The latest episode of the 1UP Yours Podcast held an interesting revelation about the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. Some fans felt burned by Rockstar's decision to bring the beloved Liberty City Stories over to the PS2 in a direct port. Well, according to the podcast, an editor that had a chance to play the game found out that Vice City will not makes it way to the PS2. Why? Because the game's going to be completely optimized for the handheld, making it more difficult to do a straight port Considering how Liberty City sold 2.2 million copies worldwide, it doesn't seem like a bad decision at all. According to GameFront, it appears that the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories will be presented to members of the press in next week's Games Convention in Germany. Also on-hand at the show, according to GamesIndustry.biz is Sonic Rivals, the first ever original PSP platformer starring Sega's famous mascot. With the convention pending, it appears that new screens of both games are making their way around the internet. CVG has posted new screens of Sonic Rivals, featuring the aptly named Silver, who boasts psychic powers. GAME also has new direct-feed screenshots of Vice City Stories in action, showcasing the "new" rocket launcher.[Thanks, Adriaan!]

Ever since Vice City Stories was first revealed, the magazine scans have been trickling in on a pretty regular basis. This week's victim of fanboy scanners is Games magazine. There are five new screenshots and a few new tidbits: A new rocket launcher. (Was there anything wrong with the old rocket launcher?) NPC behavior is affected by time. So, you'll see clubbers at night, and bums at the break of dawn. Missions won't be point A to point B drives (although they were pretty good for on-the-go play). Expect water to play a much larger role in the game. Read the full story to find out more.[Thanks, Adriaan!]

What's this "Grand Theft Auto" game that I keep on hearing about? What does it mean that GTAPortable.com has even more pictures and scans from the UK Official PlayStation Magazine? You start the game off pretty damn broke: you start the game in an all-new trailer park. The city has actually gotten bigger. Higher resolution textures, so that you can really appreciate the billboards in the game. Biker gangs return. Best thing ever: better looking palm trees! Many have proclaimed that Vice City was by far the best of the modern 3D GTA games, so a return with Vice City Stories is more than welcomed. Let's hope for more details soon. amazon.com is offering pre-orders for $48 shipped.[Via QJ]

GTAPortable.com has posted the first screenshots, scanned from GamePro (Australia), of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. In addition, the GamePro article reveals a number of new gameplay details, including the game's lead role, Victor Vance. Remember him?Vic, Lance's brother, is a 28 year-old Marine, and unlike Tommy Vercetti, he can swim (hint, hint). He was gunned down in the beginning of Vice City. So, as speculated, VCS occurs before the original Vice City. In fact, VCS is set in 1984. Expect subtle (and not-so-subtle) differences in the city you conquered four years ago on PS2.

GTA: Vice City Stories is a game that's so important, that we're willing to do box art stories on it. Every single morsel of info that trickles down to us seems so very precious. Well, it appears that the Australian version of GamePro has a cover story on Vice City Stories, and thanks to the beauty of the Internet, all of us can share in the details: The game takes place two years before PS2's Vice City: 1984. The game will feature multiplayer, similar to Liberty City Stories. VCS is "much bigger than Vice City." Helicopters now join the list of usable vehicles! Unlike Tony, you won't drown instantly in water: you can swim! New weather effects, including hurricanes. Better graphics: more crowded streets, better animation, greater draw distance, more variety of character models. I have to admit, just thinking about all these features makes me giddy with anticipation. You can read more at PSP Hacks, and then check out screenshots here.

So, what does it mean when PSP Fanboy resorts to putting up box art and "Top 5" lists? One of two things: The game featured is the sequel to the best selling PSP game so far: Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. That game has made over $51 million in revenue. You could buy a lot of hot coffee with that kind of money! It's a slow news day. Okay, so both might be true. Regardless, now we know for sure that the game will release on October 17 and come with the same premium price tag of $50. Rockstar knows that you'll buy it no matter what they charge you. You can pre-order it on their pretentious official website.[Via Gamespot]
