What a fitting way to send off the 300 "This is Sparta!" gag by honoring one of the best gaming representations of the joke -- namely, Scott Ramsoomair's VG Cats. Second place goes to Rooster Teeth and third place belongs to Slackerz. Thanks to everyone who voted; now that we've seen pretty much every noun possible as a replacement for "Sparta," any repeat of the gag would have to be really clever for us to consider it. (And no, you can't get away with simply replacing the subject and/or verb.) Be sure to let us know of any gaming comics you stumble upon this week!

VG Cats may not be the most universally loved comic out there, but we have to admit, we sorta dig it ... especially when Nintendo mascots take the spotlight, as with the latest strip. 300 parodies may be everywhere (and oh, they are), but this one's worth it. Don't think the above is the payoff, either. The payoff is much better; after all, there's not enough beard in this panel for it to be the best part. We're gonna start linking this every time the anti-Nintendo hordes descend and start screaming about the evil that is the Wii.

Scott Ramsoomair's VG Cats has a new page: a Metal Gear Solid MySpace profile for "David" Snake (screen name solidsnake34). Some of the jokes are subtle; we recommend a viewing or two of Metal Gear Awesome for some clarity. (MGA may in fact not help at all, but we still recommend viewing it for a few chortles.) In case you're wondering and are too lazy to do some minor investigation, every link on the page directs you to VG Cats' real index. If you're viewing this after April 1, the page may be gone; feel free to use this gallery below as a time capsule for the event.%Gallery-2382%

Before we get with the post, a note of thanks to all the commenters that, until this morning at least, were very civil and kind in their discussion of this week's webcomic wrapup. Sure, we've all thought about the dirty things Wario would make us do if Smooth Moves was not an all-ages Nintendo title. VG Cats' Scott Ramsoomair makes the latest crack on the joke and takes top titles. Second place goes to the Penny Arcade Sony satires, while third was apprehended by Scott Johnson of Extra Life. Thanks to everyone who voted, and be sure to let us know of any gaming comics you stumble upon this week!

In the event of a tie, the supreme dictator has the right to choose which comic he deems most worthy, and therefore I am deigning the rare victor Fanboys Online the best webcomic of the week over the often favorite VG Cats (Sorry, Scott 1, but Scott 2 doesn't nearly get the same amount of recognition.) Third place goes to Dueling Analogs' clever mashup of some of our favorite games.Last week's list was over-indulgent, and we intend to purge it of its gluttonous weight and trim according to quality. We have a better idea of what the readers enjoy, but we will ultimately leave the selection up to supreme dictators (read: us). We promise to always showcase the little guys as much as possible, so as not to become a perpetual fistfight amongst the top 5 gaming comics. With that said, thanks to everyone who voted and be sure to let us know of any game-related comics you stumble upon this week!

True, SCEA CEO Jack Tretton's $1,200 boast has been taken somewhat out of context, but it does make for some excellent satire. Enter Penny Arcade's Tycho and Gabe, whose comic earned the not-dubious-at-all award for best game-related webcomic of the week.Rounding up second and third place are Dueling Analogs and VG Cats, respectively.Congratulations to perennial entry RPG-TV, who is celebrating its one year anniversary. According to the comic's creators there will be guest strips aplenty, starting with Digital Unrest's Chris Simmons' comic. Other guest artists promised include the minds behind Dueling Analogs, Fanboys-Online, Boot_Error "and many more whom I cant mention here without making this sentence long and unwieldy."As mentioned in the comments on Saturday, all those comics were sent to us via the tip line will be included this week. Thanks to everyone who voted and be sure to let us know of any gaming comics you stumble upon this week!(Note: $64,800 is equivalent to 54 PlayStation 3 sightings.)

It is amazing how one can take a simple VG Cats comic and -- through clever panning -- make it a compelling anime. It's either a testament to clever camera work or a sad note on cartoons.Take a look at our profile on Dueling Analogs' Steve Napierski and sift through our picks this week's gaming comics. Just ask Scott Ramsoomair, "What can brown do you for you?" His latest VG Cats strip puts a new spin on the latest graphical trends and gets voted best webcomic of the week.Second place goes to Fanboys Online (nice redesign, by the way), and a distant third was claimed by our nerdy favorite, the clever (and scientific) Digital Unrest. How dare Scott Ramsoomair take perfectly innocent lines from the Star Fox franchise and turn it into the subtitles for his dirty, dirty fantasies? And shame on you, dear reader, for picking it as best game-related webcomic for the week. Shame, shame, shame ...Second place went to NekoYasha's Moron Mines comic and third place was taken by The Joy of Tech. Looks like gaming icons need therapy. VG Cats sat down with a few popular characters in their recent strip, resulting in the "most popular webcomic of the week" crown. However redundant you might think it is, we wouldn't mind seeing a few more episodes returning to this theme.Second place went to recently-centennialed Fanboys Online, with a strip (no. 104) on PS3 heroics. Third place was grabbed by Ctrl+Alt+Del -- turns out people love joking about the PS3 launch. Thanks to everyone who voted, and be sure to let us know of any game-related comics you stumble upon this week! (For example, did you see this Foxtrot strip? Yum.)

With a well-established name, a gem of a muse (Phoenix Wright), and sticky sex jokes, VG Cats was the obvious winner from the start of last week's webcomic wrapup. Second place and third place go to Penny Arcade and Ctrl+Alt+Del ... boooring. Thanks to everyone who voted, and be sure to let us know of any gaming webcomics you stumble upon this week -- seriously, we love reading them all.

Despite many objectors in the comments, VG Cats' not-so-subtle vegetable-console analogy took the top spot as the webcomic of the week. Ctrl+Alt+Del's diabolical Sony conspiracy took second place, and Digital Unrest's physics / history lesson takes third. However, our personal favorite, and a favorite of the commenters, was Fanboys' clever "I hacked your board game" strip. Props to you, Scott. Thanks to everyone who voted, and be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!
