  • Stand out with Evesham's speakerful TV stand

Why settle for the measly two speakers built into that LED 120hz LCD when you can grab the new Evesham TV stand with nine? The Sound Stage X1 jump starts your surround sound with a subwoofer, two center-channel speakers, four front speakers, and finishes off with two more for the rear surrounds. The speaker orientation uses the acoustic properties of the room to bounce sound off of the rear and side walls, so it works best in a square-shaped room, but it should be a good alternative to stringing wires under the carpet or through the attic. The stand will match many of the new piano-black reflective finishes in today's flat-panel screens, and retails for £300. Now if we could just get them to do something about the TV stand with built-in drink holders...

  • Today's most held in place video: Hori Play Stand DS Lite video review

CheapyD over at CheapAssGamer.com has put together a really nice little video review about the Play Stand DS Lite from Hori. We were dubious at first, but after watching this review, we've ordered one ourselves from Play-Asia, to the tune of fifteen bucks. This little sucker will make playing games with one hand a snap, and it also looks swanky as well. Cradle your DS Lite in some goodness, and wait patiently for the SimCity DS game to come out. It has the ability to hold the DS Lite horizontally and vertically, so basically any of your games will look sweet in its plastic and foam goodness.Nice work, CheapyD. Now we'll wait patiently for this to arrive so we can pimp out Animal Crossing: Wide World as it was meant to be seen.

Turns out, the magnetic stand we covered wasn't the only hands-free option to the Japanese consumer as CAG's CheapyD chronicles in his video review of the stand offered up by Hori. CheapyD does his duty, and does it well, as he goes over every inch of the thing and finds it to be useful in his gaming. Coming in at around $15 USD, would you pick this up?[Via CAG]

  • Game stand provides a Wii bit of harmony

Tired of dark, dour DVD/game shelves looming over the sparkling purity of your Wii? This Wii-themed stand may be the answer you've been looking for. The white mini-tower holds twelve game, but is stackable, so that as you acquire more Wii games, you can just add another shelf. Genius! Now we just need to find someone in Japan who will ship a few over ... or we could just start painting shelves around the house. Hmm ....

  • Belkin intros USB-powered laptop Cooling Stand

While it's easy to assume that most laptop stands will inevitably increase the airflow surrounding the case, therefore cooling your machine off somewhat, that's apparently just not enough for some of the lap burners on the market today. For those who just can't part with their searing machines, Belkin has unveiled a new Cooling Stand that purportedly prevents your laptop from overheating. Of course, if it literally takes a fan to curb an overheating problem, you might have something a bit more serious on your hands, but alas, this trendy white / silver riser sports a modern, slightly curved design with a fan located in the center of the unit. Its self-proclaimed "high-capacity blower" moves air out from under your lappie and is powered entirely by your USB port (the one not powering that USB seat cooler), so you can drain your already weak battery even more when trying to keep cool on the go. You can snag one of these wind machines late next month for $29.99.[Via TechDigest]

Seeing this post over at Joystiq got us thinking. We wanted to know how most people played Wii. Would they choose to get up and be active in the game, or do they instead play more traditionally in a sitting position. We then thought we'd ask you all to vote in a poll so we, and you, could see what the majority of Wii Fanboy readers think. How do you get your Wii on? I prefer to keep it OG and sit I stand tall when I get my game on I play riding on the back of the family horse Pepe I don't have a Wii and am contemplating jumping off a bridge Free polls from Pollhost.com

We don't know how we missed this one, folks. After we presented the original trilogy of Phoenix Wrong flash skits back in September, we promised ourselves we'd check every nineteen minutes for the impending fourth installment. Well, despite our best intentions, PW4 simply slipped by our drooping eyelids on November 22nd. Damn! We'll make it up to you. Here's the link! Watch and be merry, o' future lawyers of America!

  • DIY iPod mini/nano dock with K'Nex

A few days back, TUAW brought you the lego laptop stand. Today, we bring you the K'Nex iPod dock. The always fascinating and wacky Instructables website has posted a tutorial for building your own mini- and nano-compatible dock. The steps are a bit "here's the picture, go build it yourself" rather than providing a part list and actual instructions, but it doesn't look all that hard to duplicate. When built, the iPod rests at a comfortable 45-degree angle in the dock which uses the standard included-in-the-iPod-box sync cable. The author also posted a picture of a 90-degree upright version of the dock.

  • Logitech's Alto stand elevates your notebook

Looking to take your notebook to new heights? Aside from the overtly deliberate PUN that Logitech is forcing down our throats here, the Alto notebook stand ups the ante of prior renditions by including a full-sized keyboard, sleek(er) design, and an ability to hold notebooks "up to nine pounds." The collapsible device can reportedly be setup in "less than 30 seconds," and measures just 9.33- x 16.84- x 1.41-inches when folded over and not in use. The integrated keyboard touts a variety of "media controls" to handle volume, track, and macro functions, and it also offers a trio of non-powered USB ports for connecting low-power peripherals. Logitech expects to roll these $99 risers out in December for those residing in the UK, while Americans will have to wait until January. [Via Laptoping]

  • Griffin iCurve 2 on its way?

I know the iCurve isn't exactly at the top of the rumor mongering lists, but reader GillyGill noticed that Amazon has - again - leaked details on yet another unreleased product: Griffin Technology's iCurve 2 (either someone is really screwing up over there, or Amazon has launched a new We Leak™ marketing service). Since customer affinity for these stands can sometimes match (at least by ratio) Mac users' love for their machines, I figured this slip was worth a post, especially since Griffin's site mentions nothing other than the original version is out of stock.Amazon says the iCurve 2 should be available October 1st, but *something* is telling me that didn't quite happen; maybe it's just the lack of any kind of 'buy now' button and that it's already the 6th. I guess iCurve lovers will have to wait for everyone to get on the same page.

  • Pier 1 Imports recalls TV stand after child dies

We all have different priorities thanks to the many walks of life we all lead but a child's life tops 'em all. Pier 1 Imports, a popular trendy home outfitter, has issued a recall on the Ming TV stand after a Canadian child died. The warning indicates that if a person leans on the drawer while it is open, the TV might have the tendency to slide forward and off the stand. You can only image what a 80lb 27-inch TV could do to a person, let alone a small child. We can only advise owners of said stand to heed the advice of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and return the stand to Pier 1 for merchandise credit.

  • BDI @ CEDIA - modern TV stands

Here at CEDIA we have press rights where we can take pictures normal attendants usually cannot and so far we have only had one issue with this on the EXPO floor. (The HD DVD thing doesn't count) Furniture manufacture BDI is very concerned about pictures being taken of their 'latest and greatest' plasma TV stand. So much so that when our camera was snapping pics, one of the BDI guardians jumped in-front to shield this precious product from our apparently damaging lens. Confused and surprised we inquired why and apparently some of the rival manufactures have been trying cloak and dagger-ish tactics to get pics of that very stand. Was it anything special? No, not really, but we are going to respect their wishes and even though we managed to get a few shots of the stand for the heck of it, we are not going to publish 'em. Follow the link for some pics of their other products that range in price from $600 to $4,000.

Not much to say here but most people need stand for their displays. TV stands. Bell'O has some nice looking TV stands that start out at $300 and continues up to more then your HDTV. The TV stand maker seems to be stepping out of the modern-looking scene that was all the rage a few years ago and into more contemporary styling. Look at the TV stands here not the displays...

  • Mobelform's 'Ultimate' flat-panel TV stand

    by

    08.21.2006

We see a lot of "ultimate" items around these parts and so the word has became rather desensitized in our vocabulary. i.e. ultimate HD DVD Star Trek collection, ultimate HTPC, ultimate hook-up guide. So when someone claims they have found the ultimate flat-panel stand visions of motorized lifts and room for every set-top box dance in our heads, but while we like this stand by Mobelform, we have to disagree with bornrich.org. This is a cool stand and is partly motorized with a remote-controlled hight adjustment that allows the TV to periscope up and down, it just doesn't fit the title of ultimate. We do find the swiveling base and cable management a great, and necessary, addition but for $5,800 a person could hire one of the best installers and have a great custom installation anywhere they want.[Via Bornrich]

  • iSkin releases Claro case for 5G iPods with belt clip/kick stand

Now here is one of the more interesting and functional 5G iPod cases I've seen in a while: a clear plastic case with a belt clip that doubles as a kick stand. This iSkin Claro easily shows up my clear agent18 case, but the $39 sticker price is a tad steep. If a plain clear case doesn't get your credit card numbers flowing, iSkin also provides Claro slims, 3-packs of colored skins for $20 USD that can spice up any oh-so-yesterday black or white 5G iPod. Oh, and don't forget to spend an extra $20 to succumb to your accessorizing obsession with iSkin CERULEAN XLR Bass Enhancing Stereo Earphones, with eight color choices to make sure you get as far away from Apple's trademark white as possible. The iSkin Claro is available at present only for 30 GB 5G iPods and can be had at iSkin's site.[via Playlist]
