This is the Starcraft 2 trailer from the WWI announcement less than an hour ago. Do I really need to say more? Starcraft 2! Despite the fact that this is all CGI, with no actual gameplay showcased, it's still got me even more excited for what is sure to be an amazing game.

Blizzard have updated their patch 2.1 preview page with an official Black Temple desktop, as well as a preview movie, in streaming flash or DivX download. The movie offers us a bit of background information on the history of the Black Temple, and we get to see some fun scenes of Illidan, Vashj, Kael'thas, and the narrator of the video kicking it villian-style, as well as some of the Temple's interior.I can't quite place the narrator, though; he's a Draenei who is ostensibly under the service of Illidan because Illidan came through and opposed Magtheridon, whom this Draenei really didn't like. Mr. Narrator isn't under any illusions as to Illidan's nature, though. He knows full well Illidan is evil and tells us that "soon, the Betrayer will become the betrayed." I'm sure the narrator is someone I ought to recognize -- who is it? Or is it just some random peon? Edit: It's Akama. Thanks, everyone. That's what I get for ignoring most Shadowmoon quests.Seeing as how my guild is still on Aran in Karazhan, I don't imagine I'll set foot in the Black Temple any time soon. Still, this video has certainly got me excited about it, and I'm already drooling at the loot we've seen from the PTR. Any of you guys reckon you'll be starting weekly BT raids when the patch hits?

Loyal reader SirCasey took the trouble of leafing through all our Moviewatches to make sure we hadn't posted this vid already, and then tipped us off to it -- thanks! I like this piece quite a bit, even if it is a bit old (July '06). I'm pretty sure my school would be Darnassus, out of the options presented here. To update it a bit, what do you guys think Exodar College would be like (Exodar Institute of Technology?), or the University of Outland at Shattrath? Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go raid my kitchen...

  • WoW Moviewatch: Nihilum kills Magtheridon

I would've titled this "How to Kill Magtheridon," except there's not very much strategy that can be gleaned from this video. Still, it's an entertaining watch, and I love PvE vids. Unfortunately, there's no embedded version that I can find anywhere, which means if you do want to watch it, it'll be a 255 MB torrent or direct download. [Edit: YouTube version now in place; muchas gracias, Aphext] It alternates between MT and Paladin point of view, and it took me until halfway through the video to figure out what seemed so odd about the pally -- he's a Blood Elf! I know BC leveled the playing field gear-wise, but it still surprises me that a less-than-two-month-old character is doing bleeding-edge content, and winning at it. There's a raid warning towards the end of the video reading "Bravo first try" -- was this really Nihilum's first try on the boss? If so, bravo indeed! Also, I couldn't quite make out what the loot was, aside from one of the T4 chest tokens and some gold. Anyone have any guesses?[thanks, Babbon]

  • Roboboa slithering about... and bustin' a move?

WowWee sure gave everyone a lot to gawk at here at CES, bringing just about the whole zoo along with them to Vegas, and while we've seen the Dragonfly, the RoboQuad, and the RoboPanda all doin' their thang on tape, it's about time the slithering one got his (her?) face time as well. The Roboboa's well-lit face indeed takes away from the fear folks usually feel when approaching a snake, but hey, when you've got moves like this guy (gal?), you can't help but draw positive attention. Go on, hit the read link to get a robotical lesson in funk.

If the RoboQuad and RoboBoa didn't scare you enough, now we've got a video of the scariest Robo-animal of them all... the RoboPanda. The fun lil' cutesy robot sounded like it had the potential to go iRobot / Matrix / [insert favorite robots take over world scenario here] when the bot asked, "Have you ever been attacked by a panda?" It really did say that, but if you could avoid the obvious welcoming of our robot panda overlords, we'd appreciate it. [MP4] Download the video

  • Nintendo's Wii gets into the home automation game

For those of you who've just unboxed (or already snagged) a Nintendo Wii, and are more interested in casing out the innards or hacking it up, we've got yet another challenge for you and your console. While we've seen how to control the functions of your home with a PSP, there's just something special about flinging your Wiimote up and down to lower and raise the lighting conditions around your crib. Aside from a Wii, Wiimote, and a good bit of spare time, you'll also need the Smarthome Insteon lights w/ ControlLinc, an Aurora Multimedia WACI NX, a Linux-based PC, and if you wish, an optional AXIS PTZ IP Security Camera and Proliphix IP Thermostat. Once you've got your hardware in order, you'll need to get your palms on a PHP script that directs the IP traffic and forwards the appropriate information. This home automation mod has the potential to control "lights, thermostat, cameras, jukeboxes, DVRs, TiVos," and basically anything you can dictate via IP information. So if you're looking for a great way to spend your hours off, and don't mind getting dirty with a little coding, be sure to hit the read link for the full rundown, and click on through for a YouTube demonstration.[Via Digg, thanks Nate]

While product announcements are certainly thrilling at times, there's really nothing better than getting some live action video to spy before you buy. We've seen Wowwee's FlyTech Dragonfly buzzing around T3's headquarters, and we've witnessed Doom being played on an OLPC XO, but now we've got several videos showing Team Xtender's XFPS 360 doing its thang. The handy converter box allows gamers who dig the Xbox 360's high definition visuals -- but prefer to input commands via Sony's dual-shock controller or the tried and true keyboard / mouse tandem -- to have their wildest wishes granted. Moreover, it reportedly plays nice with the PS2 light gun, racing wheel, dance mat, and guitar (huzzah!). So if you're still fence-bound trying to decide whether or not this thing's worth your $79.99 come the first week of January, be sure to click on for a YouTube demonstration, and hit the read link for some more in-depth coverage.
