Quick on the heels of patch 5.1 is a round of hotfixes to the patch. These are mainly bug fixes, as well as fixes and adjustments to several raid encounters, and a handful of class tweaks. Unfortunately, the Turkey Shooter can no longer be used on mounted players. Perhaps turkeys do not have the appropriate riding skill? An issue causing various items to be awarded to players of the incorrect class or spec in Raid Finder has been fixed. Sky Crystals will no longer function against Alani once her Nimbus Shroud has been dispelled. Follow along for the full list of hotfixes.

A new batch of hotfixes has hit the servers, and several issues with LFR have been tweaked and adjusted. Several encounters have also been adjusted for difficulty level, which should be a relief to LFR players. In addition, there have been a few tweaks to world bosses, and one mob in particular is no longer able to become an actual mob of creatures. Alliance players, I'm sorry but Teng Applebloom has lost the secrets of cloning technology. In the Heart of Fear, the Raid Finder version of Grand Empress Shek'zeer has been adjusted to be a more appropriate difficulty level. Amber-shaper Un'sok has also been tweaked. The issue that sometimes caused Alani to despawn after being pulled with a Sky Crystal has been fixed. Read on for the full list of hotfixes.

Everyone loves the hotfix gnome. He signals the arrival of more of the hottest of fixes, and has a fabulously pink beard. He's heated up yet another bunch of hotfixes for us all, and if you missed the last batch, check them out. Today's hotfixes (that we believe have been active since the 19th, but have just been announce today) include: Hunters can no longer carry battleground flags while stealthed with Camouflage Players that have been defeated by the Headless Horseman can now use the Looking For Dungeon interface to return for another attempt. Digging up a find while practicing Archaeology will now continue to grant skill points past 50. Wyrmhorn Turtles are no longer quite so prolific. Poor things. Hit the break for all the hotfixes! Wyrmhorn Turtles aren't quite so prolific there either.

  • Vengeance hotfixes explained

    10.22.2012

If you've never played a tank and are unaware of Vengeance, it's a tanking-specific ability that causes you to gain attack power equal to 2% of the damage taken from an enemy. Vengeance, therefore, makes a tank's attacks more powerful based on what's hitting them. This helps with threat generation, and gives tanks a way to keep aggro when faced with big-hitting DPS trying (intentionally or otherwise) to pull mobs off them. Vengeance has caused some discussion, granting tanks with huge chunks of attack power whenever people hit them in PvP, which was fixed a while back during Cataclysm. There have been a few changes to Vengeance lately, which have been causing a little confusion, so Blizzard Blue Daxxarri has stepped in to alleviate players' concerns.

Roll up, roll up! Hotfixes! Get them while they're hot... erm... fixes! They're coming in thick and fast, and the latest batch are hot off the presses. I really need to stop making jokes. Hotfix highlights include: Pet Battle matchmaking has been improved. The pets on each team involved in the battle will now be closer in level with each other. Teams queueing for Arenas will temporarily no longer be placed into the The Ring of Valor. Windsong and Elemental Force weapon enchantment activations will no longer remove stealth. Void Shift can no longer be used on NPCs, including player pets. I don't know about you, but my main question is why has Ring of Valor been deactivated? It is not among my favorite arenas, so I'm not exactly upset, but still curious! Hit the break for the full list of hotfixes.

While he says he doesn't want to get into the habit of it, everyone's favorite blue crab, Lead Systems Designer Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street made this announcement today: @venaliter It may not be live if you haven't seen it. I don't want to get in the habit of announcing hotfixes on Twitter. +25% PoH and PoM. - Greg Street (@Ghostcrawler) October 10, 2012 Now, while he says it "may not be live yet", it seems from follow up posts from Nethaera on the official forums that "yet" is code for "in the next batch of hotfixes". Nethaera says: Nethaera Quote: When will this buff go live. Because it was not there last night. Checked my logs from last week PoH is still the same. Nethaera hopped on the forums today to let us know that the massive city deaths were indeed a result of an exploit taken by nefarious individuals. The exploit has been hotfixed already, and it should no longer be a problem. Blizzard doesn't mess around with stuff like this... if people are found exploiting the game and causing problems, they'll not only find themselves banned but also in some other troubles. Nethaera Earlier today, certain realms were affected by an in-game exploit, resulting in the deaths of player characters and non-player characters in some of the major cities. This exploit has already been hotfixed, so it should not be repeatable. It's safe to continue playing and adventuring in major cities and elsewhere in Azeroth. As with any exploit, we are taking this disruptive action very seriously and conducting a thorough investigation. If you have information relating to this incident, please email hacks@blizzard.com. We apologize for the inconvenience some of you experienced as a result of this and appreciate your understanding. source Mists of Pandaria is here! Another round of hotfixes for patch 5.0.5 have arrived, and this time the post is massive. Among the list are a few things we already knew about, such as the changes being made to Justice and Valor point gear and reputation levels. But there are far, far more adjustments and tweaks that have been made to everything from classes to quest objectives. Hunters, many beasts out in the world are now properly able to be tamed. Paladins, Holy Wrath now deals 100% more damage. Druids, the periodic damage of Thrash (Bear) now deals more damage -- 60%, to be precise. Apparently captive breeding programs have brought the endangered Briny Clackers and Brineshell Snappers back to sustainable proportions. Who knew? The incredibly stylish Umbrella of Chi-Ji has had its stats improved. Read on for the full list of hotfixes.

    09.27.2012

Blizzard have been hotfixing 5.0.5 thick and fast, as you would expect with a huge patch like this that introduces such a lot of additional content. To enable those of us who are so engaged with playing the game that we aren't fully in tune with the hotfixes, Blizzard have provided a compilation post for all the recent fixes. The main angle for me when reading hotfixes is looking through them and wishing I'd been around to find out about the un-hotfixed bug. Some of them sound so cool, like the stag stacking from just after 5.0.4's release, or Queen Azshara's adds' unreasonably large arcane bomb. Also, the very high-speed chess in Karazhan! That would have been amazing to watch. In the most recent set, from September 25, what are you looking at that sounds like it would have been fun to witness? I have heard very mixed reports on Drek and Vanndar in Alterac Valley. When I went in there not long ago, they seemed to have very low health, but people on twitter a while back were complaining that they had been boosted to way too high a level and were basically unkillable resulting in resource battles rather than the usual run -- run -- raid boss in Alterac. Also the hotfix of a cross-realm zone bug where your passenger was dismounted from your flying mount sounds like something I really should have taken advantage of. I, particularly on my paladin, take great pleasure in flying up as high as possible, before right-clicking off my rocket and dropping people for a long parachute ride. Did anyone experience these bugs? And check battle.net for the compilation of all the hotfixes so far. It's open warfare between Alliance and Horde in Mists of Pandaria, World of Warcraft's next expansion. Jump into five new levels with new talents and class mechanics, try the new monk class, and create a pandaren character to ally with either Horde or Alliance. A new list of hotfixes has been released, posted by Kaivax on the official site. The list today includes a bug fix for Theramore's Fall and a whole host of class changes. However, I suspect the best of the list will be some long-awaited adjustments to the function of cross-realm zones. Cross-realm zones will no longer brings together players over three time zones apart. In addition, when Tol Barad and Wintergrasp commence, cross-realm zoning should be disabled for the duration of the battle, and resume after the battle has been decided. And on top of all of that, cross-realm zones should no longer behave erratically when a party changes leader. Read on for the full list of hotfixes, including a massive amount of class changes and tweaks.

Another day, another round of hotfixes for patch 5.0.5. Today's changes, posted by Kaivax on the official site, address some welcome quest and bug fixes. More importantly, a ton of class tweaks have been addressed, including a few fixes that ought to help out players dedicated to PvP. Shadow priests, your Shadow Word: Pain spell will now interrupt flag captures with its initial damage. Mages, your Pyroblast and Combustion should now combine to do the expected amount of damage and critical damage. New worgens, you can breath a sigh of relief. The Banshee Queen's health in the Gilneas starting area has been returned to normal. And if you're headed to Scholomance, Jandice Barov's Gravity Flux and Whirl of Illusion should now work with players' immunity abilities as expected. Read on for the full list of hotfixes!

Patch 5.0.5 was released primarily to do some minor adjustments and tweaks, as well as fix some system errors. Today we've got a small round of hotfixes for the patch, including a few class tweaks, as well as some much-needed adjustments to Cross-Realm Zones. Highlights include the following. Rogues, you can start feeling sneaky again -- Stealth has been made more effective. For those working on the Glory of the Cataclysm Hero achievement, it no longer requires a Mists of Pandaria dungeon achievement. The Chess encounter in Karazhan should now be behaving properly. 04.18.2012

Hot on the heels of patch 4.3.4 is a small set of hotfixes, none of which have anything to do with what was introduced in the latest patch. Included in the official notes are one class fix, one item fix, and one UI fix that is sure to have guild leaders breathing a small sigh of relief. Kaivax April 17 Classes Warlock Destruction Bane of Havoc no longer persists when the warlock changes to a spec that does not include the talent. Items Fras Siabi's Barely Bigger Beer is a now bit less big, and its effect no longer stacks. UI Inactive guild leader replacement now requires 90 days of absence, up from 30 days. Ascent to the rank of guild leader is now only available to guild members at Rank 2, 3, or 4. source The fix to Fras Siabi's Barely Bigger Beer was something that was actually implemented a few weeks ago. However, we now have an official announcement: Giant, tromping players on ridiculously huge mounts are no longer permitted. • Retribution bug hotfixed, Vengeance temporarily returns to PvP

    02.02.2012

Zarhym has given us an update on the bug with Seal of Truth from yesterday, and it opens a fascinating window into the complexities of the code that ultimately is the World of Warcraft. Zarhym - Update on Retribution Paladin Bug The bug where paladin Seals could sometimes cause excessive damage has been fixed. This bug came as a result of a hotfix we put in to fix an issue where some attacks, such as Scatter Shot, were still causing Vengeance in PvP situations. While these things may seem totally unrelated, it has to do with our proc system, which is an extremely complicated mechanic under the hood. We reverted that hotfix, meaning you may sometimes see Vengeance in PvP. But we don't think that will present a major balance concern at this time. To be clear, we have no current plans to take action against players who experienced this bug last night unless we come across any extreme cases. The error was ours and we haven't seen any evidence -- so far -- of players excessively exploiting the bug. We reserve the right to take action if we do find evidence of players crossing the line to repeatedly exploit this bug for major in-game advantages. source I won't lie, I find this fascinating. The idea that the issue lies in a system that on the surface would seem totally unrelated gives me the shivers just imagining what it must be like to maintain and advance the design for code that's been around for years and years. I have to agree that letting Vengeance sometimes pop up in PvP is probably the better option. It's only going to happen in an extremely limited set of circumstances, anyway. I'm also glad only extreme edge cases will be seeing bans, as I had no idea the bug even existed while leveling my ret paladin last night and only figured it out afterwards. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has destroyed Azeroth as we know it; nothing is the same! In WoW Insider's Guide to Cataclysm, you can find out everything you need to know about WoW's third expansion, from leveling up a new goblin or worgen to breaking news and strategies on endgame play.

  • Retribution paladin DPS broken after realm restarts [Updated]

    02.02.2012

According to several reports, including the official forums, World of Logs, and several of our own staff, retribution paladins are experiencing a bug after tonight's rolling realm restarts. The bug has retribution paladins dealing several times their normal damage, with new records on World of Logs easily exceeding 100,000 DPS on any given Dragon Soul encounter. The bug appears to be related to Seal of Truth, as it's dealing over 60% of the affected ret paladins' damage, vastly dwarfing all other sources. The bug seems to be affecting PvP and PvE, as there are many reports of retribution paladins being nigh unstoppable in Battlegrounds tonight. One group of retribution paladins toppled Lord Rhyolith in under 15 seconds. There has been no official word from Blizzard just yet on these developments, although we can be sure that there will be a change deployed to fix this bug as early as possible. Reminder from the editors: Do keep in mind that abusing things like this is considered exploitation. Blizzard does have the right to ban you for abusing this if you're using it to bypass content à la our old friend Karatechop. Don't make Blizzard's job harder, and don't risk your account. Update 10:00 a.m. EST Blizzard is aware of the problem and is looking for a way to solve it. They also issue the same warning we did -- don't exploit this. Zarhym -- Ret Paladin DPS Bug We're aware of this issue and looking into it right now. It's likely we won't have further updates for you until we're back in the office in the morning PST. Just as a reminder from the Terms of Use: C. Rules Related to Game Play. (i) Using or exploiting errors in design, features which have not been documented, and/or "program bugs" to gain access that is otherwise not available, or to obtain a competitive advantage over other players. source

It's been a while since we've seen a hotfix announcement, but now that the holidays are over, the hotfixes are back in full swing. Today's list is a short one with no class changes, but it does include some much-needed Darkmoon Faire fixes as well as adjustments to instances and raids. Darkmoon items The Captured Journal and The Enemy's Insignia should now be able to be completed, even if they've been turned in in previous months. Darkmoon Tonks and Darkmoon Zeppelins will no longer become a Horde Balloon after faction-switching from Alliance to Horde. The proc damage from the Vial of Shadows trinket should now be increased by ranged attack power for hunters. Killing bosses in a guild group while using the Dungeon Finder should now award guild reputation and experience. Follow after the break for the full list of hotfixes.
