    We don't really know what to tell you about today's One Shot, save that we've never actually seen this occur in EVE Online to date (although we'd bet some of our columnists have) but the idea of deploying a bunch of cans in such an order as to create "can art" is a pretty cool one to us. Today's screenshot comes from Knt who says "This picture is quite a bit old [but is] a prime example of EVE's "can art." We can only imagine the time involved!Do you have some other examples of EVE "can art"? Perhaps you know someone who did something similar using dropped items, or corpses?   • Chronicles of Spellborn + Within Temptation = music video

    Continuing the Chronicles of Spellborn love, reader Garold (who sent us the last CoS video) finds a new video for us to enjoy. Currently being seen on TenTonHammer, this is a music video of Holland-based group Within Temptation (who provided in-game music), featuring scenery, gameplay, and ... spaceships? Apparently there's more to Spellborn than previously revealed.This video makes us think of I'm So Sick, though nothing can touch that video's quality. Still, it's definitely worth watching for a continued look at what we can expect when this MMO makes it to market.[Thanks, Garold!]

    One thing I've taken to recently is lurking over at the Nerfbat forums, where many great minds discuss a lot of different things concerning massively games. One idea in particular has given me a spark of -- probable -- insanity in regards to something I've been giving plenty of thought to lately. The insane idea is this: What would a massively game be like if character avatars had no stats?After reading though several different concepts presented in the thread responsible for this lunacy of mine, I started to wonder why every one of them focused on keeping with the fantasy motif. To me, it seemed obvious that if you're going to delve into a massively game where the characters have no numerical (or numerical-like) levels, stats or personal equipment it, was going to have to happen in something other than your standard fantasy adventure. That's when two unexpected things came together for me and I realized something. A game where characters don't have any stats attached to them could exist with a difficult-to-design IP that's quite near and dear to me. What's the property, you ask?

  • Blizzard devs are able to go outside again, give interviews

    I guess since the expansion is finally done, all the Blizzard devs have time to talk. While reviews on the Burning Crusade are still forthcoming for the most part, there's been a couple dev interviews pop up post-launch.There's not much you won't hear on the Collector's Edition DVD, but over on Firing Squad they have a short one-on-one with Jeff "Tigole" Kaplan. Most interesting is probably how the dev team is justifying adding the sci-fi stuff to Warcraft, via the Draenei and their spaceships-- Tigole suggests there's been an "otherworldly leaning" from the beginning, with the Titans and their worldmaking, and the alien origins of the Orcs. Also, he talks about his favorite creatures in Outland, and while I've only seen Fel Reavers so far, I was definitely impressed.And at Gamespot UK's site, they catch Blizzard's Jon LeCraft. He says that the expansion's delay turned out to be time well spent and that the devs had a lot of fun making starter areas again (since their philosophies have changed so much-- that means we need more midgame content now, guys!). Finally, he acknowledges that the new 25-man cap on instances will mean breakups for some guilds, but that making everyone in the raid necessary was more important to Blizzard than simply allowing 15 people to stand around waiting for loot while the other 25 actually did the work.Nothing super new, and unfortunately, no news about what's next, either in terms of an expansion or a patch direction. But we're definitely glad the devs are getting a chance to catch their breath, and learn some lessons from this week's release.[ via Curse ]
