It's just simply not enough to listen to the Street Fighter IV soundtrack while owning fools online -- you've also got it take it with you everywhere you go. To do that, you'll want to check out the 2-disc soundtrack that's available now over at Sumthing Digital. The set contains over 50 tracks from the game and it'll only set you back $10. Individual songs are also available for download for about $1 each; however, getting the entire collection sounds like a much better deal. That, and El Fuerte will sit on your face if you don't. Also, there's more Capcom stuff over at Sumthing Digital -- check out that 3-Disc Resident Evil 5 OST for starters. [Via Capcom-Unity]

NECA has a long history of crowding our shelves with action figures, and while we're accustomed to emptying our wallets for these plastic diversions without question there's just something about this latest Chun Li figure that looks a little ... off. Set for release in August, she's one of a three new NECA toys based on Street Fighter IV, including figures modeled after Akuma and Guile as well. And while each of the figs has their own unique quirks, maybe it's Chun Li's oddly-defined muscles or creepy blank stare that's weirding us right out. On second thought, it's gotta be the hands. They're just way too small.

For the few of you out there waiting for a PC version of Street Fighter IV and who, simultaneously, had not prepared for playing the game with a keyboard and mouse, Capcom has luckily thought ahead. It's including a MadCatz Fight Pad in the $60 Games for Windows version of SFIV that'll be sold at your local brick and mortar. We're wondering how many folks are willing to snag one of these for the controller alone!Problematically, the company has at once solved your problem and caused another -- how are you going to play against friends in your house with only one controller? Knowing that the arcade controllers released have come in fairly short supply, here's hoping the introduction of PC Street Fighter IV brings with it a bevy of the unfortunately necessary controllers to the market.

Capcom's financial report for fiscal year 2008 reveals that the company seems to have found a way to protect itself against the recession: sequels. Net sales for FY 2008 came to 91.8 million yen, up 10.6% from 2007, an increase that Capcom attributes to its massive franchise releases.Following the sales numbers, Capcom names the games that drove the growth. It refers to Resident Evil 5 as a "mega hit with the first shipment of over four million copies worldwide." According to the report, this game and Street Fighter IV "served as the sales growth engine overseas."In Japan, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite continued to sell throughout FY 2008, in high enough numbers that both MHFU and its lower-price re-release get separate mentions in the document. If it does well in North America, it could appear on a third year's financial report!

Capcom just sent a press release our way confirming that the GFW Live-compatible Street Fighter IV will be accompanied by two other big Capcom games on PC: Resident Evil 5 and Bionic Commando. July will see the release of Street Fighter IV and Bionic Commando, with Resident Evil 5 arriving sometime later this year, featuring support for NVIDIA's new GeForce 3D Vision technology. Considering that Street Fighter IV supports GWF Live, we're assuming the other titles will, but the press release makes no mention of it. It only cites the games are "optimized for the PC platform and will have new PC-specific features added." We've put in word to Capcom and will update you all as soon as we hear back.

When we previously reported on the Street Fighter IV tournament in Europe, there were only 5 participating countries -- UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Now, the tournament has been expanded to include more countries, namely the rest of Europe. Capcom's Unity blog reports that players in Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Ireland, and Portugal are now eligible to participate, as well. So may your Hadoukens be righteous, and may your Spinning Bird Kicks land true. For full details on the competition, click here.

Poor Games For Windows Live. The branding and service have been so neglected that it actually gives us a little spring in our step to see someone embracing it, like the way we like to hear about Brad Pitt buying mosquito nets for poor countries. Its latest benefactor is Street Fighter IV on the PC, which will use the service to provide multiplayer and Achievements when it arrives on home computers this summer. Out of curiosity, have any of you been waiting for a PC release to polish up your Tiger Uppercut?[Thanks, The Weaponeer!]

Just a quick reminder that free Street Fighter IV DLC, called the Power Up Pack, is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. The pack comes with the new Championship Mode, which adds new tournament features and double-blind character selection. The pack also includes a new Replay Mode, which allows players on Xbox Live to download replays of matches, which even include the controller inputs used by each character. The download clocks in at 16MB and, once again, it's free. Strangely, it appears the DLC is not available on PSN just yet. We'll be sure to let you know when it shows up.Update: We apologize for the error, as the DLC has been available for the PlayStation 3 version as an update for a few days now.

Capcom has been combing the desert Europe looking for the best Street Fighter IV players around, Eurogamer reports. Utilizing the new Championship mode to track your Grade Points (which determines your overall rank in the standings, naturally), the contest is open starting today and ends on May 17. Then, on the week of May 30, the best 30 fighters from each of the participating countries -- UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain -- will be matched up to decide the champion of each nation. After that, the five winners will then be flown to a secret location (we're crossing our fingers for inside of a volcano) on the weekend of June 13 to compete for the grand prize: an Aerox R Yamaha scooter and matching SFIV jackets. If you're a Joystiq reader, and you make it to the finals and win this scooter, we suggest you name it Sasha.

  • Justin Wong wins national SFIV tourney, Daigo remains world champ

We have to hand it to Justin Wong -- he put up a good fight. Defeating all American contestants in a three-round, GameStop-sponsored Street Fighter IV tournament over the course of the past two months, the NY-based Street Fighter enthusiast can walk tall knowing he took down the best of what America had to offer. What we didn't know when this tournament was announced, however, was that a brief "international title championship" would take place immediately following the battle's end. After toppling Korea's Poongko, as well as Japan's Iyo, Wong (playing as Rufus) was left to compete with Japan's other entry, Daigo. Daigo apparently swept Wong using Ryu four to zero. Though Wong may not have walked away with the title of "international champion," he did likely need a truck for the Street Fighter IV arcade machine he won and, ya know, that enormous trophy he's holding.[Image Credit: kineda]

If the prospect of not having to fork over extra Zenny for Street Fighter IV's upcoming Championship mode isn't enough to put the sonic in your boom, Capcom has released additional details behind the impending DLC's April 24 release. In addition to previously revealed features, Capcom notes that tournaments will be seeded randomly, based on player skill, with single elimination bouts and double-blind character selection helping to keep fights as fair as possible. In addition, Capcom promises that players who disconnect at the first sign of trouble will be knocked down in their tournament rank. Even better, quitters will have their disconnect percentage put on display for all to mock when the free download hyper uppercuts the PS3 and Xbox 360 later this month.

It appears Capcom is getting used to tapping the veins of semi-altruistic gamers. Its latest idea: "Street Fighter Fights Hunger." In conjunction with GameStop, the publisher will hold a food drive at the EVO Street Fighter IV US National Championship Finals, to be held at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco on April 18 at 7 pm PT.Food items will be given to the Second Harvest Food Bank and donations should be made in the form of canned goods or "nominal donations." Oh, you want to know what'll actually go down at this public event beyond the charitable stuff? Check out the details after the break.

The rough-and-tumble Street Fighters enjoying their youth is likely the most adorable thing we'll see all week. Kei Acedera, an illustrator and art director at Imaginism, has just such a drawing in her portfolio on the company's website. If you click the image above, you'll be treated to the full work, which also includes the rest of the Super Street Fighter II Turbo cast cheering in the background (Dhalsim's long arms were a nice touch).Acedera's work includes illustrating books for Harper Collins and design work for Disney and Sony. Her bio also states she makes t-shirts for her guinea pig, Tobi. We wonder if she puts little pants on Tobi and dyes him so he looks like the little Blanka in the picture ...[Via ThreeSpeech]

  • Street Fighter IV rankings separate Hadouken from Gadouken

There are those who like fighting games. Then there are others whose passion for the genre surpasses mainstream zeal to set up shack somewhere in the middle of crazy town. From the latter comes a chart sizing up the fighters in the console flavor of Street Fighter IV, highlighting the probable outcome when any two brawlers go toe-to-toe.Compiled by Japanese enthusiasts, the chart breaks down out of ten bouts how many times on average a fighter will come out on top against a given opponent. For example, when Blanka enters the ring and sinks his teeth into Zangief, the burly wrestler only wins 3 out of 10 matches. However, according to the chart it's Sagat that trumps all others, with Rose at the bottom likely wondering if she should look into a different line of work.

  • February NPD: Street Fighter IV, Wii Fit battle as Nintendo dominates hardware sales

Zangief's always struck us as a perpetual sourpuss, but he -- and the rest of the Street Fighter IV crew -- must be cracking polygonal smiles right about now. So are Capcom's accountants, sans the polygons (we think). While Wii Fit was once again at the top of software sales for February, the combined total of SFIV copies moved for PS3 and 360 has the fighter closing in on 1 million units sold in its first two weeks (actually outselling Wii Fit by 205K copies). Reported sales of the PS3-exclusive Killzone 2 are at 323K after a mere 48 hours on shelves, landing it in 5th place. Finally, Wii Play has officially broken the 10 million sold mark in the US.On the hardware front, Nintendo seems to be doing pretty well with this "Wii" thing, selling almost 3/4 million of whatever they are. DS maintained its second-in-command spot for the month, followed by Xbox 360 and PS3 -- the latter of which only outsold its previous iteration by 79K consoles. Overall hardware sales were up considerably over January.Fun Fact: The analysts of EEDAR were a little off with their February software revenue and top 10 titles predictions, to the tune of $75 million in sales (NPD's final accounting was $733.5M, EEDAR had expected $659M).-Wii: 753K74K (+11%)-DS: 588K77K (+15%)-Xbox 360: 391K82K (+27%)-PS3: 276K73K (+36%)-PSP: 199K 27K (+16%)-PS2: 131K30K (+30%)Check out the software sales chart after the break.

This is Home, not Resident Evil 5. Ready for more Capcom goodness in Home? The Resident Evil 5 game space gets some dramatic new content next week. On March 26th, the space will be updated with a Photo Studio, which allows multiple players to join a mini-game and compete for various rewards. Inside the Photo Studio will be "Adam's Shop," a brand new store that allows players to purchase RE-themed items for Home, including Chris and Sheva's costumes from the game. For those that are less into zombies, and more into shoryukens, Home will also receive Street Fighter IV content on the same day. Items themed around E. Honda, Zangeif, Dhalsim, and Blanka will be available to purchase in the virtual Home Mall.

Good news for fighting game aficionados out of Capcom and MadCatz HQ today. A new shipment of the specialty controllers and arcade sticks for (and that should have come bundled with) Street Fighter IV will be available soon. Darin from the Capcom Unity Blog sends word that MadCatz will have a few units of the popular -- but somewhat problematic -- controllers by the end of this month and the end of April. While the number of units isn't being thrown around, Capcom says there should be enough stock to take care of most, if not all, existing orders. As for the ability to one day walk into a store and freely purchase a unit off the shelf ... let's not talk crazy, folks.
