Last week's TUAW Talkcast, recorded live, featured the debut of TUAW's new team members Jason Clarke, Lisa Hoover and Nik Fletcher, and the swan song of our departing colleague David Chartier. It clocks in at 40 minutes and 28 MB. You can pick it up from our RSS & iTunes feeds, via direct download here, or via download and streaming over at Talkshoe.Since we've got a little Apple event tomorrow, we're going to be doing another Wednesday night talkcast on 9/5; since we want extra time to discuss the new goodies, we're moving it up one half-hour to 9 pm ET. Follow the link to Talkshoe for the schedule. For the weeks to come, we are thinking about alternate times and dates for the talkcast, either to allow participants from far-flung timezones or to permit everyone to use free nights and weekends on their cellphones when they call in. Don't forget, our weekly talkcast will be kicking it Wednesday style tonight at 9:30 pm ET. We'll be introducing TUAW's newest bloggers (ooo!), welcoming special guests (aah!) and giving away a couple of delightful prizes (wow!). You need to register for a Talkshoe PIN prior to the show, so go ahead and do that now. We'll wait. Might as well download the Gizmo Project SIP client too; that way you can dial in to the show without paying SkypeOut or toll charges, or burning your cellphone minutes (you can always listen for free via the Talkshoe client, and if the stars align you can chat back with the embedded Shoephone VoIP tool). Thanks to the fine folk at Embraceware, our two trivia contest winners tonight will receive licenses for Awaken, the iTunes alarm clock tool, at the end of the show. Awaken is also up on MacZot today at a $5 discount, if you don't trust your Mac trivia mojo. Besides, if you buy a license now, you can set your alarm so you remember to join the talkcast! See how it all fits together? Thanks Jerry & Hakim for tonight's giveaway!

We're shifting a day to the left for this week's talkcast, so please join us online and live at 8:30 pm update -- pushed back to 9:30 pm ET Wednesday with your Mac, iPhone and iPod questions. We're also hoping to have our newest TUAW bloggers on the call for introductions and a hearty welcome. Don't forget to hang around after the recorded half-hour show for open phones and the dark secrets of TUAW: who secretly plays PC games? Who hacks loaner iPhones? Who still uses AppleWorks? Tune in to find out.To participate in the talkcast, you need to register for a PIN at Talkshoe; that gets you access to the live call and to the simultaneous text chat via the Talkshoe Java client. In the next few weeks, we should be able to open up the call to anonymous participants -- we'll let you know.

  • TUAW Talkcast #4: Best of the week, more reader questions - available for download

The 4th edition of our new TUAW Talkcast went pretty well last night. We had a good turnout of readers joining in on the fun, and we all had a good time discussing things like imaginary iPhone feature updates, that quirky new Apple Keyboard and how well one can type on a glass display without buttons. We also fielded more questions from show participants such as Windows gaming on a Mac mini and how to truly delete images from iPhoto, and I must say: that question & answer segment is becoming one of my favorite parts of the show.We did have a few issues with audio quality, as I think Gizmo was misbehaving a little, but I tried cleaning up as best I could. There's only so much magic software can work on quirky audio, even in Mac OS X. Since we are still navigating the TalkShoe waters however, we appreciate your patience while trying to iron out the kinks, and we'll gladly accept any advice on how to improve audio quality (though we're aware of the basics, such as using a headset instead of built-in MacBook mics, etc.). We're also kicking around some ideas for a different day and time for the show in an effort to make it easier for more of you to join us. If you would prefer something other than 9:30 pm ET on Thursday nights, be sure to sound off in the comments. For now though, TUAW Talkcast #4 is available for download. It clocks in at just under 37 minutes and 33.7 MB. You can pick up the 'cast from our RSS & iTunes feeds, via direct download here, or via download and streaming over at Talkshoe.

It's that time of the week again folks - the TUAW Talkcast is once again upon us! Our regular host Michael Rose is taking the week off, so I'll be taking the hosting reigns for the night. Join TUAW bloggers Dave Caolo, Erica "iPhone Pwner" Sadun, Mike Schramm and myself for a discussion on the week's big news, hopefully some live Ask TUAW where we field your questions and yet another trivia contest for a TUAW shirt! After the show is done, we'll open up the lines so everyone can chat before calling it a night. To participate or listen in on our TalkShoe-powered Talkcasts, register (free) at TalkShoe.com. This will give you a pin you can use to call in with a regular or VoIP phone. If you want to text chat with us and other participants, you'll need to download and sign in with their java client as well. If you can't be with us tonight though, don't worry - as usual, we'll provide the recording for download and via our TUAW Podcast feed (RSS and iTunes) within a day or so.It should be another good show tonight, so we hope to see you all there!

A rollicking half-hour review of the week's top stories and some reader questions answered with your hosts David Chartier, Mike Schramm and Michael Rose, now in convenient audio form. We got rolling a bit late due to call-in problems (maybe you heard about a wee outage over at Skype, which apparently gave all the other VoIP services some sympathy pains) but we had a great time and we hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed talking. You can pick up the 'cast from our RSS & iTunes feeds, via direct download here, or over at Talkshoe. C'mon back next Thursday night for the live show when David picks up the hosting reins.

We had so much fun, we're doing it again this week.
