Past Neptune, in the outer solar system, astronomers have recently discovered a new mystery object orbiting the sun on a plane nearly perpendicular to the rest of the planets. Adding to the weirdness, the trans-Neptunian object, which has been nicknamed "Niku," is also spinning around the sun backwards, in the opposite direction of the rest of the planets. So far, astronomers have little idea what could cause such abnormal celestial behavior.

It took us almost 50 years to get a close look at Pluto, so we think it's safe to say humanity has to wait a while before we can catch a glimpse of Planet Nine. In fact, we still have to prove that it really does exist. Mike Brown, who played a key role in the downgrade of Pluto, has reported that there's new evidence of a ninth planet. Brown and his colleague Konstantin Batygin inferred the celestial body's existence based on the movements of several objects in the Kuiper Belt. Now, Brown tweeted a slide presented by SETI that shows yet another Kuiper Belt object whose movement is influenced by a large mass that could be the mysterious planet.

Astronomers from the California Institute of Technology (CIT) announced on Wednesday that they have found evidence to suggest that our solar system does indeed have a ninth planet -- a rather enormous one at that. This as-of-yet unnamed planet, which is being referred to as "Planet Nine" for the time being, is thought to be between five and ten times the size of the Earth and orbits so far beyond Pluto that it circles the sun just once every 10,000 to 20,000 years.
