Image & Form's turn-based strategy game SteamWorld Heist is coming to "all current platforms," studio CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson revealed this week. SteamWorld: Heist is now scheduled for release on the Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and Xbox One, along with Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms. Heist follows up on the studio's mining-themed action game SteamWorld: Dig, which was featured as one of last month's free PlayStation Plus releases. Image & Form is also considering a mobile release, though plans have not yet solidified. Some things are just meant to be together. Image and Form, the developer of steampunk platformer SteamWorld Heist, has partnered with the band Steam Powered Giraffe for the game's original soundtrack. Steam Powered Giraffe is a San Diego band, and its three members perform as steampunky, singing automatons, robotic motions and all. The SteamWorld Heist trailer featuring Steam Powered Giraffe's music is a testament to just how beautiful this union could be. At first, the deal was for Steam Powered Giraffe to compose a bonus song for the SteamWorld Dig soundtrack included in that game's Collector's Edition, Image and Form CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson says in a blog post: "Being [Steamworld] Dig fans, they promptly agreed. When James told me I nearly exploded with excitement, and in June we met at E3 and sealed the deal on the entire SteamWorld Heist soundtrack." SteamWorld Heist is due out in spring 2015 for 3DS and other unannounced platforms. [Image: Image and Form]

Image and Form Games announced its next project today, turn-based strategy game SteamWorld Heist. The next entry in the SteamWorld series is all about "space adventures and survival," according to the developer's announcement blog. In it, players captain "a team of ragtag robots" that loot the ruins of a destroyed world, boarding the ships of enemies and partaking in turn-based battles. The game follows the events in last year's SteamWorld Dig after a "cataclysmic event" crushed the planet and forced its citizens to spaceships. Still, Image and Form Games carefully noted that it's not a direct sequel to the game, just that it takes place in the same universe. The developer is aiming to launch SteamWorld Heist in spring 2015, and has not yet listed its targeted platforms. Update: According to a Nintendo of Europe interview with Image and Form, the game has been confirmed for 3DS. [Image: Image and Form Games]
