UK retailers are already gearing up for the holiday season with some console promotions, including GameStop's £300 deal on a glacier white PlayStation 4. The brightly white PS4 was first available as part of the Destiny bundle, but then Sony released it as a standalone a few weeks ago. GameStop's promo offer is a £30 cut off its regular listing, and £50 less than Sony's recommended retail price. Meanwhile, Super Smash Bros Wii U is a few weeks out from its newly bumped-up November 28 release date in Her Maj's kingdom. As Nintendo Life reports, a few British retailers are taking the opportunity to bundle the brawler with the 8GB Basic Wii U, which Nintendo's been trying to phase out instead of the 32GB model. Those retailers include ShopTo, which has the white Wii U, Super Smash Bros. and New Super Mario Bros U going for £190.

Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby are getting their own steelbook bundles in Europe, complete with Kyogre and Groudon figurines respectively. Bundles including the game are coming to GAME and Nintendo's online store in the UK, and will be available for pre-order. The House of Mario Marowak lists the steelbook and figurine separately at £40; we've reached out to confirm if that also includes the game at that price. The Poke-remakes are also scoring some other pre-order goodies in the UK. Pre-orders of the standalone version at GAME get the respective figure chucked in, while early birds at Shopto will get their own early bird, namely a 2D keyring of Torchic. As for the small matter of the game itself, it hits 3DS in North America on November 21, then a week across the pond on November 28. [Image: Nintendo]

  • You can buy a PlayStation 4 for £300 right now

New consoles are never easy on the wallet, so anything to take some of the sting out of that purchase is always appreciated. Case in point: well-known retailer ShopTo has just dropped the price of a brand-new PlayStation 4 to a penny under £300, which is quite simply the lowest price we've come across yet. That's basically a £50 saving compared with almost every other retailer (barring one that's selling the console for £325 via Play.com). This particular deal is only available through ShopTo's eBay storefront, and we've no idea how long the discount will be in effect for, so you might wanna ride that impulse straight to the checkout to be sure you don't miss out.

Several UK retailers are offering a choice between FIFA 14 or Forza Motorsport 5 when pre-ordering an Xbox One "Day One Edition" console, including Amazon UK, ShopTo and, with an oddly sold-out listing, GAME. Previously, all Xbox One "Day One Edition" pre-orders in Europe secured a copy of FIFA 14. The Xbox One will launch across 13 markets on November 22. It will be available in North America for $500, in Europe for €500 and in the UK for £430. The standard Xbox One console includes the Xbox One, improved Kinect sensor, a headset, one controller, plus the requisite HDMI cable, power supply and a Quick Start guide. The "Day One Edition" of Xbox One includes all of the standard gear, but swaps out the controller for a special branded "Day One" variant on top of special packaging, and a code for an exclusive achievement.

Retailers Amazon UK and ShopTo have posted messages stating that all PlayStation 4 pre-orders made on or after August 6 will not be rendered on launch day. On August 1, retailer GAME stated it was unaware of its launch day allocation, but promised pre-order customers would have "priority" on stock. Many retailers started taking PS4 pre-orders on June 10, following Sony's $399 announcement at E3. On top of pre-orders for the console itself, many retailers are also accepting pre-orders for the DualShock 4 controller and the PS4 Eye camera, priced at $60 each.

After the announcement of a $399 PS4 console later this year, you may be asking yourself how you'll secure one. Well, dear friend, relax and allow us to help – several retailers are now accepting pre-orders for Sony's new console. Amazon, GameStop, GAME, Walmart and ShopTo are all taking pre-orders right now. We'll keep our eye out for other retailers – if we missed any, feel free to let us know in the comments!

If an MSRP of $499.99 isn't too rich for your blood, good news: several online retailers are now offering pre-orders on Microsoft's Xbox One console. Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, ShopTo, and GAME have started taking orders on Microsoft's new console, which will ship at a to-be-announced date this November. Curiously, as of this writing, Target and Walmart are only offering pre-orders on Xbox One games and accessories, but expect that to change when these retailers remember how much they like money.

  • UK retailers Asda, ShopTo drop Wii U below £200

UK retailers ShopTo and Asda are selling the Wii U Basic Pack at sub-£200 prices, taking more than 20 percent off the launch price just three months after the console's release.Walmart-owned supermarket chain Asda chops £50 off the launch prices of both the 8GB Basic and 32GB Premium Packs on its online store, taking them down to £199 (around $300) and £249 ($375) respectively. Meanwhile, online retailer ShopTo goes one better, selling the Basic Pack at £189.85. The 8GB packs in question don't come with additional games, while the 32GB Premium Pack includes Nintendo Land. While other UK retailers are selling at the launch price or close to it, the emergence of sharp cuts so soon must be concerning for Nintendo. Earlier this year, the company cut the Wii U's life-to-date projections for the end of March 2013 by 1.5 million, down to 4M units, while a report suggests it sold "well under" 100,000 units across January in North America.Nintendo will be hoping March, which sees a number of Wii U releases including Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Lego City Undercover, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted, will spur a strong performance for the console.

  • Metal Gear Solid 4 '25th Anniversary Edition' found on European retailers

A '25th Anniversary Edition' of Metal Gear Solid 4 has appeared on European retailers Zavvi and ShopTo. Both retailers give the re-release a November 30 release date, but they differ wildly on their prices. ShopTo has pre-orders for £15.85, discounted from an apparent MSRP of £19.99, while Zavvi asks £37.45. We didn't even realize it was the 25th anniversary of Metal Gear Solid 4! Oh ... right. It's a re-release honoring the 25th anniversary of Metal Gear. Neither retailer detailed the additions, but MGS4 has since been updated with Trophies and full installation, which would naturally be on the new disc.

  • Marvel vs. Capcom 3 retail listing shows Akuma

The Marvel vs. Capcom 3 listing on British retailer ShopTo's site give the indication that Akuma will be featured among the Capcom roster in the game. As far as early accidental reveals go, this one's pretty clear, with very official character art (and even a helpful "Akuma" label). We know: huge surprise that Akuma would appear in a Capcom fighting game. As we always do when a new MvC3 character is discovered, we checked the rumored "leaked" roster we posted in November. Akuma's not there! Given the authentic look of that character art, consider this a mark against the veracity of that list -- or at least evidence that said list is not final. [Thanks, revengez]

  • Mortal Kombat Arcade Compilation makes brief appearance on UK retail website

A straightforwardly named Mortal Kombat Arcade Compilation has appeared (and since disappeared) from UK online retailer ShopTo. According to Eurogamer, the original listing promised an HD collection of the original Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat (an updated version of Mortal Kombat 3). The original listing included a November 12th release date. The listing raises some questions. For example, considering the franchise's history, shouldn't this be called the Mortal Kombat ... Kompilation? Additionally, the product was listed only for PS3 -- could it be exclusive to that platform? (Considering the perpetual success of Mortal Kombat on PlayStation Network, that would be somewhat unsurprising.) A WB representative decided not to confirm nor deny the validity of the leak, simply stating "there has been nothing officially announced at this point." However, the rep did note that she will let us (and you!) know "if and when there is anything to announce."
