World of WarCrafts: We understand that "Bound by Bone" is in fact your very first remix effort. Bravo! What's your musical background? Vedrim: Music has always been a part of my life. I was surrounded by it from a very early age. My mother's side of the family has a strong musical history. She always played her own compositions on our piano throughout my childhood, and her father, Robert Harris, actually wrote the original theme music for the Spiderman TV show to go along with Paul Webster's lyrics.

First up, the only lambishly sweet of the bunch this week: yes, it's My Little Zhevra. This handmade custom named Zebu the Zhevra comes from thatg33kgirl at Deviant Art. It's only been six months since MrVoletron burst onto the YouTube scene with his exuberantly earworm-ish "XT-002: Bad Toys Remix" remix. Already, he's built a fan base of WoW-playing fans clamoring for the next mix -- and he just keeps on producing. His latest release (posted just three days ago) is "Invincible" (above), a spin on the three-minute piece of the same name released by Blizzard last month. We've got "XT-002: Bad Toys Remix," the hilarious classic "Onyxia Wipe Remix," a sampler of the full-length "Music for Spaceports" (inspired by EVE Online), and an interview with MrVoletron himself, after the break.

It's another week of catch-up this week, as we pull out the older submissions we didn't have the opportunity to feature in 2009. First up: digital art of Illidan Stormrage, a school project from l1onh3art of DeviantArt. We were completely taken in by the realism -- we thought it was a sculpture at first, too -- but the work is actually done with a digital tool called ZBrush. We can safely say that while this may not be an actual bust, it's definitely no "bust" when it comes to creativity!

It's all about making time for what you love to do -- so says Jason Babler, a former WoW player who's nurturing a love for sculpting fantasy and gaming characters, with eye-popping results. It took four months of patient, part-time work to create this troll hunter, based on artwork from Upper Deck. Jason's managed to combine a passion for gaming with a lifelong interest in fantasy, carving out a hobby that he describes as his way to get away from the computer and develop the art skills he's always wanted. While we've spotlighted papercraft before on the site, we haven't featured it specifically on World of WarCrafts. Never let it be said that World of WarCrafts left a creative stone unturned! Papercrafting is not the same thing as origami, which is the Japanese art of folding paper into intricate representations, preferably without cutting or glue. Papercrafting, in contrast, is the process of creating scale models from heavy, pre-printed paper or stock. Craftsy types download patterns rated by difficulty from sites such as World of Warcrafts Unofficial Papercrafts. World of WarCrafts: Sweet but not spineless

Admit it: You thought murlocs were spineless little critters, didn't you? Take a peek inside our gallery, below, and you'll see that even this sweet little fellow boasts his share of backbone -- literally. World of WarCrafts visited with Bradley Barger (aka Monmanteau of US Stormreaver), one of the winners of this year's WoW Holiday Dessert Contest, for a taste of the inspiration behind his winning creation. What we discovered beneath this little guy's skin (a backbone of steel!) was more spine than we ever expected from a murloc. The creation is based around a metal armature, which Bradley covered with cereal-based cake and butter cream, then finished with fondant for a smooth texture. The spines are made from colored sugar, melted and cut to shape. Allow us to pass along several submissions from crafty readers with a Christmas-y bent ... First up, the Christmas tree ornaments (above) sent in by Faylinne from US Duskwood. Faylinne created these as a gift for Cyer of US Blade's Edge, the friend she credits as inspiring her to play World of Warcraft. Sounds like great results from both sides of that particular equation. Join us after the break for a Horde cookie cutter and gingerbread cookies, plus a small gallery of sweets from a baker new to WoW-themed desserts.

So when was the last time your holiday stocking was covered with Shadowfiends, tree form and daggers? Yeah, we thought so. Neither are ours. Follow the example, then, set by these customized wonders from Arensson of Thorium Brotherhood and her friend Syrellis. "The look on our hubbies' faces was absolutely priceless when we surprised them," Arensson reports. "Definitely worth the effort. I have to note that we tried our very best to get a Berserking enchantment on the dagger for the rogue and a +81 Spellpower enchantment on the staff for mine. We had a blast making these stockings and are thinking about doing ones for our alts next year!" We've got more holiday merriment after the break: including a truly epic rendering of the ubiquitous "Night Before Christmas."

What happens when you combine an art class degree requirement with a WoW player who's been locked out of the game due to the school's unresolved router issues with Battle.net? For Hurbz of US Sargeras-A, you get "WoW on the brain," plus this classy faction goblet. "This was my first real experience with pottery," he admits, "and though I had done some projects earlier for the class, this was my first time using the potters wheel." We'd say this guy deserves an A -- and a clear path through his school network's Battle.net issues. Let the guy get his game on so he's not throwing WoW into every project he gets his hands on, hmm? World of WarCrafts: Getting hammered

Here's a type of craft we haven't seen much of before: a hammered metal bowl that simply bellows "For the Horde!" Talk about taking blacksmithing to a whole new level ... We visited with Blazecheetah, the bowl's maker, to find out more about the crafting behind her creation. Her play-by-play on its creation is an intriguing peek behind the scenes, if you've never been exposed to metalcrafting before. "The bowl is made of 16-gauge copper that was originally a flat, square sheet," she explains. "I cut a circle shape out of it, then did the ol' fashioned method of raising a bowl shape, which involves making a small indent in the center of the circle, making some guideline rings (think of a bullseye) around it; then, using a T stake and a certain type of hammer, went around the bowl hammering it in a spiral like pattern, following the guidelines. Between each round of hammering, you have to do what's called annealing, which is basically just heating up the metal with a torch until it's red hot, then dousing it in water. This keeps the metal soft and easy to work with."

Zarhym may not care for cranberries, but we do -- and since Pilgrim's Bounty is over and you can't get the ingredients for a good Cranberry Chutney anymore in game, we'll just have to make it at home instead. Although the word "chutney" sounds like it would be on the slimy and disgusting side for both cooking and eating, it's actually a tasty little condiment. We turned to Wisegeek.com (style points for that reference, please!) for a non-biased description of this dish: "Chutney is similar in consistency to jelly, salsa or relish, and is used as a sweet and sour condiment. Usually made fresh, chutney contains fruit and sugar to give it a sweet taste, and almost all chutney contains vinegar and perhaps onions to give it a corresponding sour flavor. The ingredients are mixed together and then simmered slowly. While chutney is primarily sweet and sour, there can also be many variations of spices, often giving it a hot and spicy flavor." Sound tempting? We've got a version for cooks and non-cooks alike.
World of WarCrafts: The littlest Murloc

We simply couldn't resist wrapping up the season with this latecomer: a young Murloc from the family of Tyrialfrozen of US Ursin. The little gurgler's mother adapted the costume from a Wal-Mart baby tiger costume pattern. Her instructions, as channeled through Tyrialfrozen: "Follow the pattern for the body. There wasn't anything special, just good old sewing machine and scissors. The same was done to make the main part of the head. Next was the blue and white stripes, which were sewed directly on the head. For the red hair/spikes, she cut out long strips and soaked them in half-and-half water/glue and then cut up the bottom. They were then sewn into the head through small cuts. "The eyes were ping-pong balls that got cut in half and painted. In order to get them on the head, she had to hot glue them to some string, which then was sewn on. Next, she added some white fleece teeth, and to cover everything up, she put in a red fleece layer in the head. In order to close the front, she added some Velcro. Last was some red trim and 'feet' and a zipper." We've got a full gallery showing the construction process as well as the finished product (and something extra), after the break.

Tight-knit player communities are what keep many WoW players logging in day after day, week after week. These lucky realms are woven together by energized individuals, tailors of camaraderie who give generously of their time and creativity. Korialstrasz player Snuffy wrote to WoW.com recently to throw some light on one of his realm's unsung heroes: "Tazeria is a well known Alliance rogue who has taken the server by storm through her stories. Using players from the realm, she has written 13 chapters in her story, each one gaining the praise and admiration of those that read. It's become an honor when Tazeria whispers you to ask you questions about how you would picture your character if he/she was real." Tazeria posts her tales, blending the in-game and real-life foibles of Korialstrasz players, on the realm forums as well as donated space on the Vindication guild forums. "I was lucky enough to be asked to host her stories on our website," wrote Snuffy. "Nothing brings the server together like the stories that Tazeria has written."
Breakfast Topic: An ode to the WoW TCG
I'll be up front and admit that I don't play Upper Deck's World of Warcraft TCG. If I had oodles disposable income and the time, though, I totally would. It's just that between the MMOG and, uh, real life it seems pretty difficult to find time to collect cards, build decks, and find people to play with or compete against. That said, I think Upper Deck's card game looks awesome and I had fun in the short time that I played it back when it was launched. If I wasn't playing WoW, I think I'd be playing the card game. More than any other licensed WoW product, I think, the WoW TCG feels extremely tied in to the game world. The art, along with a lot of game references such as NPCs, locations, and spells, make it feel like an extension of Azeroth. In many ways, some of the things that are featured in the card game are canon. I thoroughly enjoy the artwork in particular. They blow me away and I use every opportunity (such as this one) to include WoW TCG card art into my posts. I can't praise Upper Deck's graphic design team enough -- everything from the cards to the website to associated merchandise feels 100% World of Warcraft. When the WoW.com office in the clouds heard the rumor that the WoW TCG was about to die a sad and miserable death, I was kind of dismayed. I mean, we knew it to be false, but it was a sad thought anyway. Aside from being a fun game (and all-consuming habit!), the TCG is also famous for its loot cards. So on this nice morning, I'd like to make a toast to the not-dead-nor-dying card game. Do you play the WoW TCG? Would you have wanted to? What're your favorite cards? Any favorite loot cards? Is there anything in particular about the TCG that you like or dislike?

Not that you really needed more sweets, this close to the hip-padding holiday season -- but these cupcakes from Gixx of Natural Order on US-Farstriders-H look sweet enough to tempt the Alliance into developing a taste for the Horde, don't you think? "I am new to fondant," Gixx confessed to us, "but it's honestly just fancy Play-Doh. You spend a few years as a kid making fake food with that stuff, you learn a few tricks. I did learn that a paper printout of the Horde symbol will stick to the fondant and make a huge mess, so I had to use an X-Acto knife to slice it out of some thin, clear plastic. That left me with a reusable stencil that I then cut around the fondant with." Other advice from the chef: Frost normally before decorating for bonus to +taste. Keep fondant covered and sealed until you're ready to use it. Keep the finished cupcakes covered, too, so they stay soft and yummy. For the Horde! World of WarCrafts: Custom Arthas figure

This week's WarCraft comes from Jilara of Southshore, US Perenolde (aka WoW.com reader RetPallyJil ) -- and yes, that's Arthas himself. The 12-inch customized figure is a patchwork of modified parts and handcrafted pieces. Arthas wields a "Fantasy Letter Opener" Frostmourne from eBay, refined and repainted. "As for Arthas, I started with a Dragon Models' Alexander the Great as a base figure," she explained to World of WarCrafts. "It was fairly expensive, but I thought the face sculpt was worth it; youthful without being boyish, mature without being craggy. The hair had to be special-ordered -- it's nylon instead of the world standard acrylic (to which I'm terribly allergic.) Again, it was somewhat expensive, but sculpted hair wouldn't do him justice."
