Fujitsu Lifebook N3530 Core Duo MCE laptop
Fujitsu has added a new box to its lineup of Core Duo-powered laptops, the media-centric N3530. The $1,449 computer has a 15.4-inch widescreen display, 1.66 GHz processor, 100 GB drive, dual-layer burner, and Windows XP Media Center Edition. Alas, as with many so-called media laptops, the TV tuner is optional. Sort of reminds us of those ultralight laptops that require an "optional" CD-ROM drive to do anything useful, like installing software. Listen, Fujitsu (and everyone else playing this game): just make the tuner standard, even if it bumps up the list price. Trust us, we'll pay for it.

Hi Marc,
Our data shows that in desktops, Media Center only took off once the tuner was excluded. The tuner-upgradeable models enable the OEMs to price the systems about $100 less to the public, which really does seem to make a difference.

Actually, I won't pay extra for the tuner. I get my TV via satellite dish; a tuner is completely useless to me, and I certainly don't want to pay extra for one.
Well how long does the battery - that's the question
I don't think optical drives are that important on laptops as long as there is a way to install software through a network. Movies and music can just be on the hard drive.
The specs are nearly identical to my Acer Aspire 5672 except it has a Windows XP MCE and an optional TV tuner. The only difference is that I paid a premium for having it at the beginning of February. :/
