I don't remember doing an off-hand for a while, and this is pretty much the offhand to have. Who wouldn't want to carry the universe around in the palm of your hand?Name: Cosmos (Wowhead, Thottbot, WoWDB)Type: Epic Off-handDamage/Speed: N/AAbilities: +52 Stamina, +55 Intellect. Which points at Warlocks (they tend to value Stamina, as they can convert HP to mana), but really any caster who uses offhands would love this one. Because it improves hit rating by 51 (!), crit strike rating by 41, and spell power by 84. %Gallery-33600%

Here's something for you Hunters to go after in the 5-man Trial this weekend.Name: Marrowstrike (Wowhead, Thottbot, Armory)Type: Epic PolearmDamage/Speed: 570-856 / 3.50 (212.3 DPS)Attributes: +106 Agility, +101 Stamina Yellow socket (nice for +Hit gems, though you can put whatever you want in there) with a +4 Agility socket bonus %Gallery-33600%

Not all shields are for blocking. If you're a Shaman or a Pally, this caster shield is probably droolworthy.Name: Wisdom's Hold (Wowhead, Thottbot, WoWDB)Type: Epic ShieldArmor: 8130, 227 BlockAttributes: +70 Stamina, +48 Intellect, which means lots of HP and Mana for you. Improves crit strike by 40, haste by 47, and spell power by 75. Nice set of bonuses there, too. And a blue socket, with a socket bonus of +5 spell power. It's a slight upgrade over Voice of Reason, the other big caster shield near endgame, but enough of an upgrade that you want this one if you can get it. %Gallery-33600%

Let's do a wand! A really, really hot wand, too -- best in slot for most casters in the game right now.Name: Petrified Ivy Sprig (Wowhead, Thottbot, WoWDB)Type: Epic WandDamage/Speed: 414-719 Nature / 1.80 (328.6 DPS)Attributes: +19 Intellect, +22 Spirit, +26 Stamina. Which is actually less than that other big endgame wand, but wait, there's more: %Gallery-33600%

This is probably my favorite name for an item in the game.Name: Last Laugh (Wowhead, Thottbot, Armory)Type: Epic One-hand AxeDamage/Speed: 192-357 / 1.60 (171.6 DPS)Attributes: +37 Strength, +73 Stamina. Interesting -- I don't know if I've ever seen a weapon where the attribute numbers are reversed like that. Probably not done intentionally, but it's an interesting little quirk. %Gallery-33600%

Not all of us get to run around with Val'aynr. But for you mace casters out there who aren't first on your guild's Legendary list, here's another sweet mace to hunt down.Name: Constellus (Wowhead, Thottbot, Armory)Type: Epic Main Hand MaceDamage/Speed: 93-298 / 1.80 (108.8 DPS)Attributes: +55 Stamina, +54 Intellect Blue socket with a +5 Spell Power bonus Improves crit strike rating by 29, restores 19 mana per five seconds, and improves spell power by 587 %Gallery-33600%

Haven't done a shield in a while, so here's a cool-looking one to try for in Ulduar this weekend.Name: The Boreal Guard (Wowhead, Thottbot, Armory)Type: Epic ShieldArmor: 7960 (223 Block)Attributes: +39 Strength, +92 Stamina. Pretty standard for a tanking shield. Two sockets: Red and Blue. This is what pretty much puts this baby over the top in terms of endgame tanking shields -- get some extra Strength, Stamina, and/or Defense in there, and this shield matches up against stuff that drops from the very hardest bosses in the game. %Gallery-33600%

Since Rogues will be able to break out the Axes in patch 3.2, here's one for you stabby-stabby types to start aiming for now.Name: Touch of Madness (Wowhead, Thottbot, WoWDB)Type: Epic One-hand AxeDamage/Speed: 297-552 / 2.60 (163.3 DPS)Attributes: +24 Agility, +52 Stamina Improves hit rating by 34, crit strike rating by 26, and attack power by 92 %Gallery-33600%

This is a nice piece of hefty (as in, anyone can get it, not just the top raiders) loot from Twitter's own @Wibbels. It's a sword from around level 60 with a breathtaking proc.Name: Silent Fang (Wowhead, Thottbot, Goblin Workshop)Type: Rare One-hand SwordDamage/Speed: 45-85 / 1.60 (40.6 DPS)Abilities: There's actually only one, and it's a crazy chance on hit: if it procs (around 5%), the enemy hit is silenced for a full six seconds. Complete silence (no spells, no casting, no nothing) for six seconds, 5% of the time. Pretty awesome, right? Unfortunately, as with everything, there's a catch. %Gallery-33600%

We haven't done a dagger in a while, if my memory serves. Plus, this one is made of stars.Name: Fang of Oblivion (Wowhead, Thottbot, WoWDB)Type: Epic Unique One-hand DaggerDamage/Speed: 271-407 / 1.80 (188.3 DPS)Attributes: +47 Agility, +54 Stamina, and a Yellow Socket, which will probably let you add to crit, hit or haste, depending on what you need more of, with a +4 Agility socket bonus. +1869 Feral attack power, so you can do more damage in your new kitty form. %Gallery-33600%

  • PuG dungeon loot etiquette for dummies

So with the dawn of Wrath, a lot of people have been heading into 5-man dungeons, both the normal and heroic type. They may be after experience, they may be after badges, they may be after achievements, but nearly everyone is also very interested in whatever loot may drop along the way. To add to this, not everyone is so lucky as to have a pre-made 5 man ready to go when they log on for the night. Maybe they're guildless, maybe their guild is off in Naxxramas, maybe their guild is 10 levels below them, but whatever the reason, a lot of people end up looking for the pickup groups to get their dungeon diving done. Anyhow, you probably know what happens next. Pickup group plus loot equals drama. You'd almost think that's some sort of universal constant in WoW. Sure, we've had some great PuGs, but we've had some bad ones too, and those bad ones seem to come complete with ready-made loot drama, and it seems like we're not alone. We're hearing from a lot of people lately who've had problems with loot distribution drama.

  • The Armory changeth

Recently some new features were added to the Armory section of the World of Warcraft website. These changes were put up yesterday, and there is enough here that it's worth taking a second look at. There are lots of nifty new features that make this site a whole lot more useful to players. I can't say whether or not it is yet a contender to the database sites, but we're definitely getting there. The first thing to notice is that the arena team standards can now be visible when you search for teams via the armory. Not only can you see who you came up against, but you can also see their fearsome (and sometimes comical) emblems. It's also nice to see that rating has been replaced by a relevance column. It seems to make more sense that way, and doesn't leave you wondering what you could possibly do to improve your rating.
