It's been well documented here at DS Fanboy how much we absolutely love Meteos, as well as puzzle games in general. When the announcement hit that there would be a Disney-themed edition of the game, we almost literally blew up with excitement. Regardless of the Disney theme, more Meteos was just what the doctor ordered for our bad case of needing to solve puzzles. IGN recently got their hands on an early build of the game and there has been a few changes to the already-beloved experience, causing us to wonder if this updated dose of Meteos is going to cure our ailment.First of all, the DS now needs to be held like a book as if the player is playing Brain Age. Supposedly, this is to maximize visual space, but we'd be lying if we said the change was something we supported. Another change is that now on Easy and Medium difficulty, you can move blocks horizontally, as long as they're surrounded by at least one block on its left and right. We're anxious to get our hands on the final product, but for now we're choosing to remain skeptical. How about you, anxious or angry?[Thanks BPMΩ!]

  • Buy incomplete game on eBay, finish it yourself

Have you been struggling to get into game design, due to your habitual inability to actually design a game? Since your answer has absolutely no impact on the continuation of this paragraph, let's just assume you answered with a resounding "yes." In which case, you'd best aim your web browser at eBay and start bidding on the rights and source code of a partially complete game. You'd better hurry, George Broussard has already moved into sniping position.Claiming to be an independent developer, eBay user mustardseed312 is selling a "near-complete 3D puzzle game," complete with "beautiful 3D graphics" and "cool particle effects." Having run out of time and funds, it's his hope that an eager garage developer will snatch up the code, finish the game and then release it to massive critical acclaim."This game is a shameless Meteos clone, except the blocks are 3D-er! Overall, we give it a four out of ten." Perhaps not. Check out the embedded video of Prasium (after the break) and start staking out the auction. Bidding starts at a paltry $1,000.[Thanks Brian. And, err, good luck with that.]

Turns out Q Entertainment has plans to take the near-perfect gameplay of one of DS Fanboy's best DS games, Meteos, and bring it online. The only problem is that this new and improved formula of Meteos is currently set to grace the PC and not the DS.This is when the person listening to all of this would ask why this is being posted to DS Fanboy, a one-stop-shop for all the DS news big or small and the only reliable place on the inter tubes for such factual information as well as objective, intellectual views on said information. We'd then call this person Timmy and ask that they kindly shut their mouth, unless they wanted us to shut it for them. Permanently. No, we bring this up because we know you're as passionate about the puzzling action of Meteos as we are and would love to see the game be available for play over Wi-Fi. That's why we call on you, fanboys and fangirls, asking that you make this desire known to one and all by sending electronic mails to the game's support address of support-meteosonline [at] qentertainment [dot] com. Together we can make it happen.

This 8.1mb video for the highly-anticipated Every Extend Extra was available at E3, but for all of you out there that were at home, likely covered in salty, warm tears, what is sure to be Tetsuya Mizuguchi's next brilliant offering to the gaming world may be seen. With the smash hits that were Lumines and Meteos, we're willing to bet this game will be just as great. In Every Extend Extra, the goal of the game is for the player to destroy their own ship to create giant chain reaction explosions, which upon being large enough, will reward the player with extra lives, or "extend" gameplay. With a clock ticking away, the tension is huge to pull off amazing explosions and earn "every extended extra" life that you can.[Via QJ]

You know, if you're anything like me, you should be locked up get a lot of hand cramps when trying to play Meteos or Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney for any kind of extended period of time. Most of this can be attributed to the small size of the stylus (some of us aren't lucky enough to have a DS Lite yet to enjoy its better stylus). So I was pretty psyched when I saw an extendable stylus that actually fits in the slot on the DS. In checking around to see if different types of stylus with this feature were available (I honestly couldn't find anywhere to purchase it at the original link), I came across this for the small sum of $2.99 US that also locks into the DS' slot. Buena Vista Games planted a seed today which is sure to blossom into a full tree of DS Fanboy posts. This seed, the small announcement that the company will be publishing a sequel to the wildly-addictive Meteos, titled Meteos: Disney Edition, caused many a raised brow and slow, methodic stroke of the chin. Nothing else was said, but this hasn't stopped us from imagining Disney worlds needing saving from an onslaught of the evil falling blocks.

So a fan wrote us to tell of a dangerous tale, one filled with espionage and lethal death moves only capable of being executed through the precision of the stylus that have laid waste to men much stronger than I. The target of this mission was news on the validity of our report that Meteos could be discontinued. So he emailed Nintendo, most dangerous-like, and received:Hi!Thanks for the e-mail! Meteos has not been discontinued, it wasreleased in June of 2005, and it is still shipping to stores. For helpfinding stores that may have Meteos, head to our website atwww.nintendo.com. Enter the "Customer Service" area (which is located at the bottomof our main page), and then the "Where to Buy" section. Select theappropriate category, and you'll find information on Retail Locations (U.S.only) and Online Retailers (U.S. and Canada) that carry Nintendoproducts.Sincerely,Nintendo of America Inc.Shane O'NeilAlready owning it isn't going to affect most of you much, but for those who own a DS and lack this game's tense, block-rocketting game cartridge, find a friend and get help.[Thanks Sean!]

  • Meteos discontinued?

Some pointing and clicking of your mouse toward the link at the bottom of this post will point you toward a page on Amazon.com to purchase Meteos, the block-rocketing, stylus-heavy puzzle game you already own by mastermind Tetsuya Mizuguchi. What's odd about this page is the fact that Amazon is stating that the game has been discontinued by the manufacturer. Other retailers fail to include this little tidbit on their page, so we're up in the air as to validity at the moment. Likely this post won't affect you, however, as like we said, you already own it.[Via Nintendo Gal]
