Even with some of us being very late (see: the author of this post), we still managed to get our game on. Races were had in Mario Kart DS and we tasted the utterly horrible, yet very familiar, taste of defeat. Oh well, there is always next week to reclaim our honor as kinda OK at games.Oh, wait, next week is Thanksgiving! Sorry, but we'll have to wait until the following week before getting back to Game Night. It's a holiday and we'll be busy taking various naps fueled by our bellies full of turkey. So, enjoy the holiday and we'll see you guys at Game Night on November 29th!%Poll-5868%

If you're anything like us, when you punched out of work last night or perhaps as you were finishing dinner with the family, you felt a slight tingle run down your spine. It was the calling. It lets you know that something big is coming. An epic struggle, between the forces of Lite and Phat, where men and women meet in the arena of combat, DS clutched tightly in their hands. Well, tonight is the night it all goes down. So, kiss you loved ones goodbye and prepare for the fight of your life.

TDK Core's DS Puzzler Nanpure Fan & Oekaki Logic Wi-Fi Taiou (DS Puzzler Sudoku and Picture Logic Wi-Fi Interaction) is a pretty simple game design: a bunch of sudoku and picross-type puzzles. And that's fine! People like picross and sudoku. But DS Puzzler goes beyond the normal self-motivated challenge of these puzzle games by including online rankings for both. We're familiar with this kind of thing in a picross setting, but we certainly wouldn't want anyone to see how, uh, great we are at sudoku. And we're pretty sure we'd embarrass ourselves with these more complicated, colorful picross puzzles too.

Like a walk of shame after a one-night stand, we found ourselves wishing that last night's Game Night session could've lasted longer for us and not have come to a close. But, those pesky responsibilities of ours always seem to get in the way. Oh well, them's the breaks.Hit up the poll below and vote for next week's theme game. %Poll-5454%

Today, DS Fanboy has a nice little treat for all of our readers. We sit down and speak with Rich Amtower, who works in Nintendo's Treehouse division. Responsible for adapting Japanese titles to the English, French and Spanish markets, you can imagine he's got quite the difficult job to do. That doesn't stop us from bugging him for an interview, though.First of all, explain who you are and what your duties are with the company? My name is Rich Amtower, and I work in the localization department. Our job is to take games made in Japan and make them feel like they were made in America, basically -- that means recording English voices if there are Japanese voices in a game, translating and rewriting Japanese text into English (and now French and Spanish), and doing whatever sorts of alterations need to be made so that when gamers pick up a title, they feel like they're playing something tailor-made for them.

Last night's Game Night was kind of a bust, we must admit. There wasn't that great a turnout and connection problems plagued the participants. But, hey, that's life; we can't control everything. But, there's always next week to look forward to. And, it's also time to reset the poll, so let's get to it! What should be our theme game for 9/13/07? As the work week nears its end, Game Night presents itself. Like a small rodent ducking its head out from a hole in the ground, it quickly scans the surrounding landscape for predators. Oh, but it doesn't know about us, as we spring from behind it, grip it and wrestle it to the ground. We have conquered the beast and now prepare for Game Night!

Last night's session was, again, hindered by Nintendo's servers. For some reason, everyone reported lag across the board. That isn't to say we weren't able to get our game on, though. When we woke this morning, it was very reminiscent of Christmas mornings as a child, as we sprung out of bed and ran out to the living room with a large smile on our face. We knew this day of all days would ensure that we got to at least play one game, no matter how busy we are. Are you ready to take that hour-long break with us later on?

  • Picross not hard enough?

Plain old picross, like sudoku, does a perfectly adequate job of scrambling our otherwise capable brain stuff. We watch with terror as more grid-filling puzzle games come to the DS, and hope nobody holds a gun to our head and tells us to solve one of these things. By the way, if you were planning to do that, don't. It's rude.Hudson's Illustlogic DS + Colorful Logic adds different colored tiles to the grid. Even if you mark in the correct location, you can still get it wrong because of the color. Trying to placate us with the occasional Bomberman powerup doesn't distract us from the fact that Hudson hates us and wants to give us stress headaches!

  • Tops on GameFly DS: Brain Age 2

No wonder the Brain Age franchise keeps getting NoA's Reggie Fils-Aime in trouble -- we're all renting it instead of buying it, according to GameFly. We're actually pretty surprised to see Brain Age 2 at the top of the list on the rental service. The other games rounding out the current top five most-requested DS titles aren't surprising to us at all; it's a rousing round of try-before-you-buy, especially with the sketchy Heroes of Mana swinging in at number two. We can even understand people wanting to try out Picross; after all, not everyone loves paint-by-number, even when it comes in an awesome package. But with a budget-priced sequel, we figured most people who were interested enough in Brain Age 2 to be looking ahead would just pick it up come release day, or toss down a preorder somewhere. Are you looking at this one as a rental? Maybe considering that shiny bundle? While you ponder, check out the current top five most-requested DS titles at GameFly; we've tucked the list behind the break. %Gallery-3436%
