RoboPig!
Some
jobs should be replaced by robots: bomb disposal units,
toll-booth-operators, and anything (we mean anything) to do with the handling of human or otherwise
organic waste. Enter the stainless steel robotic pig developed by Thermo-Systems in Germany. These electrical pigs
specialize in drying sewage plant sludge by constantly giving it a stir thereby accelerating the drying process -- it
even helps prevent rotting to boot. Why dry it? Well, since sludge is mostly water, you can remove 90 to 95 percent of
its mass by drying it which simplifies its removal not to mention the savings in fossil fuels associated with the
transport. The resulting product also becomes an ideal fertilizer since the strong odor has been removed and it’s
virtually free of bacteria. Good pig, here’s a notebook and phone made of corn.

real funny :)
Maybe they can make one to clean downtown DC.
You are SH!TTING me!
That'll do, Pig. That'll do.
They need it to hang out with the robotic spider... the spider can write interesting phrases in it's robotic web...
I love German engineering but does this thing have to resemble a VW bug?
I really have to say that the write up for this story was very informative and to the point. and way more explanitory than most /. summaries today.
I think the next season of Dirty Jobs will still need Mike Rowe...
to #9 - Time to un-pimp ze auto.
do those wheels look inadequate to anyone else? where are the egg beaters?
So let me get this straight - we've got robotic pigs but I'm still loosing my cell phone connection on the freeway?
Sounds like there might be money in them thar pigs...it would be especially cool if the pigs could run off the methane produced by the sludge...
Why didn't iRobot think of this? ;
Somehow I don't think think this pig will fly.
*ta-tum-Ching!*
seriously, we can also extract valuable methane from sewage, a proces which likely works best when the sludge is wet...don't quote me though.
LOL, thats a funny thing :) And you are right Mike, it looks a little like a beetle :D
