An animated trailer showcasing the plot of the upcoming Pokemon Black and White Version 2 games was released on the official Pokemon website, and features the return of the villainous N and Team Plasma. Though the website notes that the video is not intended to be used during the games, the Japanese trailer sheds a little light on the characters involved in the DS sequels. In addition to the familiar foes, it seems players can expect to see friends-of-the-hero Bianca and Cheren. The games are due out on June 23 in Japan and will launch some time in the fall in North America.

New screenshots released today introduce the new starting point in Pokemon Black Version 2 and White Version 2. Aspertia City is a location new to the series, though of course "new" is relative in the world of Pokemon. From that location, you'll begin your investigation of how the Unova setting has changed since the events of two years ago. And you'll catch lots of Pokemon and fight gym leaders and stuff.Nintendo also sent out the new box arts, allowing you to see Black Kyurem and White Kyurem facing each other down just as they will on retail shelves. Unless they're shelved in a different order, in which case they'll be defiantly facing away from each other.%Gallery-155420%

We don't know if you guys realize this or not, but Japanese is dramatically different from English. They use different keyboard layouts and everything, which can make understanding the media somewhat of a challenge. Some things however, like this latest trailer for Pokemon Black and White 2, transcend the man-made boundaries of language by communicating on a far more primal, emotional level. Debuted during last night's Nintendo Direct event in Japan, the above trailer showcases tons of gameplay, what appears to be a water-type gym and a bunch of words we don't understand.

Several images from the upcoming Pokemon Black Version 2 and White Version 2 have surfaced in Japan's CoroCoro magazine, reports Serebii.net. The images offer a few details about the game, which has so far been contained in a Pokeball of silence. Black and White 2 takes place two years after the first and will be set in Unova, part of which seems to be frozen. The game kicks off in a new area, Hiougi City. The Unova Pokedex includes 300 Pokemon, featuring both new and familiar pocket monsters. If you crave more granular information – and we know you do – head over to Serebii.net (or crack open your freshly imported copy of CoroCoro). Pokemon Black Version 2 and White Version 2 are slated to arrive on the DS in Japan this June. The North American release will arrive this fall.

Pokemon Black/White Version 2 are slated to hit Japanese DSes this June, with a North American release later this fall. If previous titles are any indication, this Japanese box art should be roughly analogous to what we'll get in our stores, as hungry Pokemaniacs ravage the land of its resources.

Pokemon Black and White 2 has just been announced on Pokemon Smash, an official Pokemon television program in Japan. The sequel to Pokemon Black and White will launch for the DS in Japan this June. No further specifics are yet available regarding North American availability, new Pokemon or any battle-system changes that may occur. This will be the first numbered sequel to a traditional Pokemon game; previous generations have consisted of two initial releases followed by a single, similarly-titled "enhanced" version: Pokemon Diamond and Pearl followed by Pokemon Platinum, for instance. Now, however, we'll have Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2. Whether this distinction is purely cosmetic or carries heavier gameplay implications, remains unclear. All we know for certain is that, by now, the PokeRap must be several hours long.Update: A statement on the US Pokemon site calls the games "Pokemon Black Version 2" and "Pokemon White Version 2" and says that details will be sent out "throughout the year." Looks like the game is heading to the US as well -- surprise!
