As if summoned by our claim last week of the Virtual Console's death, Sunsoft swoops in with a really interesting Virtual Console game! Sunsoft (who also published the last one) might be the only company left releasing retro games on the Wii Shop. WiiWare has a (single) interesting release as well: the physics-based puzzle platformer And Yet It Moves, which has moved from PC to WiiWare with new modes and some new levels.%Gallery-98837%

There's no Virtual Console this week, but there is a game about giving people massages. So ... yeah. WiiWare is also host to a sequel to Hudson's My Aquarium, while DSiWare features a gravity-shifting puzzle adventure, chess, an extremely complicated-looking music program and something for the little ones. Your kids learn how to count, while you learn chess and massage techniques! Education!%Gallery-99092%

Aksys Games dominates the Nintendo download services today, with one game on WiiWare and another on DSiWare. The unbearably cute BlayzBloo: Super Melee Action Battle Royale brings chibi BlazBlue to DSiWare today, while WiiWare features Deer Captor, a deer hunting game. Oh, and Virtual Console is missing again. %Gallery-98302%

Nintendo's perfect no-Virtual Console streak continues with no retro re-releases announced for July. As usual, there are plenty of choices on WiiWare and DSiWare, including Gamelion's Furry Legends, which is an interesting-looking side-scroller ... despite the name. DSiWare this week is mostly populated by insane minigames, time-management games, and sudoku -- the unique mix of not-that-interesting stuff that seems to characterize the service every week. Most interesting? A game designed to make you better at Scrabble. %Gallery-97746%

This week, WiiWare offers another reborn indie game. Toribash doesn't quite have the reputation of Cave Story, but it does have nonsensical violence and the ability to control fighters one limb at a time. If you're looking for something different from a fighting game, it doesn't get much more different than this. DSiWare also borrows some indie cred this week, with Jason Rohrer's iPhone puzzler Primrose moving to DS. Virtual Console ... is taking July off, so far. %Gallery-97328%

The Virtual Console is resting for the holiday, but Nintendo has attempted to compensate for its absence with so much DSiWare. If you like ... browsing the DSi Shop, this is the week for you. Meanwhile, WiiWare has two games, including a WWII air combat game that sounds surprisingly full-featured for WiiWare. %Gallery-96911%

There's a Virtual Console game this week! It's kind of hard to believe. It's even a Mario game -- a Mario sports game, but a Mario game nonetheless. Meanwhile, WiiWare hosts a 3D platformer that appears very Mario-like, and DSiWare introduces North America to Maestro, a musical platforming game that was only released in Europe in its full cartridge incarnation.

Nintendo follows up a thrilling E3 with something that it didn't mention much at the show: WiiWare and DSiWare. A new Art Style game leads the offerings on WiiWare, joined by two of Square Enix's weirdest games in recent memory -- two games about tossing paper bears underhand. Read more about these games, along with a wide selection of new DSiWare games, after the break. We don't have anything illuminating to say about this week's Virtual Console selection, because there is none. %Gallery-86441%

This is the final NintendoWare Weekly update before Nintendo's E3 conference tomorrow. What kind of exciting changes will tomorrow bring? Does it even matter, now that Bejeweled 2 is on the Wii? WiiWare Bejeweled 2 (PopCap, 1 Player, 1000 Wii Points) If you ever want to see your Wii console again, you'll make sure that your casual-gaming family do not ever, ever find out about the launch of Bejeweled 2 on WiiWare. They haven't seen this news post, have they? Arcade Sports (Icon, 2 Players, 800 Wii Points) Just in case your system didn't come with a multiplayer bowling game, this new WiiWare offering provides four sports to play: air hockey, bowling, pool and snooker. Yard Sale Hidden Treasures: Sunnyville (Konami, 1 Player, 500 Wii Points) As the last vampire slayer of Sunnyville (probably), you must search local yard sales on a mission to find hidden treasures and save the world.

The highlight of this week's releases on DSiWare is a stylish, spacefaring puzzle game from Nintendo about incinerating space trash. All the science-fictional manmade junk contrasts nicely with WiiWare's Lead the Meerkats, which simulates the life of a group of meerkats in their natural habitat. We'd find a clever way to tie in this week's Virtual Console releases, but there aren't any. Also, if you haven't downloaded Photo Dojo, you should do so at your earliest convenience. It's free through June 11. %Gallery-94549%

Even though it's a holiday here in the US, Nintendo has released a plethora of new downloadable titles for the Wii and DSi. It's a great thing, not simply because OMG moar gamez, but because it gives us a distraction from the day's festivities. There's only so much of Aunt Linda's trip to the Grand Canyon we can listen to, you know? %Gallery-86442%

There hasn't been a new Art Style game on WiiWare since October 2008 -- they've all gone to DSiWare since that platform launched. Today, the series returns to Wii, in much the same way as it started: with a fancy update to a GBA Bit Generations game. It's accompanied by a compelling, odd-looking game from NIS America. Meanwhile, DSiWare has poker, a vertical shmup, a puzzle game about racing, and a hidden object game about historical crime. See all the new downloads after the break. %Gallery-86440%

It's quite the week for the DSi and Wii as far as downloadables go -- Bit.Trip Runner arrives on WiiWare today and EA, Tecmo Koei and Konami all offer solid titles for DSiWare. Oh, and you can finally get your hands on Looksley's Line Up, the interesting 3D DSiWare game from Nintendo. There's even a new Virtual Console game starring a certain hungry pink blob to check out!

If you've had the slightest interest in Photo Dojo, Nintendo's weird DSiWare fighting game that uses the camera to make its fighters, you should download it today. If you don't have any interest in that, you should download it today. If you've never heard of Photo Dojo, go ahead and load up the DSi Shop anyway. If you have a DSi, there's basically no reason you shouldn't download Photo Dojo today. It's free for the next month, is what we're saying. %Gallery-86444%

This week's NintendoWare Weekly is brought to you by insanity. The eclectic mixture of downloadable content on the virtual table this week is quite odd, with everything from spoofs on '70s kung-fu flicks to "scented dwarves" coming to DS and Wii owners.

There is a lot of stuff on the Wii and DSi Shops this week, but no obvious standouts. The most potentially exciting games are a Lemmings-like thing about dodo eggs, a DSiWare version of a Scrabble card game we didn't know existed, and a fighting game of which you might already have three or four copies. Head past the break to see more assorted stuff.

    04.19.2010

The Wii's Mega Man arsenal has grown once again, adding Mega Man 4 to the collection of games that can be chosen from a menu and loaded up -- you know, like weapons on Mega Man's arm, except acquired through commerce and not robot murder. They'd be very different games if you had access to a charge card instead of a Charge Shot. Speaking of growing collections, DSiWare is now home to three more downloadable Game & Watch simulators, putting us all well on the way to understanding Mr. Game & Watch's attacks in Super Smash Bros. (Hint: You'll want to use the sausages.) See all the available downloads after the break.

[The Arcade Flyer Archive] The original arcade version of Zaxxon is available on Virtual Console this week! Trust us: this is very exciting if you're old. However, as we like to do when this sort of thing pops up, we're offering this public service announcement: if you have either the PS2 Sega Genesis Collection disc or Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, you already have this game! Check out all the WiiWare, Virtual Console, and DSiWare offerings after the break.
