Yes, we want to believe. The Uncharted 2 teaser trailer was so spectacular, it chilled us to the bone. While we just assumed it was a CG trailer, Gamezine is making us think differently. Richard Diamant, Naughty Dog's Lead Character Artist, told Gamezine; "Yes, the trailer was all rendered real-time in our engine."Really? That's surely way too much snow to be rendering in real-time. We're going to take this news with a grain of salt -- but we're really hopeful that we'll all be thoroughly blown away by the Spike TV awards.

Assuredly, one of the biggest complaints about Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was the lack of precipitation in the form of ice crystals, mainly of theintricately branched, hexagonal form. In a 30-second teaser trailer for the now-revealed Uncharted 2 (via GameTrailers), developer Naughty Dog has assuaged that concern by proving once and for all that Nathan Drake can exist in a frosty tundra. Don't believe us? See for yourself (video is embedded after the break). As hinted by the trailer, more information is expected during SpikeTV's Video Game Awards on December 14th.Update: New information care of Game Informer, which has "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves" as its cover story. The game will revolve around Marco Polo's voyages and includes new free climbing and -- gulp -- "stealth" gameplay.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe responded back to Eurogamer who got in touch regarding a certain D+Pad article which supposedly outlines SCEE's strategy for 2009. The company communicated that the information in the article was only "rumor and speculation." D+Pad's source claims to have attended a Sony Computer Entertainment Staff Annual Briefing which was held this past Saturday in London. The rumored content suggests that Sony is making plans for a PS3 price cut in March 2009. Also of note, PSP versions of key PS3 titles such as LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm were said to be shown at the briefing. Even better still, Uncharted 2 and God of War III were also apparently shown with U2 looking much like the first Uncharted and GoW3 just amazing the Hades out of the informant. Noting that reliable David Jaffe also recently saw GoW3 footage and talked a bit about it, then perhaps there might be some merit to these rumors after all.

It could just be a funky translation error, but if we believe what we read over at Jeux-France, Uncharted 2 has already started its development cycle. Naughty Dog VP, Christophe Balestra, has confirmed that the game has performed well enough to have the story continued in a second title, though any details beyond that are as difficult to find as all the treasures Nate searched for in the original. We're glad the game will get a second entry, as there are many exciting unexplored ruins for Nate and crew to seek out and fight pirates in. Or ninjas, depending on the locale. Should they seek the lost civilization of Mu for some reason, they'll end up fighting some pirates off the coast of Japan, who could also be ninjas. It's anyone's guess. If Nate seeks Atlantis, he'll fight ... mermen? Aliens? Let us hear your wacky ideas for Nate's second adventure!

The first title in the Uncharted series and a sequel is already being discussed in an interview with Opposable Thumbs. Christophe Balestra, co-president of Naughty Dog, has no qualms in saying that Naughty Dog is a franchise studio - all their previous big games have been parts of a series. Uncharted is no exception and Balestra says that it would be "a waste" to leave the game without a sequel - and we agree! Uncharted fills 91% of a Blu-Ray disc and uses streaming from the disc to the hard drive in order to minimize load times. Naughty Dog seem infatuated with the technology of the PS3 and see it as some sort of challenge to get even more out of it in the future. We look forward to seeing what they come up with as well as finally get our hands on the first title next month.
