It's been four long years since Namco Bandai last graced us with its diminutive pink spelunker Mr. Driller in Mr. Driller Drill Spirits for the Nintendo DS. Thankfully, it's an oversight the company will soon remedy with the newly revealed Mr. Driller Online, a downloadable version of the casual puzzler currently in development for Xbox Live Arcade. Details are currently light, though the game, which so far has only been confirmed for release in Japan this Spring, looks to stay true to the series' uber-cute roots of downward drilling and colors vibrant enough to make a box of Crayolas blush. The game will also include a handful of new modes and gameplay over Xbox Live, making the one thing that has been missing from the saccharine puzzler -- online trash talk -- a reality. The DS Life is a weekly feature in which we scour the known world for narrative images of Nintendo's handhelds and handheld gamers. If you have a photo and a story to match it with, send both to thedslife at dsfanboy dot com.The woman had showered, dressed, and even put her shoes on by the time her husband finally crawled out of bed. They were on vacation, so she didn't mind letting him sleep in. It was an opportunity for her to play Mr. Driller while he went through his own morning routine. She had just taken Susumi past the 10,000 ft. mark when she heard the *click* behind her.

  • Mr Driller on the way to XBLA?

Here in the US we have the ESRB to leak our games news, in Germany they have the USK. The German leak regards a possible XBLA version of the popular puzzle title Mr Driller. The entry has since been removed from the USK's website, though not before the news had been screen-capped (see picture above). There is of course no official news, but the removal does seem to be a sign that this was genuine. The puzzle game involving drilling through and matching blocks looks to coming soon, as the screen-cap seemingly shows the game being reviewed in January. As long as the game has online multiplayer (like the title implies) then color us intrigued.

The dozen or so people that own both a PLAYSTATION 3 and PSP in Japan will be able to play new old PSone games tomorrow, using the newly released 3.03 firmware. The titles, all at a low price of 525 yen, include: R-TYPE Migi Hadari USA Tail of the Sun DINO CRISIS Global Force: Shin Sentou Kokka Gekisou Tomarunner Little Princess (Marl Kingdom) The Combini (Ano Machi o Dokusen seyo) Mister Driller Wasn't Mr. Driller supposed to be out at launch? I wonder what PSone games are heading over to the states (if any).[Via Games & Gadgets]
