Having already made the most obvious joke on the subject, I can only go on to explain that reader Jonathan sent in this excellent shot of an all-zombie raid in the making. Classic!Do you have a unique shot of Azeroth that you'd like to show off to the rest of the world? Tell us about it by e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com! You can attach a picture file or send us a link to one -- and don't worry about formatting, we'll take care of that part.

  • Babes & bikinis & blood, oh my!

The latest installment of the Onechanbara series will debut on Xbox 360 next week in Japan. Is it significant that this cult franchise has jumped from PlayStation 2 to Xbox 360? Has Microsoft finally scored a key victory in Japan? Definitely not. In fact, Microsoft likely prefers to distance itself from this unexceptional achievement. As Onechanbara Vortex opens we find our heroine washing off the day's grime, her schoolgirl sister eyeing the news just as zombies emerge. Newly rinsed, our heroine elects to don a cowboy hat, bikini, and blade, and, joined by sis, embarks on a bloody quest to save the world. The one-button hack n' slasher is rounded out by a dress-up mode. While seemingly an amalgamation of two high-profile titles -- Dead Rising and Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 -- Vortex's budget production likely means the game will never see release outside of Japan.

  • Developer: U.S. Army didn't want vulnerabilities in game

Wired News reports on a new U.S. Army recruitment tool: the PC game Future Force Company Commander. F2C2, in the style of America's Army, is available for free download at developer Zombie or a military page. The story quotes people critical of the game as an unrealistic portrayal of U.S. might. F2C2 showcases weapons and vehicles currently under development; this future firepower pummels in-game opponents in one-sided fights. Enemies also don't learn from your actions -- Zombie was apparently asked to leave this sort of realism out of the title.Games are frequently one-sided; we don't play Halo for accuracy. Commercials are one-sided; advertisers show products in ideal conditions. F2C2 is an advertisement and game about the U.S. Army. Should we expect an even viewpoint? Or does the tax-funded nature of the game -- and other military ads -- make it more accountable to scrutiny?

  • Independent movie about undead Nazis to premiere on PSP

You know it's a slow news day when stories like this make it to the Fanboy. A small independent British film company plans on releasing a film about undead Nazis called "Last Evil," and they plan to distribute it online for free in iPod and PSP format. This isn't the first time an indie film has made its way to the portable before (never) reaching theaters. Although I can't say I'm too confident about a film that shares the same story as Castle Wolfenstein, I have to admit, you can't beat this movie's price of entry.[Via DCemu]

  • The "correct" Dead 'n' Furious trailer

Are you among the chosen few who laid eyes on the "leaked" footage earlier this year from Dead 'n' Furious? You remember that little debacle, with the hair-raising video. Oh, not hair-raising scary. It was just ... shall we say ... not so good? But Dream On Studio promised a "real" video later this year, and here it is. Tell us what you think. The video is nestled away after the jump. And here's a question -- if you're a convict and you pick up a buddy (via WiFi coop mode, which does sound like an awesome feature), just what exactly is your friend? A prison guard? Serial molester? Do you get to pick? These questions are totally valid ....

And that's really about all that has been confirmed for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. Here's what we do know, and it's not much: the game is categorized as "action" (you don't say) and Kawada Masachika, who handled the port of Resident Evil 4 from the 'Cube to the PS2, will be the lead producer. The game also appeared briefly in the Wii preview video that we've been cooing over all day. There are a lot of rumors flying around about the game, naturally. Some people think it's at least a partial remake of the remake of the original Resident Evil (that's a lot of remaking). There's word of an established voice actress lending her pipes to Jill Valentine. And some people say it may even -- wait for it -- have some zombies. Now that's news.Speculate your fanboy hearts out and we'll bring you information as it comes. [Thanks to everyone who sent this one in!]

  • Zombies, Aliens, or Nazis? Designing the perfect game enemy.

The net's full of debate about the perfect game protagonist (ninjas, pirates, or robots?) but too little real debate about what makes the perfect in-game enemy. In comments on yesterday's post about upcoming Xbox 360 (Japan) zombie stomper Oneechanbara, Joystiq reader Gimbal posited that risen corpses may well be the ideal enemy: "Zombies, like Nazis, are the perfect enemy for video games." Zatso? What makes a perfect enemy anyway? The perfect enemy is:
