    Nearly two years after launching on iOS, the mobile version of The World Ends With You is available now for Android devices - and that's lovely. Meanwhile, a Joystiq editor ponders an alternative reality in which Square Enix releases the had-to-be-titled sequel The World Ends With Wii U. Sigh. If you missed TWEWY the first time around, let's recap: The original DS RPG hit Japan back in 2007 before heading West a year later. It's set in Tokyo's Shibuya district, where malls, cafes and clubs are infused with a distinct youth culture that's similarly all over the game.

    The World Ends with You Solo Remix is available now for iPad – and iPhone. We want to be clear that it's not available for "iPad and iPhone," as in, both at the same time, for the same price. Each app is standalone, non-universal, with the iPad version for $20 and the iPhone iteration for $18.The World Ends with You Solo Remix follows Neku and his partner on the same screen, rebooted in HD and with new music and remixes. The app allows wireless play between iPad and iPhone versions with the multiplayer game "Tin Pin Slammer" and profile exchanges.Grab it on the App Store today for iPad or iPhone.

    Square Enix's The World Ends With You countdown has ended with an official announcement of an iOS port. And yes, it's expensive: $18 on iPhone or $20 on iPad.The World Ends With You Solo Remix takes the one-character-per-screen gameplay of the DS game and changes it up for iOS, putting both Neku and his partner on the same screen, with redrawn HD artwork and additional music.You'll be able to see the refreshed Shibuya setting as early as tomorrow: Square Enix lists the release date as August 27 – and that's for the English version.
