Forsaken World is taking its players to the frozen north today, as Perfect World's fantasy title released its second Nightfall update. This update centers around a brand-new 12v12 battleground in the colder climes of Eyrda. Perfect World said that the Frostgale Fjord battleground is quite flexible, boasting level-based matchmaking. It also is tempting; in it, skilled and lucky players can attain tough gear and rare mounts. PvPers get expanded soul power trees and the option of better weapons for their fights as well. The update also gives a boost to the game's guilds with a treasure system. Guild members can complete special quests to unlock a treasure chest and gain access to the wealth inside. The more quests completed, the better the treasure becomes.

Following ArcheAge here in the West often involves copious use of Google Translate as well as wading through tons of difficult-to-decipher web postings. Fortunately, the player community likes to post gameplay videos from the sandpark title's various Korean closed betas, and today we've stumbled across a couple of noteworthy clips that aren't subject to the whims of online translation. Both clips center around PvP, and though ArcheAge will feature world PvP in certain areas, the game also boasts battlegrounds for those who prefer less randomness. The first video features a Mage/Bard/Archer player in a skirmish against an invading pirate guild. The second clip takes place inside a battleground and features the same class combo again. There's quite a bit more footage on this one, though, and the 13-minute running time gives us a pretty good look at what it's like to siege a castle. You'll find both videos after the cut.

Many players were a bit confused about some of the rules and mechanics revolving around the new rated battlegrounds coming in Cataclysm. Blizzard has, thankfully, posted a new FAQ on the official forums detailing some common questions players had about the new system. Some highlights include the three brackets (10v10, 15v15, 25v25); weekly conquest point caps based on your highest PvP rating in any bracket; and winning in a group comprised of 80 percent guild members awarding guild experience.
