From Software has been very, very busy lately. To complement the announcement of the Kinect-exclusive Steel Batallion sequel is the reveal of the PS3-exclusive Project Dark. Coming in 2011, it's from the team responsible for Demon's Souls. While very few details were made available, it appears to have some kind of cooperative element. It's also probably really difficult.

Team ICO director Fumito Ueda just took the stage during Sony's TGS presentation and confirmed the consistently leaked ICO / Shadow of the Colossus HD remakes coming to PS3. He didn't share many details – Are they sold separately in Japan? – but did reveal one new addition to the seminal PS2 titles that we didn't know about. In addition to HD graphics, both titles will support 3D on PlayStation 3. When can you gladly hand over your hard-earned money to Sony? Ueda would only say "coming soon" but didn't share a date. In our dictionary, "soon" is a lot earlier than the April 2011 date most retailers have agreed upon. Update: At a follow-up press conference, SCEA confirmed that the disc will be available in "Spring 2011." Update 2: We've added some screens, the boxart, and a trailer to the post. %Gallery-102414%

The Last Guardian finally made its appearance at Tokyo Game Show during Sony's TGS press conference. In addition to a new trailer (available after the break), there was a vague release date: Holiday 2011. Certainly, it's a long wait -- one that we hope will be worth it.%Gallery-102416%

A new entry in the Parasite Eve franchise has been long coming. The 3rd Birthday -- the first official sequel in the franchise since 1999 -- will be available in Japan at the very end of this year, on December 22nd. A US release is likely to follow some time in 2011. The third-person shooter arrives exclusively for PSP, joining the now-officially-announced Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix and Dissidia: Duodecim. With so many high-profile Square Enix releases coming to PSP so close to each other, the company announced that there will be some kind of cross-promotional DLC across all three games. Specifics weren't mentioned, but you'll be able to unlock special costumes by owning multiple games.

Sony has announced another special edition PSP to coincide with the upcoming release of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. Like previous special edition PSP systems, it will come branded with art. The black and gold system will be available in Japan on December 1st, just in time for the Christmas rush, with a 19800 yen price tag. But, unlike other PSP bundles, this special edition will come with updated hardware. Unique to this iteration is an improved analog stick that should be more comfortable for extended Monster Hunter sessions. In addition, the hardware will come equipped with the (discontinued) Extended Life Battery. There will be a bulge in the system, but players will be able to game for hours longer than a standard PSP. Japanese gamers will be able to pre-order this system starting today.

Imagine: the gore, the body parts and the watermelons that could be flying out of your fancy 3DTV screen! In addition to Rising, a number of other games were shown in 3D at Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference, including Final Fantasy 14 and Hot Shots Golf 5.

Microsoft has had its time in the sun, kicking things off here at the 2010 Tokyo Game Show. Now it's Sony's turn with its press conference. This is a somewhat smaller affair and, unlike Microsoft's, is being conducted entirely in Japanese -- with no translation provided. We're relying heavily on Ittousai, our international man of mystery, to tell us what's going on, and then we'll do our best to tell you what's going on. Sound like fun? It sure does, so come along and click on through.

Microsoft Game Studios unveiled five new Japanese partnerships during its Tokyo Game Show 2010 keynote today, each intended to "provide fun for users throughout the world." Takashi Sensui, general manager of Xbox in Japan, claimed the projects would "define the future of Xbox 360 and Kinect" -- a future that now promises Kinect-enabled Xbox Live Arcade games. Out of the five new XBLA-exclusive games announced today, three will use Kinect: Haunt, a spooky adventure from Parappa the Rappa's Masaya Matsuura; Project Codename D, a stylish new endeavor from Grasshopper Manufacture's Suda 51; and Project Draco, a Panzer Dragoon-esque flight game from Phantom Dust creator Yukio Futatsugi. These will join third-party Kinect games Child of Eden, Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor and Rise of Nightmares in 2011. Microsoft also revealed Fire-Pro Wrestling from Spike, and a new version of Radiant Silvergun from Treasure (much to the chagrin of eBay profiteers). Both are coming to XBLA in 2011.

Yeah, we're braving the cultural divide and on the ground in Tokyo, Japan for the Tokyo Game Show 2010, which will be happening over the next few days. Naturally, being Engadget, we'll be focusing on the hardware side, with stuff like Move, Kinect, and the possible (if unlikely) 3DS sighting, but if you need a full-on games fix, you can head over to Joystiq for all of that sort of news. It's a collaboration of the highest order. Trust us.

Well, this is ... unexpected. The "Steel Battalion" franchise, perhaps best remembered for its 1,980-button controller, is coming to a platform that requires none. Microsoft has just announced that From Software will bring Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor to the 360 via Kinect. Well, technically, Microsoft just said the game will have "Kinect Enablement," so we guess there's still a chance you'll be able to play with a standard controller, we can't say for sure. Now those of you who already own Steel Battalion controllers ... well, you're probably out of luck. Maybe a job for Ben Heck? %Gallery-102396%

Kinect isn't just about petting animals and playing sports games. The newly announced Project Draco from Grounding Inc. is about dragons, and it's Kinect-enabled. Yukio Futatsugi, creator of Phantom Dust and collaborator on Panzer Dragoon, revealed the game at Microsoft's TGS conference this year. "What I wanted to do most is to fly," Futatsugi explained to the audience. Unfortunately, other than a few red dragons flying through the environment, not much else was shown. It's pegged with a 2011 date. %Gallery-102399%

It's a stormy, miserable day in Tokyo. The rain is falling sideways and the wind is whistling its way through the sea of vending machines, but inside the Makuhari Messe convention center it's warm and dry. That's good, because that's where the games are, and that's where we are, hanging out with Major Nelson and the crew from Joystiq. Previously, Ignition Entertainment had tentatively dated its super bizarre action game, El Shaddai, for "2010." Given the impending closure of that release window, the publisher has revised that time frame to "Spring 2011." The new date was revealed in a TGS preview of the game published by Famitsu. Ignition has also released a grip of new images sure to impress those among us with a proclivity for naughty anime -- we especially covet the totally accidental upshirt shots (like this one). Ignition is said to be focusing its Tokyo Game Show efforts on El Shaddai, so expect to see more on the game in the coming days.
