Philo cuts its most affordable TV streaming plan
The budget TV streaming service Philo announced it's eliminating its lower-cost subscription. Beginning May 6th, Philo will drop its $16-per-month plan, offering only a $20 monthly subscription. The move puts Philo on a growing list of streaming TV providers that have increased prices in the past few months.
Nicktoons MLB seriously combines Nicktoons and Major League Baseball [update 1]
Ever wonder how Stimpy would fare against Robinson Cano from the New York Yankees on the baseball field? All the time, right? 2K Play is giving you the chance to experience this ultimate matchup, while also seeing the athletic prowess of characters like Fanboy, Spongebob, Chum Chum and even Invader Zim. Nicktoons MLB for Kinect, Wii, and DS allows you to play baseball as a bunch of Nicktoons characters, as well as a roster of real, human Major League Baseball players from all 30 teams. High Voltage is developing the two console versions, and Black Lantern is working on the DS version, all due this summer. Nice to see all those characters from cancelled shows getting work! Update: Final, final update: you actually can play as both the Nicktoons characters and the MLB players. 2K Play cleared that up with us just now.
Video Marketplace HD blowout
Major Nelson posted the latest releases for Video Marketplace yesterday evening. Items worth noting include nine of the movies released are available in glorious High Definition. This week also introduces Lionsgate Films into the growing list of Video Marketplace partners. LGF happens to be based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, right next to the Fanboy Igloo HQ. Finally, Skyland from Nicktoons is available with the show's pilot episode FREE to download until 11:59 PST on Monday, January 29th. Nicktoons Networks shows on iTunes Store
The Nicktoons Network has added some content to the iTunes Store. Skyland, set in the year 2251 on an Earth that has been shattered into million pieces, and the Nicktoons Network Animation Festival. The Festival features seven episodes of animation from around the world including South Africa, Chine and the Philippines.Each episode costs $1.99 though you can get the first episode of Skyland completely gratis, for a limited time.[via iLounge]
