Here at WoW.com, we're on a Daily Quest (which we try to do every day, honest) to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Remember running Scholomance a hundred times just to try to get that last piece of Dreadmist? And no one ever wanting to bother killing Jandice because she was optional and annoying? (It's true: I'm speaking from personal experience.) Times and loot tables may have changed, but we're still a bit gear-obsessed. So, for today's quest, here's what's been going 'round the blogosphere about gear. Blessing of Fish talks about why our gear is special. Larísa at the Pink Pigtail Inn is on the hunt for a decent cloak. Relevart's Druid Reliquary talks about epic gear feeling epic. Cynwise points out an important question from the recent dev chat: will we be able to wear a monocle with our top hat? Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Just leave us a comment, and you may see it here tomorrow! Be sure to check out our WoW Resources Guide for more WoW-related sites.

Here at WoW.com, we're on a Daily Quest (which we try to do every day, honest) to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. While we're all skulking about waiting for our servers to come up -- or skulking about on Shadow Council waiting for tonight's RP event -- it seems as good a time as any to talk about pretending to be people we aren't in places we aren't. (Secret: I'm not actually a troll shaman. But do keep it quiet.) Some oldies but goodies from Too Many Annas, covering being left out of RP and the many places RP can go. The Lazy Sniper talks about choosing names for characters. It may not be WoW-centric, but the latest issue of The Escapist is all about roleplaying. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Just leave us a comment, and you may see it here tomorrow! Everyone's still chattering away about the new 31-point talent system, and with the Twitter developer chat last Friday, a few questions were answered -- but even more were raised. Let's take a look at a few more posts regarding the new talent systems and various reactions to it: Empowered Fire shares some thoughts on mage talents. Borsked chats about the newly pruned restoration tree for shaman. Warcraft Hunters Union has some words about the developer Twitter chat in regards to hunters. Honor's Code simply says "Holy Power, Batman!" Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Just leave us a comment, and you may see it here tomorrow! Here at WoW.com, we're on a Daily Quest (which we try to do every day, honest) to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Vol'jin is obviously thinking about something very important. Maybe he's just analyzing plans for the upcoming liberation of the Echo Isles. Or maybe he's thinking about the sheer joy of punching Garrosh in the snoot. Or maybe he's just pondering which is better, cake or pie. Deep thoughts there, Vol'jin -- let's take a look around and see what everyone else is thinking about: Bible of Dreams is thinking about civility, and how it applies to World of Warcraft. The Pink Pigtail Inn has a lot of good thoughts about jumping in game and why people do it. World of Warcraft Philosophized shares some thoughts on group quests and Kantian ethics. The Cataclysm beta client now has the 31-point talent trees implemented, and though they are incomplete in some cases, they feel far better than the earlier, bloated versions that were available. Along with the new changes come a lot of thoughts around the blogosphere regarding talents and what they're shaping up to be: Forever a Noob shares some concerns with the mechanics of the new talent trees. The Mental Shaman has some immediate reactions to the news. World of Matticus clears up the new talents and shares some thoughts on priests. Restokin has some suggestions for druid talent trees. Let's talk about twilight -- no, not the vampire kind, the kind that has wings and breathes fire. Ruby Sanctum has proven to be a relatively entertaining raid, just difficult enough that people are finding it a challenge. Today we've got some posts from around the blogosphere regarding everybody's favorite fuschia dragon, Halion. Tanking Tips has a quick guide to tanking Halion 10-man and 25-man. World of Matticus talks about Halion and the failure rate. Borsked thinks that this is the good Twilight. On an unrelated note, I Like Bubbles has a scientific look at the RNG.

Earlier today Blizzard announced that they will not be requiring real names to post on the official Blizzard forums, and the blogosphere in response breathed a huge sigh of relief. Here's a whole mess of thank-you's and other notes regarding the decision from various bloggers: The Pink Pigtail Inn asks if the wounds can be healed. Empowered Fire is pretty giddy about the results. Achtung Panzercow says "Yub Yub." That's Ewok for "We won." Geek Girl Diva has a short and sweet note to Blizzard. Lorehound asks what we learned from all of this. Warcraftic discusses the Warcraft community and communication. Mana Obscura gives us their thoughts on the power of the fans. HuskyStarcraft recorded a video response to the notice about the decision. Can we go back to just killing internet dragons now? I think so.

But let's take a step back from all the outrage today, take a deep breath and look at what's really important in World of Warcraft: Killing dragons. On the internet. Internet dragons. Let's check out some advice on better and more efficient killing of internet dragons, shall we? Slice and Dice has some tips for helping your raiders improve. The internet today has been awfully, awfully chatty -- which is interesting given the topic. Since Blizzard's announcement earlier today that the official forums would be displaying the real names of players come Cataclysm, people haven't been able to keep quiet about how they are going to be ... keeping quiet once these new forum changes come into play. Let's take a look at a few blogs around the web regarding the new Real ID changes. World of Matticus talks about the good and bad of forum-wide Real ID. Big Bear Butt plans for a Cataclysm -- not the expansion itself, but the changes it brings. Empowered Fire discusses their disappointment in the forum changes. Broken Toys tells Blizzard "You got your Facebook in your message board about my orc game."

Messing with timelines and making "what if" questions out of nowhere. Let's look around the blogosphere at some what-if's and various other speculation, shall we? Tobold's MMORPG Blog wonders what if WoW had an expansion every year? World of Warcraft Philosophized wonders if better gear should look more unique. Aspect of the Hare has a learning experience, specifically the top ten things they've learned since returning to WoW. Looking for More has a top ten list too -- the top ten things they will do if they become a boss.

You may be caught off guard in the image above, but you can still handle yourself around a bunch of dragons. Player versus dragon may be easy for you, but player versus player is often a little more surprising than even a small fleet of dragons suddenly appearing in the throne room of Stormwind. While the advice is no longer timely for Bolvar, lets take a look around the blogosphere for PvP tips for those of us not currently occupied with ... other chilly activities. Spicytuna has some words of advice for frost mages regarding gearing for PvP. The Hunter's Mark talks about PvP specs for -- what else -- hunters! World of Matticus discusses leaping into PvP the correct way. Cynwise's Battlefield Manual fills us in on rated battlegrounds and how to prepare for them.

For many realms, Ruby Sanctum is up and running, and Halion's being smacked around by countless guilds (check out our Halion guide to learn how your guild can smack him around, too). With Ruby Sanctum as the last raid before the release of Cataclysm, players are still looking forward to the Cataclysm beta. With the beta now up and running, players are subject to piles of false email and announcements from people trying to steal valuable account information. With all these scammers trying to worm their way into player's accounts, how about we take a visit to that ever-pertinent blogging topic, account security? Letters from Birdfall has some wise words about security programs and what you can do to avoid the dangers of keylogging. Slice and Dice talks about safeguarding your guild bank. Flame Shock talks about phishing emails, what to look for and how not to write them. Now that we're feeling a little more secure, let's visit Oddcraft and get warm and cozy with a statement from A Basic Campfire.

Take a look at the links below, and be sure to check out our WoW Resources Guide for more WoW-related sites. I love the picture of Velen shown above for a couple of different reasons. It's a gorgeous piece of artwork, but the bigger reason is the expression on Velen's face -- he looks mildly baffled, like he's shrugging his shoulders and saying "Uhhhh, I don't know!" To me, the thought of an alien over 10,000 years making that noncommittal grunt of vague confusion is just endlessly entertaining. It's OK, Velen. Today we've got a few how-to posts from around the blogosphere. Maybe these will clear up a few things: Falling Leaves and Wings fills us in on how to grind Timbermaw reputation. Revelart's Druid Reliquary talks about how to design a heroic encounter. The Healz Squad has a guide on how to stream music through Ventrilo. I Sheep Things discusses how to keep your sanity.

It seems to happen to everyone at some point or another: the game's no longer as exciting as it used to be, and your logins become sporadic and finally vanish entirely. At WoW.com we love World of Warcraft as much as anyone -- but once in a while, everyone needs a break. Even from their favorite game. Today, a few posts on the subject of burnout. Achtung Panzercow discusses the dreaded b-word. Since this blog post has been gathering dust in my "links to use in The Daily Quest" list for a while and Panzercow is still blogging about WoW, it can only be assumed that burnout has come and gone. Or perhaps come and gone and come and gone. Or perhaps... well, you get the idea. Mana Obscura talks about battling burnout. Moar HPS! talks about trying to stay interested. Any tips on escaping WoW burnout to share with us? Leave 'em in the comments!

Patch 3.3.5 is here, and with it comes the introduction of the RealID system, and many, many opinions about the use of it. While I thought the feature was interesting and well worth playing with on the test realms, I do enjoy my privacy -- and until Blizzard introduces an "invisible" setting for the RealID system, I won't be using it. Here's a collection of thoughts by others around the Warcraft blogging community regarding RealID: World of Matticus discusses why RealID isn't for him. The Stoppable Force has some information about RealID, and suggests that people stop with the righteous indignation. Too Many Annas shares some thoughts on privacy, RealIDs and roleplay. Miss Medicina talks about the Patch 3.3.5 patch notes, as well as the RealID system.

Whether pandering to our pyromaniac tendencies or not, who doesn't enjoy a good world event? And if you really don't enjoy world events, well, my apologies -- though I dare say a lot of players find them a fun diversion from the daily grind. Regardless, if you're interested in checking out this year's Fire Festival, we've got you covered. WoW.com has a guide to the achievements and a video guide to killing Ahune. Wowhead has a comprehensive guide to the festival. WoWWiki gives you a rundown on the event's history as well as the quests and rewards. So I pugged my heart out, and at the end of the run of pugs, I was rewarded with a pug, so I could pug when I PUG. Or something like that. Everyone's got something to say about PUGS: Achtung Panzercow says a little randomness never hurt. The Wayward Initiative has some advice for pugging as DPS, and pugging as a tank, too! Big Bear Butt has some team talk for all players, from a tired tank. And for those pugging with pallies, a flowchart courtesy of I Like Bubbles regarding what to do when you are missing pally buffs.

While it may not be coming immediately upon the release of patch 3.3.5, the Assault on the Ruby Sanctum holds the distinction of being the last raid encounter in Wrath of the Lich King, and players have mixed views about its release. Will the Sanctum live up to expectations? No idea, but here's a collection of takes from various WoW blogs: Rhin's Blogspot talks a little about the Ruby Sanctum encounter as seen on the PTR. World of Matticus talks about what the new raid has to live up to -- and what pitfalls the Ruby Sanctum should avoid. And of course there are several different opinions surrounding the loot: The 'mental Shaman talks about loot for the Elemental Shaman. The Hunter's Mark discusses hunter loot. I also enjoy addons. Let's see what the blogosphere has to say about them: And Two Rogues fills us in on Shadowed Unit Frames. Flow has a few words about Power Auras for resto shaman. Blessing of Fish talks about two popular addons -- Grid and Clique. Lastly, Mana Obscura discusses the annoyance of addons, and staying on target.
