If paint by number gets you so excited you can't even see straight, have patience -- your day in the sun is coming, courtesy of the DS. A Jeux France blogger got their hands on an import copy of Picross DS and had nothing but love for the game, particularly when it came to the online mode. Might be worth importing, for those of you who hate waiting for localizations that may never come.

Today is an expensive day for the import crowd, and only slightly less expensive for gamers living in Japan. Thanks to Namco, Konami, From, Taito, and Nintendo, we have no choice but to blow a stash of Yen on these excellent new releases: Idol Master (Namco's 'teen girl pop sensation management sim', pictured, is possibly not as dodgy as it seems; Xbox 360) Parodius Portable (Konami's definitive collection of witty shmups, which includes the sublime Sexy Parodius; PSP) Salamander Portable (more Konami love, including Xexex; PSP) Twinbee Portable (thank Konami this includes Pop'N Twinbee; PSP) Enchant Arm (so good that From Software released it twice; PS3) Taito Memories 2, Vol. 1 (obscene love from Taito, ending with Bubble Memories; PS2) Picross DS (it's Picross, but cleverer; DS)

The Japanese Touch Generations site has been updated with all sorts of new Picross content, including several videos that not only showcase the game, but show off a little tag team multiplayer action. Oh, we don't mean with multiple DS units running the game ... rather, having more than one person working on the same puzzle. Dual brains for your dual screens? Sure can make puzzlin' a little easier.[Via DS-x2]

It's full of numbers! Who'd have thought? That does make it somewhat more easy for the non-Japanese speaker to navigate, so if you're so inclined, go dig around for the screens and more, including lots and lots of very clear images proclaiming Picross WiFi action will be available soon.

Talk about the obvious -- Picross DS! Of course, there are so many things for which the stylus is well-suited, but this is one that was certain to make it to the Nintendo handheld sooner or later. Not that we'd ever admit to any weakness at all, because Nintendo fans are the ultimate in human beings ... but that cat is awfully cute. Check out the rest of the screens after the jump!
