If you're the type to never pay retail on anything, especially video games, the like-minded misers at the Cheap Ass Gamers community have found two worthwhile Wii deals for you: Bully: Scholarship Edition - $26.99 (Amazon) Castle of Shikigami III - $19.99 (GameStop) If you haven't looked into shoot-em-up Castle of Shikigami III before, make sure you check out the videos we posted a couple of months ago -- there's a flying butler! Amazon also has CSI: Hard Evidence on sale for $19.99, but we have a feeling that not many of you will be too excited to pick up this video game adaptation of a poor man's Law & Order.[Via CAG]

IGN had some hands-on time with the Wii version of Telltale's Sam & Max: Season One and found the experience pleasing. This should come as no surprise, since the game has been out and good on the PC for a couple of years now. But at least it doesn't sound like a disastrous port! The report describes the experience of using the Wiimote instead of a mouse -- specifically how Telltale mapped the controls. In addition to basic point-and-click movement, Telltale has implemented a feature from the PC Season Two that causes Sam to walk more quickly to a spot when the A button is tapped twice. The Wiimote can be used in two ways in the game's driving segments: either to steer the car or to shoot at stuff using the pointer. If you're using the Internet Channel, we suggest using its unique point-and-click navigation system to maneuver to IGN's screenshots. Or just the mouse, if you're on a normal old computer.%Gallery-23759%

click to enlarge It won't be long now. Despite a short delay into the far-off month of July (or: "next month"), Telltale's episodic adaptation of Strong Bad – delicately titled Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People – will be opening mail on WiiWare and PC shortly. To get you in the mood, Telltale just dropped a handful of new screens along with a new gameplay video on our doorstep (seriously, just left it there). What we'd really like for you to check out is the "tech demo" showing off the game's incredible engine. Series creators Matt and Mike Chapman write that their "engine is about 98% finished" but they're still having "some trouble with the fence physics or 'phensics' as they say in the gaming industry." It's true, the phensics don't look quite right ... %Gallery-24933%

Hey, olda boys: do you still miss video games? You'll be able to play next month, and as a bonus, you'll have the ability to create custom Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive PeopleTeen Girl Squad cartoons! The latest screens offer us the first look at Strong Bad's amazing, uh, table, where the genius himself (or even you!) comes up with all the deep Teen Girl Squad storylines. While the trailer (after the post break) may be DEVOID'D of Teen Girl Squad content, it totally confirms the appearance in Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner of one of the most lovable characters in all of the Homestar Runner universe: The Stick. Or is The Stick more of a location than a character? If that's not Strong Badical enough, you can play an exclusive tech demo at Strong Bad's dev blog!%Gallery-20307%

  • Strong Bad game gets delayed until July

To us laymen, game design doesn't seem terribly hard. Take, for example, Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People. It's being made by Telltale, which has already made an episodic humor game. Shouldn't it then be a simple matter of hitting Ctrl+F, finding all the "Sam and Max"'s and replacing them with "Strong Bad"s? Apparently, even this rudimentary task has proved too much for Telltale, as it has announced that the game's release has been pushed from its original window (June) into next month. The company said that it needed the extra time to "polish," which we imagine involves removing the various chipsets and memory unit boards the game is running on and buffing them with Endust and an old T-shirt to a brilliant sheen. Why does that take so long? Why is it even necessary? We just don't know.

Kotaku posted the unfortunate news that Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, the WiiWare adventure game based on the bizarre Flash cartoon series (in case you somehow made it onto the Internet without passing through Free Country USA), has been delayed until July. Telltale Games confirmed the delay on their forums, with staffer "Jake" saying "We moved the launch of the season (less than a month) to make the game better."Telltale assured the unreasonably angry posters in the forum that once the game does launch, the company will stick to scheduled releases of new episodes. And we can wait for the first one, as long as it comes out before 20X6.%Gallery-20307%[Thanks, fco!]

While some of you are still enjoying the beauty of those rad Sam and Max screens from yesterday, the more cunning fans have happened upon a new technology, where pictures actually move! Yeah, it's something else! We're thinking of caling it "Non-Stationary Speedy Image Rearrangement."The first trailer for the Wii release of Sam and Max: Season One has just hit the web, and it's looking mighty fine. We look forward to sinking our teeth into another adventure game for the Wii (after a certain, ah, resounding success), and August can't come quickly enough. Adventure game fans, take note: Sam & Max: Season One will be hitting Wii's this August. Those looking forward to solving crimes and revealing conspiracies with a six-foot tall canine and his violence-loving rabbit partner (read: us) are probably champing at the bit right now. Since Telltale was being so coy about Sam & Max coming to the Wii in the first place, we're surprised that the game is hitting retail so soon!Season One and Season Two are already available in full for the PC, but this will be the duo's first console outing. In a recent interview with THEBBPS, TellTale Games' Emily Morganti made it very clear that there are no limits to the company's imagination when it comes to distribution methods for TellTale's games. Currently Sam and Max is only available on the PC via the TellTale website or Valve's PC gaming platform, Steam. This will soon change as the anthropomorphised crime fighting duo are making an appearance on the Wii this Fall. Then where? Morganti reiterated their desire to release content on the XBL Marketplace, adding that they're "not ruling out other platforms in the future. We're interested in PlayStation, also... we want our games to be everywhere!" Everywhere eh? How about looking into making some of your titles Mac compatible? With Sony's increased interest in episodic entertainment, TellTale's current software library would be a perfect fit for the PSN -- not to mention upcoming titles like Strong Bad's Awesome Game For Attractive People. We can't stress enough how much we would love to see this happen. [Via our pals at X3F]

Holy sandpaper grinding against the rough side of cactus on the fourth Friday of the month! In an interview with The BBPS, Telltale's Emily Morganti confirms that Season 3 of Sam & Max isn't due out until 2009. The previous two seasons were released 387 days apart, so it comes as a bummer to all of us who had already marked our calendars (with a permanent marker, no less!) for Sunday, November 31, 2008.Morganti also said that the company is interested in bringing Sam & Max to the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 in addition to the already-announced Wii-lease. "Our tools currently allow us to develop for PC, Xbox 360, and Wii," she said, later adding, "We're interested in PlayStation, also... we want our games to be everywhere!" Morganti also answered a question about Sam & Max's chances of coming to the Mac ... but the answer is just too painful for us to write about.[Via X3F]

If the world was ruled by Telltale Games everyone would respect talking animals and Sam & Max would be on the Xbox Live Arcade, the second part at least is the word from Telltale's Emily Morganti. In an interview with Jim Squires from THEBBPS, Morganti confirmed the developer still wants Sam & Max to visit the Arcade."We'd still like to do it. Our tools currently allow us to develop for PC, Xbox 360, and Wii," Morganti said. "We're not ruling out other platforms in the future. We're interested in PlayStation, also... we want our games to be everywhere!"Sam & Max has been a popular series for Telltale as the episodic adventure series has found success releasing exclusively with GameTap's online service-- a PC version of Sam & Max: Season One was recently released to retail. With the recent release of Penny Arcade Adventures' first episode on Xbox Live Arcade and the recent increase of file size for downloadable games, we're hoping Sam & Max can find a home on the Xbox 360 in the very near future.

If our recent interview and the latest screenshots from Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People weren't enough to a satiate your interest in harassing the residents of Strongbadia, publisher Telltale has released some additional details for the forthcoming adventure game's first episode, titled "Homestar Ruiner," which will be released over WiiWare and the PC in June.According to Telltale, the plot, for people who care about such things, will see the bobble-headed Strong Bad scheming to win the tri-annual 'Race to the End of the Race' while also working to get a disgraced Homestar Runner from loafing around his domicile. As mentioned in the past, the game will include a variety of mini-games and other diversions, two of which Telltale has now revealed to be Snake Boxer 5 from Homestar's fictional game development studio, Videlectrix, as well as the ability for players to create their own Teen Girl Squad comics. Hey there, pretty people -- you might be interested in hearing the latest news about Telltale's upcoming WiiWare series, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. As for the rest of you uglies, just movie on -- there's nothing to see here. (If you're perusing Wii Fanboy, you're clearly hot stuff, so don't worry and read on.)Telltale reports that the first episode of the game, titled "Homestar Ruiner," centers around Strong Bad's desire to pummel Homestar Runner. He then decides that the best way to beat his rival would be to defeat him in the tri-annual Race to the End of the Race. You can check out the video of "Homestar Ruiner" above, although it doesn't show too much gameplay. Occasionally, it looks like you have to choose something from a thought bubble in order to progress the story, but often there's only one item to choose from. Joystiq did report that the demo for SBCG4AP was pretty linear, but hopefully the episode in its entirety will have more to offer. We've also added some new game screens to our gallery, which feature some beloved characters from the Homestar Runner-verse, so be sure to check them out.%Gallery-20307%[Via press release; also, thanks fco!]

It won't be long before our wallets are drained of life thanks to Nintendo's freshly delivered digital download service, WiiWare. However, we're saving a few Wii Points under the mattress for Telltale's upcoming episodic take on iconic internet flash cartoon, Homestar Runner, in Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. It's dot com. With the series announced to launch in June and new first episode details expected to drop later this week, we headed over to Bubs' Concession Stand for more information on the upcoming game. Of course, he wasn't much help, though he did point us over to Telltale, where we spoke with marketer extraordinaire Emily Morganti about all things Strong Bad. For the complete breakdown of what went down, hit up the interview below and pop open a one -- just make sure it's cold. A one which is not cold is scarcely a cold one at all. Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People should come out on PS3, shouldn't it? We're pretty certain that the PS3 audience is both cool and attractive. The episodic adventure based on popular Flash site Homestar Runner, is heading towards WiiWare later next month. However, TellTale's marketing guru, Emily Morganti told Joystiq that Strong Bad could arrive on PSN as well."Maybe down the line," she told Joystiq, "but for now we're focusing on WiiWare and the PC ... we'd like to be on all of these at some point. They're all great platforms for episodic content. WiiWare just happens to be the one we're venturing onto first."We're pretty certain a PSN/XBLA version of Cool Game for Attractive People would be rather lucrative for the publisher. With a larger audience hungry for HD Strong Bad, we're hoping the PSN port comes sooner, rather than later.

Today's launch of WiiWare reminds us that next month we'll be pointing, clicking, and harassing the residents of Strongbadia in Telltale's Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, an upcoming episodic adventure title developed for the Wii's new digital delivery service as well as the PC. However, while the title's launch remains dedicated to these two platforms, we couldn't help but bug TellTale marketing guru Emily Morganti in a recent interview about the possibility of Strong Bad checking his email over Xbox Live or PSN as well."Maybe down the line," she told us, "but for now we're focusing on WiiWare and the PC." Morganti added that the team feels WiiWare is a "natural fit" for the Homestar Runner license, which she notes has "deep roots in old-school Nintendo nostalgia." We're inclined to agree, given that the first Homestar cartoon was put together using Mario Paint. However, TellTale is keeping other console digital delivery services on its radar, as Morganti donned her diplomatic marketing hat and told us that "we'd like to be on all of these at some point. They're all great platforms for episodic content. WiiWare just happens to be the one we're venturing onto first."Look for our complete interview later this week for more from Telltale on Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, including how the project came to be and how much kicking The Cheat will drain our wallets.

We don't have to tell you longtime readers of the site how excited we are for Sam & Max on the Wii. No longer will those of us who don't have the desire or hardware specs to download the game on our PC be left without an option to play these undoubtedly great episodes (not to mention Strong Bad, which we have high hopes for). Sad to say, though, that this doesn't mean the episodes from Season Two will see a simultaneous release on the Wii.This, and more, were said in an interview with CVG. Telltale's Emily Morganti and Dave Grossman took time out of their day to explain a bit about the Wii version of Sam & Max, as well as comment on what they think it takes to make a successful adventure game. Their secret? Mountain lions.

Although it appears the music licensing isn't complete yet for Lego Batman, TT Games has released some gameplay footage featuring Catwoman and The Riddler. Gotham City's notorious crime-causing couple ... wait, wait one second. Did Riddler and Catwoman ever even work together? That's an open invitation for comic book geeks to show off.Expect a lot more videos (like the one above) leading up to the game's release later this year featuring Batman's gallery of villains. We're definitely looking forward to seeing Mr. J and Harley Quinn in all their blocky glory. Too bad we won't hear Harley's nails-on-a-chalkboard voice though.

Days before the Nintendo Media Summit, Telltale Games revealed Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People. I tried the adventure game at the event and spoke with Telltale's marketing coordinator, Emily Morganti.Strong Bad follows in the game style of Sam & Max and other adventures, but it trades some of the linear, story elements for more random activities. For example, Strong Bad can make prank phone calls; play mini-games, including fake-retro throwbacks from the online cartoon; check in-game email, and otherwise explore his world.Players drive most of the game interaction by pointing and clicking with the Wii Remote, although some mini-games use an NES-style approach. Morganti stressed that for this game and the upcoming Sam & Max conversion, Telltale won't add motion controls for their own sake. Telltale's own team of writers and producers, including many who have been part of Sam & Max, are collaborating the Chapmans, Homestar Runner's creators. But unlike Sam & Max, Telltale plans to have different people lead the production on each of the five, roughly monthly episodes.Morganti explained, "Each episode, a different designer [is in charge], which is more like they do on TV. ... It's still the same team. [But] it'll be interesting to see how the episodes feel as a result. With Sam & Max, we've had complaints that they feel too similar. We might find with Strong Bad, that each one feels very different."%Gallery-20305%
