This hillarious spoof on the Fiddler on the Roof classic, "If I were a rich man" is by far one of my favorite WoW-inspired videos. This was submitted in 2006 to a Taverncast.com contest, and was a winner. I know its an oldie, but its still funny, and WoW Insider hasn't ever shown it, so this was my chance!

Do we have any Lovecraft fans in the audience? If so, perhaps you'll recognize this jaunty carol set in the Warcraft universe by machinima-maker Asfaril. And if you're not a Lovecraft fan? Well, it's still an entertaining murloc video.Previously on Moviewatch...[Thanks, Mats]

Pallyimba Pictures presents: Murkilla! This is the stuff of nightmares, and it really can't be explained -- you're going to have to hit the play button up there and see it for yourself. And, content aside, the video's a very well-done piece of machinima. I personally can't wait to see the sequel, but will it be Murkilla vs. Mothra or Murkilla vs. Mechamurkilla or something else entirely?Previously on Moviewatch...

Stone Falcon Productions, creators of Ballad of the Newb, which took home first prize for music videos in this summer's Xfire Summer Movie Contest, has come back with another great piece for us to enjoy. And besides having great production value and voice acting, the story is darned funny. To quote my hero, Indiana Jones, "Murlocs. Why 'd it have to be murlocs?" (Well, maybe that's not exactly what he said -- but if he'd played World of Warcraft, I think he'd agree with me.)[Via Casual WoW]

  • Breakfast Topic: Most annoying quest

Prior to the release of the Burning Crusade expansion, if you asked any player what the most annoying quest in the game was, you would probably have overwhelmingly received the answer, "Deep Ocean, Vast Sea." No, this isn't some high level epic quest -- it's just an underwater quest that seems to involve an inordinate number of murlocs. (And in my personal experience, if the murlocs don't get you, then you're likely to drown.) However, with the expansion release, and countless new quests in Outland, that may no longer be the case. (And there are, after all, murlocs in Outland as well!) While I can say that anything with murlocs ranks high on my annoyance scale, I can't quite decide on the most annoying of the new quests in the game. (And, even if I could make up my mind, I'm not sure it would be any more annoying than "Deep Ocean, Vast Sea.") So I'm asking you, dear readers, what's the most annoying quest in World of Warcraft today? And is it an old Azeroth quest or a new Outland adventure?

While you can't see all of the majesty of the Vile Reef from here, these ruins are are just off to the side. I think I'd even enjoy the place if it weren't for the swarming aggressive murlocs and the constant danger of drowning. Reader Arral of Arathor (EU) sent in this shot, noting the amount of time Blizzard put into this game -- even detailing these underwater areas.Do you have a unique shot of Azeroth or Outland that you'd like to show off to the rest of the world? I don't know why this is so funny (maybe it's because I've been getting so little sleep lately thanks to the expansion), but I laughed almost harder than I ever have in the game before when people in our little Blood Elf starting area spontaneously started coming up with movie titles that had the world "Murloc" substituted somewhere in them. For five minutes, the chat was nothing but these, and I was rolling the whole time.A Murloc to Die ForPlanet of the MurlocsI Married a MurlocAn American Murloc in LondonWest Side MurlocThe Murloc WhispererMarch of the MurlocsBig Trouble, Little MurlocThe Murloc EffectCitizen MurlocMurloc FictionMurlocs... In Space!Bridge Over the River MurlocBrokeback MurlocThe weird thing is, this is happening all over the place. A search of the forums shows people got tired of this at least a month ago, so it seems that, like Chuck Norris, this is a meme that keeps bubbling up (to the chagrin of some, I'm sure).Sure, it might not be your kind of humor, but it's the images of each one that get me going-- I think a movie called The Murloc Whisperer would be hilarious. If you have a good one, by all means, put it in the comments below (and if you're tired of it, by all means, skip this post and let those of us with a taste for dumb humor enjoy ourselves).

  • Broken CE pet for EU players, but Blizzard makes up for it double

So Burning Crusade is now live on the European servers, and one mistake has already been made. It's also been fixed, however, and the fix is pretty darn sweet.A few players opened up their expansion packs to find that their code for the Netherwhelp pet didn't work, and they weren't able to get their pet ingame. But Blizzard wasted no time in fixing things: they put up new instructions to get the pet, and they compensated players with not only the Netherwhelp pet, but another pet named Lurky the Murloc (brother, we assume, to Murky, the Murloc pet available at Blizzcon, and Gurky, the pet Blizzard has been giving away in a few places). In addition, they gave 2 free days of play to people affected. On one hand, I'm impressed that Blizzard fixed things so quickly, and was so generous in doing so. But on the other hand, I'm wondering: maybe my expansion could be broken somehow? Please?

Yesterday Mulgrim on Khadgar sent a very nice letter to the Murlocs inviting them (pretty smoothly, I might add) to join the Horde and fight the evil Alliance. Nethaera (that Blue joker) made a joke that she couldn't wait to see a Murloc to English (and vice versa) translator. So of course Dark Legion on Chogall posted one today. Through the magic of "an Orb of Deception, a dozen Thorium Widgets and 2 gnomish engineers," they have finally broken the linguistic gap between those speaking English and our fishy, gurgling friends. In the words of the great Murloc Chieftain, "Mmuuuuil gurrrlle meerwembo'l gurrugl im'chule weutinl, gurrrlle werlgnuglinl mutermil im'chule mutrrglee meerugrlle." You can even go the other way, too, so if you haven't yet memorized Murloc (the language apparently has the same name as the race), you could put that back in and it would tell you what the Chief said in English. And I'm not sure about this (very not sure), but I bet we could even use this to figure out what the Murlocs are saying ingame! One question, though: Is "Aggugguauguguugh" spelled with six Us or seven?

It's all been a bit quiet on the new Alliance race front as of late. However, this image (courtesy of the forums) will help stir up some of the rumours again: it's a very good Photoshopping, in my opinion, but it may spark a few seeds of doubt. Of course, as several other people have said, if the race is Murlocs then I'm switching back to the Alliance.[Thanks, CapAmerica]

  • Murlocs as the new Crazy Frog?

With a poster on the European forums enquiring after the Murloc sound as a phone ringtone, I have a horrible vision of the future. The all-too-familiar Murloc gurgle has something of the same catchiness as the Crazy Frog ringtone; it wouldn't take much for Blizzard, or some enterprising player, to remix the humble "RRrlllllRRR" sound into a new tune of epidemic viral proportions. With a captive audience of over five million who'd buy into the brand, will we see the Crazy Murloc any time soon? Novelty Christmas single, humorous Flash video; the world is just waiting for murlocs to invade.

Jonesing for that rare murloc pet? Wish there was some kind of LAN based competition to compete in for WoW? Guess what...  There is!Everlan is a LANparty in Denver CO that hosts 500-600 gamers and they are being sponsored by Blizzard. They have a whole slew of WoW competition lined up for party goers, including scavenger hunts, leveling races, and other in-game competitions. Makes me wish I lived in Denver :P.Kudos to these guys, I know it was a challange to throw a 120 person party, so I tip my hat to them for their 500-600 gamers!
