After the PSN update that never was last week, you'd be justified in feeling like Sony owes you something special for this week's update. If you happen to like PS1 games or add-ons, then you're in luck. If not, maybe Sony will pay you back next week. Here's the full release list: N20 PS1 game (£3.49) Hardcore 4X4 PS1 game (£3.49) Motorstorm "Double Track Pack" add-on (£3.49) Folklore "Pigly Pack" add-on (free) Devil May Cry 4 "TGS 2007 Trailer 2" (free) PixelJunk Monsters trailer (free) Bionic Commando trailer (free) Devil May Cry 4 wallpapers (free) It's always nice to see PS1 games that we weren't expecting. This "Pigly Pack" for Folklore is unlike the normal quest packs - there are no quests or costumes included, just a new folk to collect. As a result this piece of DLC is completely free of charge, which suits us fine. So, commenters, does this satisfy?

  • PS3 firmware 2.10 allows Remote Play of PS1 games

That new PS3 firmware that just dropped has a little more going for it than just DivX and WMV support -- Sony's enabled PSP Remote Play of PS1 games from a PS3, no matter whether they're downloaded from the PSN Store or the actual physical games inserted in the PS3's drive. Our peeps at PSP Fanboy tested it out and found it worked great with both a downloaded copy of Wild Arms and the disc of Metal Gear Solid. This means you could theoretically leave all those pesky UMDs at home and play games from anywhere in the world with a net connection -- as soon as Sony gets some more PS1 games online.[Via Joystiq]

  • European PSN update for November 22nd

Due to some strange pagan ritual known across America as "Thanksgiving", the American PSN Store was updated on Tuesday rather than today. The European Store, however, is not at the mercy of such whimsy. Today's update is already available and includes the following: G-Police PS1 game (£3.49) Uncharted demo (free) Blazing Angels 2 demo (free) Motorstorm "Rascal & Governer" add-on pack (£1.49) Folklore "The Alchemist Pack" (£1.49) Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection wallpapers (free) Ratchet & Clank trailer (free) Motorstorm "Devil's Weekend" trailer (free) Uncharted "Lifelike Facial Animation" trailer (free) Uncharted "Hunting El Dorado" trailer (free) PSN Showcase trailer (free) Blazing Angels 2 trailers (free) Battlefield: Bad Company trailer (free) Beowulf: The Game trailer (free) The only sad thing about this update is that it means we have to wait at least another week for Guitar Hero 3 downloadable content. With the US content incompatible with the European copy of the game (trust us, we tried) we were hoping the Foo Fighters and Velvet Revolver tracks would be out today in readiness for tomorrow's release of the game. No matter, we've a smattering of interesting downloads today, including a PS1 game, two demos and a couple of add on packs. Could be worse.

How strange it feels to write a PSN Store releases post on Tuesday. Even stranger is the fact that PlayStation Eye games have finally reached America. Only two, but that's better than nothing. What else is available? Good question. Here's the full release list: Operation Creature Feature PlayStation Eye game ($4.99) Aquatopia PlayStation Eye game ($1.99) MX vs ATV: Untamed demo (free) flOw add-on pack ($2.99) Need For Speed Prostreet Collector's Upgrade add-on pack ($9.99)

Do you own a PSP but not a PS3? Are you jealous of PS3 owners downloading exclusive PSP content? Well Sony has finally come to your rescue. A PC version of the PlayStation Store is now available for those of you without a PlayStation 3. This store actually includes exclusive content not available on the PS3 store, including full PSP games such as Wipeout Pure and Gangs of London. The interface is really nice and easy to navigate and for those of you who do have a PS3 you can sign in using your PlayStation Network ID and it will link through to show all your downloaded items. You can also edit your account details, including adding money to your wallet. No doubt this service will continue to evolve over time and we look forward to seeing it do so.Update: Read the full step-by-step guide to using the Store here.[Thanks, pecorre!]

  • Two PlayStation Eye games available on the PSN Store later today

A new post on the PlayStation.Blog details two PlayStation Eye "games" that are finally on their way to the American PSN Store. Operation Creature Feature and Aqua Vita have been available on the EU Store for a couple of weeks now, but later today they'll be available to download from the American store too. Operation Creature Feature will sell for $4.99 and the interactive screensaver Aqua Vita will cost only $1.99. The former is definitely worth a punt, especially for the cost, but Aqua Vita can probably be left unless you're a huge fan of digital fish. No doubt more PS Eye games will be put up in the coming weeks and today's update should also include some other content. We'll let you know what's available once we've found out.

So apparently next Thursday is "Thanksgiving Day". Who knew? Because of this it seems that the PSN update will be occurring on Tuesday, instead. Why Tuesday? Why not Wednesday? Or Friday? Good questions! To be brutally honest, we have no idea. Word of the date change was found on the PlayStation.Blog where Grace Chen let everybody know in the comments section so we are doing our job and passing the message on to you, our dear readers.

These PSN updates seem to be getting later and later don't they? Oh well, it's finally up and it's pretty good. Not amazing, by any stretch of the imagination (and there is something missing) but we can't really complain. Here's the full release list: Toy Home demo (free) Blazing Angels 2 demo (free) PlayStation Network video (free) Toy Home trailer (free) High Velocity Bowling trailer (free) PAIN launch trailer (free) Uncharted "Meet The Dogs" video (free) Ratchet & Clank "Animation" behind the scenes video (free) Ratchet & Clank "Gameplay" behind the scenes video (free) Timeshift video (free) Time Crisis 4 trailer (free) Battlefield: Bad Company trailer (free) Burnout "Playgroud" video (free) The Dark Knight movie trailer (free) This Christmas movie trailer (free) Remember That Night Blu-Ray trailer (free) Put those wallets away! There's nothing on this list that will cost you any money. We were so impressed last week when we got some Guitar Hero 3 downloadable content on the same day as 360 owners. Seeing as how the "Boss Battles" song pack was released on Xbox Live today, we assumed that the same thing would happen this week.Apparently not. We're quite disheartened by this, so excuse us while we tuck into a tub of ice cream and watch all of these Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted behind the scenes videos. Now, where did we put that last tub of Cookie Dough Ben & Jerry's ...

It's that day you've all been waiting for: Thursday. But this Thursday is special - today the Uncharted: Drake's Fortune demo is available to download. Not only that, but we have received the same Guitar Hero III DLC that XBox 360 owners got on the same day. We're going to go on record and say that, honestly, we did not expect to see that happening. Here's the full release list: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune demo (free) College Hoops 2K8 demo (free) Motorstorm "Devil's Weekend" add-on pack ($5.99) Guitar Hero III "Velvet Revolver" add-on pack ($6.25) Guitar Hero III "Foo Fighters" add-on pack ($6.25) PS3 themes - Pink, Nature and Pixel (free) Devil May Cry 4 Tokyo Game Show trailer (free) Motorstorm "Devil's Weekend" trailer (free) Ratchet and Clank launch trailer (free) WWE Smackdown vs RAW trailer (free) Burnout "Carson GT" trailer (free) Burnout "Manhatten" trailer (free) One Missed Call movie trailer (free) Sweeney Todd movie trailer (free) Hostel Part II Blu-Ray trailer (free) The Uncharted demo weighs in at an impressive 1200 megabytes, so get the download started soon. The fact that the Guitar Hero III downloadable content is available today bodes incredibly well for future third party downloadables. These two packs each contain three songs each; "Messages", "She Builds Quick Machines" and "Slither" for the Velvet Revolver pack and "The Pretender", "This is a Call" and "All My Life" for the Foo Fighters pack. Another pack will be available later in the month containing the three boss battles from the game which will be playable in Quickplay mode - this pack will be downloadable for free.

  • PlayStation opens PS Store in four new territories

Sony has announced today that they have finally opened the PSN Store in four new worldwide territories. Since the European launch in March people have been complaining that their country has had no access to the online Store, instead having to set up a UK or American account in order to get hold of downloads. Now Poland, Greece, Saudi Arabia and the Czech Republic all have access starting today. The great thing is that these stores will "mirror the other SCEE stores" in terms of content, meaning that there's a large selection of content to start downloading - including Calling All Cars, Super Stardust HD and Warhawk. Not only that, but the stores open just in time for PSN Update Thursday. We'll let you know what the update contains, as usual, when we find out.

  • Uncharted demo hitting the PSN Store on November 8th

Hungry for some interactive Uncharted? We've all seen enough screenshots and videos to last us a lifetime - no doubt you guys want to try some hands on. It seems the guys (gender neutral, of course) over at Naughty Dog understand this and Amy Hennig (who we have a dev-crush on simply due to her work on the Legacy of Kain series) has replied to a poster on the PlayStation.Blog with some very good news.An Uncharted: Drake's Fortune demo will be available on the US PlayStation Network store on November the 8th - just over a week away! So if you're available on that day and you're not swamped with all the recent-and-upcoming new releases then make sure you give it a download. The even better news is that if you enjoy the demo you will have less than two weeks to wait to play the game - the US release is set to November 20th.

Sony has surprised us. The European PSN update is already live. PS1 fans - prepare yourselves, you're in for a treat. Everyone else, well ... there's always next week. Here's the full release list: Crash Team Racing PS1 game (£3.49) Everybody's Golf 2 PS1 game (£3.49) Syphon Filter PS1 game (£3.49) Dynasty Warrior: Gundam demo (free) Uncharted "The Inspiration" trailer (free) Alien Versus Predator Blu-Ray trailer (free) We're pretty happy with this update. It's certainly a step up from a couple of months ago. We remember the days when getting a single demo was reason to celebrate. Unfortunately, it would appear the "roadmap" seems to have been false. Having said that, however, it was right on the money with regards to the PS1 games, so we're going to remain optimistic that everything on the list will be available at some point within the next few weeks. We'll keep you updated.

  • July's European PSN Store offerings - Heavenly Sword demo and more

We've managed to get our hands on what exactly we can expect from the EU PSN Store this month. After this week's huge update, we had high hopes that this month would continue offering us some excellent content. Those hopes seem to be well founded. Check out the list of releases for the upcoming weeks. While not exhaustive, this list focuses on major, highly-anticipated playable content. Heavenly Sword demo Crash Bandicoot 2 PS1 game for PS3/PSP Spyro 2 PS1 game for PS3/PSP WipEout 2097 PS1 game for PS3/PSP MediEvil PS1 game for PS3/PSP We've also heard mention of the Blast Factor expansion, Snakeball and Feel Ski but aren't certain whether these will be coming our way in July. If not, then we'll probably see them in August. Also on the horizon is news about Warhawk and the Motorstorm Coyote Weekend VIP Pass update. Oh, and in the run up to the Heavenly Sword release in September we'll be seeing five "Animated History" videos which give the game some backstory, along with some more making-of content appearing on the Store too. No doubt each week will be peppered with the normal trailers as well.
