Mac users, have no fear! City of Heroes is here! Yes, the original superhero MMO is swooping down onto Apple computers everywhere as NCsoft releases the City of Heroes Mac open beta test, with a release date set for January of 2009. Now Mac users can join in the fight for Paragon City or create chaos in the Rogue Isles without having to dual boot their computers or another medium.Yet, the fun doesn't stop there for Mac CoH players. An exclusive mission teleport power, which allows the player to instantly teleport to their active mission location, and Valkyrie costume set will be made available to all players who purchase the game via digital download in January. Famitsu has a small piece up on Square Enix's upcoming DS entry in their Valkyrie Profile series, providing us with some screens, as well as a small taste of the brilliant cutscenes that often get sprinkled liberally throughout the RPG kingpin's titles. And while we'd like to report on more of the game, we just cannot. We're not even sure when this is going to release in Japan right now.Head on over to Famitsu to check out the screens (now with 100% less blur!).[Via Go Nintendo]

  • How would a Starcraft MMO work?

Speculation over Blizzard's upcoming MMO continues unabated, even with the lack of anything new to feed upon. The biggest hope, I dare to say, is that it's going to be Starcraft that gets the treatment, even if it's still a long way away from release. Starcraft holds fast in many gamers' hearts, including mine, so it's only natural to want more. But when actually considering the possibility, how would it play out?Our Krystalle has already given this a glance over on WoW Insider, and our recent Ask Massively asked a similar question, but I'd like to take it deeper. Let's take World of Warcraft as a point of comparison and see if we can run down this mythical beast.

  • See the story behind Valkyrie of the Battlefield

If we were fluent in Japanese, this new Valkyrie of the Battlefield video would probably make a lot more sense. As it stands, we're left with looking at the game's gorgeous visuals and making lame attempts at trying to understand what's going on. Going on just what we can see in the video, it appears that the East Europe Empire Union and the Atlantic Ocean Federal Organization are fighting over rights to mine a mineral called Ragnite. Caught in between is Gallian, a country to the west of the East European empire and possibly the source of Ragnite. It looks as if it will be up to you and your "rag tag" group of countrymen to overthrow the invaders and bring the land back to peace.

If you haven't realized it already, we're pretty big fans of Sega's upcoming strategy game Valkyrie of the Battlefield. In the newest video that's been released, it appears to show pieces of the game's opening cinematics and other gameplay footage that shows the game's unique twist on the strategy genre. While there's been no confirmation that the title will head to the West, it just looks so damn beautiful that we're continuing to hold out hope. Valkyrie is developed by Sega's Overworks studio, the same guys who brought us Shinobi, Streets of Rage, Phantasy Star, The House of the Dead and Skies of Arcadia. With such a legendary list of games up its sleeve, we just can't help but be entirely confident that its newest title will have awesomeness in spades.
