  • TellTale Games wants Sam and Max on your PS3

In a recent interview with THEBBPS, TellTale Games' Emily Morganti made it very clear that there are no limits to the company's imagination when it comes to distribution methods for TellTale's games. Currently Sam and Max is only available on the PC via the TellTale website or Valve's PC gaming platform, Steam. This will soon change as the anthropomorphised crime fighting duo are making an appearance on the Wii this Fall. Then where? Morganti reiterated their desire to release content on the XBL Marketplace, adding that they're "not ruling out other platforms in the future. We're interested in PlayStation, also... we want our games to be everywhere!" Everywhere eh? How about looking into making some of your titles Mac compatible? With Sony's increased interest in episodic entertainment, TellTale's current software library would be a perfect fit for the PSN -- not to mention upcoming titles like Strong Bad's Awesome Game For Attractive People. We can't stress enough how much we would love to see this happen. [Via our pals at X3F]

Holy sandpaper grinding against the rough side of cactus on the fourth Friday of the month! In an interview with The BBPS, Telltale's Emily Morganti confirms that Season 3 of Sam & Max isn't due out until 2009. The previous two seasons were released 387 days apart, so it comes as a bummer to all of us who had already marked our calendars (with a permanent marker, no less!) for Sunday, November 31, 2008.Morganti also said that the company is interested in bringing Sam & Max to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 in addition to the already-announced Wii-lease. "Our tools currently allow us to develop for PC, Xbox 360, and Wii," she said, later adding, "We're interested in PlayStation, also... we want our games to be everywhere!" Morganti also answered a question about Sam & Max's chances of coming to the Mac ... but the answer is just too painful for us to write about.[Via X3F]

If the world was ruled by Telltale Games everyone would respect talking animals and Sam & Max would be on the Xbox Live Arcade, the second part at least is the word from Telltale's Emily Morganti. In an interview with Jim Squires from THEBBPS, Morganti confirmed the developer still wants Sam & Max to visit the Arcade."We'd still like to do it. Our tools currently allow us to develop for PC, Xbox 360, and Wii," Morganti said. "We're not ruling out other platforms in the future. We're interested in PlayStation, also... we want our games to be everywhere!"Sam & Max has been a popular series for Telltale as the episodic adventure series has found success releasing exclusively with GameTap's online service-- a PC version of Sam & Max: Season One was recently released to retail. With the recent release of Penny Arcade Adventures' first episode on Xbox Live Arcade and the recent increase of file size for downloadable games, we're hoping Sam & Max can find a home on the Xbox 360 in the very near future.

Hey there, pretty people -- you might be interested in hearing the latest news about Telltale's upcoming WiiWare series, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. As for the rest of you uglies, just movie on -- there's nothing to see here. (If you're perusing Wii Fanboy, you're clearly hot stuff, so don't worry and read on.)Telltale reports that the first episode of the game, titled "Homestar Ruiner," centers around Strong Bad's desire to pummel Homestar Runner. He then decides that the best way to beat his rival would be to defeat him in the tri-annual Race to the End of the Race. You can check out the video of "Homestar Ruiner" above, although it doesn't show too much gameplay. Occasionally, it looks like you have to choose something from a thought bubble in order to progress the story, but often there's only one item to choose from. Joystiq did report that the demo for SBCG4AP was pretty linear, but hopefully the episode in its entirety will have more to offer. We've also added some new game screens to our gallery, which feature some beloved characters from the Homestar Runner-verse, so be sure to check them out.%Gallery-20307%[Via press release; also, thanks fco!]

Our overlords at Joystiq managed to snag an interview with Telltale Games, the developers behind Sam & Max and the upcoming Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. They manage to get the lowdown on how long this project was in the works, as well as what to look forward to in each episode. It's an interesting read, so be sure to head on over there and check the interview out.%Gallery-20307%

It won't be long before our wallets are drained of life thanks to Nintendo's freshly delivered digital download service, WiiWare. However, we're saving a few Wii Points under the mattress for Telltale's upcoming episodic take on iconic internet flash cartoon, Homestar Runner, in Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. It's dot com. With the series announced to launch in June and new first episode details expected to drop later this week, we headed over to Bubs' Concession Stand for more information on the upcoming game. Of course, he wasn't much help, though he did point us over to Telltale, where we spoke with marketer extraordinaire Emily Morganti about all things Strong Bad. For the complete breakdown of what went down, hit up the interview below and pop open a one -- just make sure it's cold. A one which is not cold is scarcely a cold one at all. We don't have to tell you longtime readers of the site how excited we are for Sam & Max on the Wii. No longer will those of us who don't have the desire or hardware specs to download the game on our PC be left without an option to play these undoubtedly great episodes (not to mention Strong Bad, which we have high hopes for). Sad to say, though, that this doesn't mean the episodes from Season Two will see a simultaneous release on the Wii.This, and more, were said in an interview with CVG. Telltale's Emily Morganti and Dave Grossman took time out of their day to explain a bit about the Wii version of Sam & Max, as well as comment on what they think it takes to make a successful adventure game. Their secret? Mountain lions.

Although it appears the music licensing isn't complete yet for Lego Batman, TT Games has released some gameplay footage featuring Catwoman and The Riddler. Gotham City's notorious crime-causing couple ... wait, wait one second. Did Riddler and Catwoman ever even work together? That's an open invitation for comic book geeks to show off.Expect a lot more videos (like the one above) leading up to the game's release later this year featuring Batman's gallery of villains. We're definitely looking forward to seeing Mr. J and Harley Quinn in all their blocky glory. Too bad we won't hear Harley's nails-on-a-chalkboard voice though.

Days before the Nintendo Media Summit, Telltale Games revealed Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. I tried the adventure game at the event and spoke with Telltale's marketing coordinator, Emily Morganti.Strong Bad follows in the game style of Sam & Max and other adventures, but it trades some of the linear, story elements for more random activities. For example, Strong Bad can make prank phone calls; play mini-games, including fake-retro throwbacks from the online cartoon; check in-game email, and otherwise explore his world.Players drive most of the game interaction by pointing and clicking with the Wii Remote, although some mini-games use an NES-style approach. Morganti stressed that for this game and the upcoming Sam & Max conversion, Telltale won't add motion controls for their own sake. Telltale's own team of writers and producers, including many who have been part of Sam & Max, are collaborating the Chapmans, Homestar Runner's creators. But unlike Sam & Max, Telltale plans to have different people lead the production on each of the five, roughly monthly episodes.Morganti explained, "Each episode, a different designer [is in charge], which is more like they do on TV. ... It's still the same team. [But] it'll be interesting to see how the episodes feel as a result. With Sam & Max, we've had complaints that they feel too similar. We might find with Strong Bad, that each one feels very different."%Gallery-20305%

Hot on the heels of news yesterday regarding a certain answerer-of-emails and WiiWare, Nintendo's distribution service for downloadable games, comes our first peek at Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, along with some more details on what to expect per your buck and the bang it will entitle you to. IGN has uploaded a pair of trailers, the first of which you can catch above. It provides a sneak peek at the first episode of the game, which is due out this June.IGN also confirmed that each episode of Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People will include at least one small micro game that the player can enjoy via an in-game computer. Fans of Strong Bad won't have any trouble picturing how this will work. As if that weren't enough, you can also piece together your own Girl Squad comics by collecting cards in-game. Head past the break for the other trailer, which shows off even more gameplay footage. We just hope that come June we'll be attractive enough to be allowed to play this game.%Gallery-20307%

Today, Telltale Games announced its WiiWare episodic series Strong Bad Cool Game for Attractive People, but was there a hint of a Homestar Runner videogame before today? As Joystiq reader Christopher A. points out, an easter egg in the April 1 sbemail "Shapeshifter" contained the code 3uSyK2RdlUY. Plug that into the end of a YouTube URL and you get the above video, a parody on the Wii's safety concerns. We're sorry to have missed this the first time, but it seems all too appropriate now. Strong Bad Cool Game for Attractive People is coming in June to Nintendo's WiiWare service and the PC.

  • Telltale Games joined by adventure veteran Mike Stemmle

Telltale Games has bolstered its collection of adventure veterans with Mike Stemmle, a man you may remember as the co-designer of Sam & Max Hit the Road, Escape from Monkey Island and the lead designer of the thoroughly canned Sam & Max Freelance Police. What you're less likely to remember (by the designer's own admission) is his game Afterlife, a title which has been unable to enjoy the complete resurrection bestowed upon everybody's favorite dodgy doggy detective and hyper-kinetic rabbity thing. "Mere words are proving woefully inadequate to describe my delight at hooking up with this fiendishly dedicated crew," said Stemmle. "The excitement and talent swirling around Telltale remind me of the geysers of iagination that erupted across the gaming industry in the early 90's. Only this time, with rational production schedules." Also joining the Telltale Team is award-winning artist and designer Justin Chin, whose credits include the Dark Forces: Jedi Knight series and more recently, The Simpsons Game. Chin will be serving Telltale as an executive producer, alongside newly acquired hired Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike and Lair veteran, Brett Tosti. Both are expected to contribute to Telltale's output and its "growth in multiplatform development."

Sam & Max: Season One was one of the first real success stories of digital distribution, where folks could download episodes of the game from month to month, and then after everything had been released, pick up a DVD copy of all the episodes with some extra content. Season Two launches on November 8th (tomorrow, kids!), putting Sam & Max right back into the fray.We sat down with Telltale Games founder and CEO Dan Connors during E For All to talk about all things Sam & Max, Bone, and what's coming up for the young studio. We started off by waxing poetic about E for All or E3 possibly moving to Vegas, so we could have done this over drinks and then hit the tables. We'd like to think Sam & Max would have been proud.

    06.15.2007

What did the folks at Telltale Games do today? We'll tell you! They turned a Valve and streamed their sparkling Sam & Max episodic series out of a GameTap and straight into a kettle. Then they, uh, boiled it. Because Sam & Max Season 1 is now available for purchase on Steam, you see. Also, we're terrible at this. Let's try again.Telltale Games and Valve have announced that the first episodic series to become available on Steam (yes, there was a joke there) is Sam & Max Season 1, with single episodes priced at $8.95 each. There's a 10% discount to be had during this first week of release, and those who balk at bit purchases can buy in bulk -- bundles of the first three (or last three) episodes go for $19.95 each. If you manage to miraculously avoid adventure's detective duo on Steam, GameTap and Telltale's website, you'll still have to deal with August's retail release from JoWood and The Adventure Company. You'll have nowhere to run, you lagomorph loather.
