game presented as an optical illusion – starring Princess Ida as she travels alone, seeking forgiveness for a past misdeed. The levels twist and turn to create impossible pathways and shapes, allowing Ida to travel where she needs to go. It's due out on mobile devices "soon" from indie developer ustwo, and beta registration is live now directly through the studio. Ustwo's past work includes mobile game Whale Trail and a handheld game with a murky history called Papa Quash. Ustwo pulled Papa Quash from the App Store last year following a cloning controversy – the game was commissioned by a third party to play like JS Joust, but it wasn't sanctioned by that game's creator, Die Gute Fabrik. The air was cleared in May and Die Gute Fabrik Lead Designer Douglas Wilson said he didn't harbor any ill will toward Ustwo. Monument Valley takes cues from the mind-melting art of MC Escher, with gameplay influences from Zelda and Myst. That sounds like the right kind of inspiration to us.

The newest concept art to hit from the Volume II: Book 7: Leaves of Lórien update for Lord of the Rings Online features an astonishingly beautiful Galadriel's Court. Does it surprise anyone else that elves are all about visually stunning architecture? While the Dwarves are primarily concerned with size and how much gold was involved, the Elves seem to focus on making everything curvy and elegant. It's like an M.C. Escher drawing, only with leaves and vines instead of doors and stairs. There's plenty more beautiful concept are that's previously come out of Turbine, and we highly encourage you browse through them if you haven't yet. Trust us, it's worth the few minutes you'll spend massaging your eye muscles enough to stop them from popping those precious peepers back into their sockets. Additionally, we've got the first screens from the Volume II: Book 7 update as well.%Gallery-46767%%Gallery-18340%

For today, I thought I'd show off a screen I snapped some time back. You see, for all the time many of WoW players spend in Karazhan, generally there's very little time to look around. I just happened to accidentally knock the mouse around at the correct moment, and noticed this bit of MC Escher/Labyrinth inspired backdrop. And yes, that's my beloved Troll Rogue with a mohawk (not to be confused with a Night Elf Mohawk) front and center. It just goes to show you that no matter how much time you've spent in a place, there's sometimes still more to see. One Shots lives on a steady diet of your screenshots! Snapped a good screenshot lately? Tired of seeing the same old games featured? Send us shots from your favorite game! It's easy to be part of the fun -- just send your screenshots and stories to oneshots@massively.com. Yours could be up here next! %Gallery-9798%
