If you're anything like us, you've been watching the original Star Wars trilogy on loop for months now, even taking time to practice your lightsaber skillz in the comfort of your own home, all in preparation for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Not only will we need to be a harbinger of sorrow for countless waves of storm troopers, but also that of our friends, as the PvP looks to be one of the biggest draws for us.The game's producer, Dan Wasson, recently conducted a video interview on the game. Sure, he talks up the inclusion of Vader, but also goes into detail regarding the Wii version specifically. This is good, considering most of the coverage the game has received has been in relation to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.[Thanks, Chris!]

Speaking to VideoGamer, The Force Unleashed Xbox 360 and PS3 producer, Cameron Suey, has said that LucasArts is planning a demo of the highly anticipated stormtrooper torture sim, just in case there are some weirdos out there who aren't sold on playing as Darth Vader. "I'm not certain about the specifics, but we definitely want to get this game out into people's hands," said Suey. "There are people who are excited about it, who are going to play it right away, whether they play it (the demo) or not."Star Wars: The Force Unleashed hits, chokes and levitates just about every platform in the galaxy on September 16th in the United States, September 17th in Southeast Asia and Australia, and September 19th in Europe.

As the first "next gen" Star Wars title for home consoles (the LEGO iterations don't count), many gamers and fans alike are keeping close watch on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Mixing a dangerous combination of high expectations and lots of hype, eager game addicts everywhere are craving for a demo. So are we getting one? Yes we are, according to a VideoGamer interview with Cameron Suey the producer for Force Unleashed on PS3. While Suey has revealed that a demo is indeed in the works, it's still anyone's guess as to when we'll see it. Suey's exact words were, "I'm not certain about the specifics, but we definitely want to get this game out into people's hands." The game launches on September 16 in North America, so that means the demo could pop up anytime within the four months until release.

  • How to use the Wii remote in The Force Unleashed duel mode

Oh boy, we're really worried now about the plethora of Wii-itis and other Wii-injuries stories coming in September. We've already written about our hands-on time with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for Wii, specifically the duel mode, but G4TV has a video of LucasArts producer Dan Wasson showing X-Play's Morgan Webb how to use the control scheme in duel mode.To summarize: the game recognizes five different directions -- left, right, up, down and "stab" -- for different lightsaber strikes, while force powers are done with the nunchuk and can be combined for combos. We could easily see how this might get out of hand (literally) in heated multiplayer matches, what with someone getting strangled with the nunchuk wire and another hapless Wii remote sent through a big-screen TV. Help us, Wiimote Glove Kenobi, you're our only hope.

LucasArts producer Dan Wasson stopped by G4's X-Play show to demonstrate the Duel Mode and Wii controls for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed -- in an empty movie theatre, no less -- and, while it's no Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the game certainly has its charms.Using the force, or unleashing it, as LucasArts suggests you do, to throw everything you can at your opponent while TIE fighters float around you is a scene we have no problem taking part in. All we need to know now is whether or not we'll still be able to play the game with the Wii Light Sword attachment to further immerse ourselves in the Star Wars Kid experience. At the Nintendo Media Summit, LucasArts showed off the Wii-only duel mode in its multi-platform game, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. These fights require two human players -- there's no AI option -- but otherwise feel almost like they could have shipped as a stand-alone game. I swung sabers against fellow writers and was impressed by the amount of depth in the matches. Each player picks one of 27 characters -- including about 11 costume-variations on the single-player apprentice -- and the fights take place in nine Star Wars locations. The characters include a young Luke, Darth Maul, General Grievous, and others that don't related to The Force story. And their moves are all about the same as in the single-player game, so Luke uses the lightning strike alongside the "dark" characters. The match locations impact the the fights, with players instantly losing a life if they fall into the sarlacc pit, Smash Bros.-style. Otherwise, Hoth, the Jedi temple, and other locations include objects to toss around at each other, giving each location subtle differences. These setting, and deep attacks, counter-attacks, and blocks should add a lot of ways to play these match-ups. This variety makes me anticipate its September 16 release. Plus there's a whole other single-player story to beat. %Gallery-20587%

You all probably know that we're already sold on the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed from LucasArts. Last night, it was revealed that the game will also feature an exclusive level where you control Darth Vader. This undoubtedly caused much excitement for some. Are you one of those people? Or could you care less about this game?

As with any multiplatform release, fanboys will no doubt be arguing about why their respective system is most suitable for LucasArts' latest entry in their midichlorian-infused franchise: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. However, owners of last-gen systems, handhelds, and Wiis wont be left without their fair share of ammunition in the fracas, as this video shows the exclusive content these sometimes ill-respected systems will have access to. We're still a little apprehensive towards the DS control scheme, but everything else fills our wallets with fear -- we may have to buy a few copies of this gem. Fanboyism aside, on which console will you be effortlessly chucking stormtroopers through the air come September 16?

The game that lets players become Darth Vader's personal protégé will be hitting North American retail stores on September 16 of this year. The Southeast Asian and Australian version will see release on store shelves by Sept. 17. Meanwhile, Europeans can pick up their copies on Sept. 19. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed puts players in the shoes of Darth Vader's secret apprentice whose task is to help the dark lord execute Jedi genocide. This all goes down during the time between the films Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Also of note, Spike TV will be getting exclusive gameplay footage during their double weekend Star Wars marathon. This will run from this Friday April 4 through Sunday April 6, and next Friday April 11 through April 13. If you're interested in hearing more about that, then read all about it on LucasArts website. We guess that without any PSN updates for the next two weeks, you've just been given a nice alternative activity to keep you busy. Impeccable timing.

Well, folks, we finally have a date for when the gates to a paradise of exploiting Force powers in a video game will open: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will release on September 16th in North America. Hot on the heels of yesterday's big reveal on the Wii version of the game, you can imagine we're pretty pumped for this. September? Can't get here soon enough. But, wait, there's more. While those of us in North America are getting the game on September 16th, it will arrive in Southeast Asia and Australia on September 17th and release in Europe on September 19th. Pretty sweet, eh? For once, you don't have to wait a ridiculously long time for something.

After the strain induced by writing such a complex and infinitely witty headline, we think it would be best to stay on target for the rest of the post and merely deliver the facts. LucasArts has announced that its physics-based jedi sim, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, will arrive on September 16th in the United States, September 17th in Southeast Asia and Australia, and September 19th in Europe. That's the plan and, given our anticipation for the title, we can only pray the publisher doesn't alter it any further. Developed internally for the Xbox 360 and PS3, The Force Unleashed has players becoming Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and, as the title vaguely alludes to, unleashing the force. Other "equally enthralling" versions of the game releasing on the same date include the Krome Studios-developed Wii, PS2 and PSP titles, as well as a DS game from n-Space. You'll be able to spot exclusive footage on SpikeTV this month, but rather than subjecting you to watching it for hours on end, we've posted a schedule of the game's appearances after the break. %Gallery-1662%

GamePro had some time to check out the Wii version of upcoming Lucasarts game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. During their time with it, they managed to sink their teeth into the robust PVP aspect (called Duel Mode, it allows for one-on-one combat between 27 different characters from the Star Wars universe) of the game, as well as provide details on how the motion controls will work. They even took time to compare the two versions of the game graphically, showing the difference in character detail and textures between them. But, who cares about graphics? The controls are where it's at, right? For the chart containing the game's controls on Wii, click here or head past the break.

At a GDC lecture Haden Blackman, the project lead on The Force Unleashed, stated that Lucasarts has now learned a valuable lesson from its development of the game. All future multiplatform projects will prioritize development on the PS3 before being ported over to the 360. This is a direct result of problems and delays during the development of The Force Unleashed caused by trying to port the 360 version to the PS3. The game is now, thankfully, on track, despite these delays. A live demo of The Force Unleashed was also shown and, from what we've heard, it looks absolutely stunning. We can't wait for its release this summer.[Thanks Paul]

In the aftermath of GDC and the releasing of more Force Unleashed information, the game's Producer, Cameron Suey, sat down (so to speak) with the guys from Gamersyde and gave them a bit of an insight into the development of the newest entry in the Star Wars saga. The interview contains no bombshells, but has plenty of interesting little tidbits, such as the reveal of some limited RPG elements, discussions of the game's enemies and their abilities, as well as talk of the new tech, the DMM, and Euphoria. Check the video out if you're at all interested in the game, as Cameron does have some interesting anecdotes about the gamplay. Set to be released this summer, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is really starting to shape up well, and we just can't wait. And as with the previous gameplay videos, sorry in advance to readers who are having issues with slow loads. We still love ya'll.[Via Gamersyde]

We love Star Wars as much as the next geek, so we found the news about a graphic novel of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed to be only a good thing. It's set to come out this summer, which means it will be released before the game. We suppose if you're worried about spoilers, then you should probably avoid it for a while. If you want a heads-up on the storyline of the upcoming Wii title, though, the book will probably be useful. There will be a regular novel available, too, for those who prefer straight-up words; but, as you probably know, those are neither as nerdy nor as fun. The novel is set to be written by Sean William, who's been on the best-seller list of the New York Times before, while the graphic novel will be the work of Haden Blackman. As you might have guessed, the story involves something about the Jedi, Vader, and the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balance. Sounds good to us.[Via GoNintendo]

  • The Force Unleashed ... in Vanity Fair?

After having been off the radar a bit since it's announcement, the hype train for The Force Unleashed is finally leaving the station. Though it's destinations do seem to be a rather strange: the latest being a three page article at, of all places, Vanity Fair's website. In the article, the ostensibly mainstream writer is actually rather friendly to the game, praising the team, the technology and more. Unfortunately, if you've been following the game at all then there isn't really much news here. The real news for us followers is the host of new screens from the game, exclusive to Vanity Fair. Though they are quite small, they do give an idea of the visual fidelity that the team is shooting for this summer as well as the first look at few characters outside of concept art (Shaak Ti, and your protocol droid). There is a video up as well, which while slow to get going and rather short, is still full of eight kinds of awesome. The article itself has some nice tidbits even if you have been following the game (such as the confirmation that you will play as Darth Vader for at least a bit of the game) and is a good read, but it's Vanity Fair, they're not going to be dropping any megatons with this one. Still, it's nice to see video games moving toward the mainstream in even a small way.

Laugh all you want, but it's a big deal when a magazine as mainstream as Vanity Fair dedicates a sizable chunk of content to legitimate game coverage. VF writer Frank DiGiacomo visited Skywalker Ranch to take a look at the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and walked away impressed with nearly everything he saw.In a massive 4,000-word feature, DiGiacomo covers everything there is to know thus far about The Force Unleashed, from the game's storyline, to its advanced use of three different physics engines, to the people hard at work developing it. Though lengthy, the article is a must-read for anyone following the development of the latest Star Wars title, or anyone curious to watch Vanity Fair up the ante for mainstream game journalists.

It may not be the Wii version, but it's pretty much what we should expect from the game: tons of carnage and asskickery using the Force. If you don't feel like watching an awesome, six-and-a-half minute long tech demo of the physics engines featured in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, allow us to briefly summarize the above video -- things are going to move around very fancily in this game. With the Havok engine controlling the movement of objects, the DMM engine regulating what objects are made from what substances, and the Euphoria engine deciding how enemies react to their environment, the game appears to push the boundaries of physics in gaming. Now we just have to wait until its summer release date to find out whether or not the rest of the game is absolute schlock.
