Every NES game ever on eBay
This isn't the first bulk sale of hundreds of retro games on eBay, and it certainly won't be the last, but that doesn't mean we're not impressed by the completeness of this particular collection. Currently the bidding is at an impressive $5,200 with just over 6 days to go, which isn't surprising considering what's included: 670 NES games, which the seller claims constitutes "every game ever made" for the Nintendo Entertainment System. If achieving your childhood dream of owning, we repeat, every NES game ever made, isn't enough for you, then you'll no doubt explode when you see that ROB the robot, a Power Glove, a multitude of other accessories, and that essential NES console are all part of the deal. When you wake up in a couple of hours -- after you finish reading this post you'll pass out due to an overwhelming wave of nostalgia, trust us -- you better cross your fingers and check this post's comment's section in the hope that someone has found a flaw in the deal, otherwise you'll be forever jealous of the winner.[Via Digg]

Only problem I can find: He doesn't have "Mike Tyson's Punch-out", only the re-released "Punchout: featuring Mr. Dream"
humpty @ Jan 28th 2007 4:25PM
Well... ive got all the NES roms ever created, and it cost me nothing.
Steve @ Jan 28th 2007 4:27PM
Yup, there's a catch: you only get the empty boxes.
jorge @ Jan 28th 2007 4:37PM
bleh,
I can just download all the roms.
moofree @ Jan 28th 2007 4:40PM
Every LICENSED NES game.
IE: No Tengen Tetris.
Foof @ Jan 28th 2007 5:59PM
Right on Moofree. The first thing I did was scan the image for those weird, black Atari/Tengen cartridges, of which the seller had none.
sc00ter @ Jan 28th 2007 4:42PM

Oh Shit!
NINJA CRUSADERS! Haha, I remember playing that with my cousin for hours back in the day. Good times!
donkeyelephantwar @ Jan 28th 2007 4:57PM
there were 722 games released for the nes. not that it really matters. 670 is still huge. there are games like Domino's Pizza's Yo Noid that just aren't worth having.
danny @ Jan 28th 2007 4:59PM
what's with these fools who go
'' I can download all that ''
Of course you can. you know that, I know that,
my 11years old nephew knows that.
It's the physical collection of original games
that matters.
Why don't you download your girlfriend too.
losers.
Lefts @ Jan 28th 2007 6:33PM
lol.
But yeah this collection is amazing.
grable @ Jan 28th 2007 6:03PM
@danny: Why don't you download your girlfriend too.
Actualy, i did that. and its working out quite nicely.
I can do whatever i want whenever i want without any form of bitching ;)
Rex @ Jan 28th 2007 5:00PM

sc00ter @ Jan 28th 2007 6:36PM

anonymous @ Jan 29th 2007 11:10AM
their is only used when referring to people. They're is short for they are and is being used correctly.
Naris @ Jan 28th 2007 5:23PM
So... who's taking bets that this guy is going to walk away with (probably) more than 10 grand just for being a pack rat?
rx785guy @ Jan 28th 2007 5:26PM
Who wants to take a guess as to how many of those game packs actually have their battery backup still working? Playing Final Fantasy with no saving is going to be a very long experience.
dan @ Jan 28th 2007 5:29PM
its not the same as having a real NES there, but it definatly is a whole load cheaper
T-Spizzy @ Jan 28th 2007 5:32PM
Even "A Boy and his Blob" Alright! Give the blob the licorice flavored jellybean and he turns into a ladder woo-hoo!
Uchiha Sasuke @ Jan 28th 2007 5:41PM
moofree - if you'd look at his other list items for sale he does have Tengen Tetris for individual sale.
What I wanna know is, why would this person part with such a collection? Reggie if you're reading this, how about trading a Wii to this guy for all his Nintendo possesion?
Jonathan Keim @ Jan 28th 2007 5:42PM
Wow, I didn't even realize that some of my games are worth more then PS3 games. Bubble bobble 2 is going for $70 + shipping
russdogg @ Jan 28th 2007 5:52PM
Oh no you didn't. I can't believe a commenter brought up the "Yo Noid" game, haha. That Noid the wackest mascot in history.
Uchiha Sasuke @ Jan 28th 2007 6:17PM
He HAS the tengen tetris, look it up at his list items for sale. It's not part of the auction because its unlicensed.
TAREK @ Jan 28th 2007 6:05PM
engadget just made this guy a little richer.
Eh @ Jan 28th 2007 6:05PM
5,000 bucks for 600 NES games? Sorry but that is TERRIBLY over priced. I guess people are paying a premium for getting them all in one go, or they think this is actually a good deal. Probably 40% of those games would sell for like 50 cents at a used game store since used NES games are insanely overstocked with no one wanting to buy them (that is if the game store hasnt already thrown their inventory out since they were running out of storage room), another 40% would probably be around 2 bucks, then a few rare ones would be worth more than 20 bucks. Youre getting ripped off hard if you pay more than 2000 bucks for them.
Molnek @ Jan 28th 2007 6:06PM
Whoever wins that better be prepared to do a lot of blowing.
Zorque @ Jan 28th 2007 6:30PM
They may have to do a lot of blowing just to get the money.
Scabies @ Jan 28th 2007 6:07PM
Thank you Jonathan Keim for injecting a small amount of PS3 hateration into this discussion. May I remind you that it's also selling for more than any other game in print (including XBOX, GC, Wii, 360, etc)
Honestly, some people will take ANY chance to take a shot at their opponent system of choice... go blog something

Ok, sure, but then again anyone could say "Wow! My Bubble Bobble 2 game is selling for more than a 20 dollar gameboy game!" and no one would be even slightly impressed. It isn't a matter of fanboy-ism or hating the PS3, fact of the matter is that PS3 games are some of the highest priced games on the market, and so the fact that an NES game can beat out PS3 games is price is something to acknowledge. Looking at newegg prices, new PS3 games are roughly 60 bucks per, new Xbox 360 games are 55 bucks per, and new Wii games are roughly 47 bucks per. Therefor, without any biased opinion on what console could be better or worse, one can simply look at game prices and say "It is most significant if my NES game can sell for more than the console with the highest priced games, or in this case the PS3."
Nuff said. Get new batteries for your "Oh teh noes, fanboy" alarm plz.
Foof @ Jan 28th 2007 6:32PM
You're right, the auction is only for unlicensed games. The article title claiming "Every NES game ever made" is inaccurate though, since the unlicensed games are clearly not included in this collection, regardless of the fact that you can buy them separately from him or from thousands of other people around the world.
Derek @ Jan 28th 2007 6:26PM
hmm
what about caveman games, with cronk....??
Anchit Panchal @ Jan 28th 2007 6:35PM

EBT @ Jan 28th 2007 6:48PM
670 is about 3/4ths of the domestic (US) NES library and even if he has a gold championship cart in the set its still overpriced by atleast 2 grand
stellarvelocity @ Jan 28th 2007 6:56PM
i looked but i only saw a SINGLE gold cart. =( i feel bad for that collector. i have both gold zelda's and i love them.
Chuckles McGee @ Jan 28th 2007 7:09PM
"Eh" up there is right. Most used NES games are dirt cheap. It's $6400 now after shipping. I can think of many, many better things to do with that much money. And do you really want a complete set of games? While there were a lot of really great classics for the NES, there also are a lot of stinkers you'd never want to play.
If you don't want to play it on an emulator, you can always take the cheaper, still "real" option: Buy an NES for $20 and pick out the dozens of games you actually want to play for a few bucks each. Just as much fun for under $100.
LOL@NES @ Jan 28th 2007 7:15PM
This is no where close to "ALL" nes games ever made. Unlicensed ones alone - where are the Japanese games? Where are the Euro only games? Where are the 200 in 1 Dizzy games? Many carts actually had several versions made for various reasons. In total there are actually several thousand total NES roms and this does not even count the hundreds if not more homebrew games. This is a "fairly complete" listing of US based NES games in playable form. This is not "EVERY NES GAME EVER FRICKING MADE OMG LOOK!!!!11111 @@@@@@.
Discosis @ Jan 28th 2007 7:46PM
As one of the posters above me pointed out, these appear to be all LICENSED NES games. In various countries (like Australia) there were NES games released that weren't licensed by Nintendo. Still, we can't expect someone to collect all those too ... or CAN WE? :)
coldracerx @ Jan 28th 2007 8:22PM
There is none of the good street fighters in there so this is a flawed collection
I would not pay for an incomplete collection.
This is a waste and could be a trick.
LittleJoe @ Jan 28th 2007 8:43PM
Hey dumb dumb... "Street Fighter" is Super NES. It would seem you're a little incomplete :P
carl @ Jan 28th 2007 8:45PM
or don't download anything and hit up virtualnes.com
Kyle @ Jan 28th 2007 8:55PM
Many of the games are definately missing from his list. Donkey Kong 2 (One of the illest games ever) is missing from his list, although he does have Donkey Kong the original, and Donkey Kong 3.. hes missing 2.
odgit @ Jan 28th 2007 9:04PM
The reason it's selling for so much is because of the people out there who want stuff, and want it now. They don't want to go around searching 20+ stores for that last game they are missing, also they can't be bothered with going through the work of actually gathering it all. They see an Ebay auction for [every nes game etc] and they know that's what they want. They take a look, and end up deciding to give it a go, see if they can get it for a price they deem reasonable. Even though a lot of people are collectors few people are dedicated enough going around searching for them because even though they know a local game store could have a lot of them, they believe that the store can't have all of them. Gathering a collection is hard work, having that tossed in front of them is a dream come true.
