this works great... i was having problems with my wammy bar, and now it works instantly every time. the patch just lowered the sensitivity on it (which was set very high to try and prevent cheaters from holding it down)
And if you don't have XBL? Lol... I don't have X360 :P

if you don't have an xbox360 then why would you need to update GH2 for xbox360?

They should've released it a bit later and tested it instead of releasing a patch since some people can't get it..

I just installed the latest patch for Guitar Hero II, and it crashed my xbox 360. Now I got the three red rings of death. No question in my mind that it was a direct result of the patch. (unless, of course, it was a pure coincidence of timing).
Ok, anyways! Does it cost 6$?
I downloaded it. My whammy is still delayed. I don't think any software patch is going to fix it so it works as well as the PS2 guitars I've used, but it did change the whammying some, just not enough. I still have a delay.

It does not cost anything. Someone earlier in the post was trying to be funny based on the fact that the song download packs cost so much.
The update for whammy is free. Don't believe the hype.

correct spelling or not, "looses" is awkward wording if i ever heard it.
at least it is up here, north of the mason-dixon, where people typically say:"let loose" or in this case "lets loose".
i second the "looses" being an awkward wording sentiment. maybe it's a derivative 1337 sp38k. i must be getting old.
I downloaded the patch and now the game freezes on the loading screen. Anyone know how to fix this?
WTF!?!? THATS what people meant when they say their whammy bars are broken? Me and a lot of my friends have a problem where the whammy bar becomes loose and floppy, i thought THATS what everyone was talking about, wtf. So what about all the people with floppy/unusable whammy bars?
GHII is bricking a TON of consoles, perhaps irrespective of the patch. I have no idea why this hasn't been published somewhere else. There are over 30 reports of brickage in this one thread:

The patch is total crap. Whenever I would get star power, the fucking guitar would automatically use it. And whenever I would use the whammy bar it would end my note. So i smashed that fucking guitar like a rockstar!!! Fucking companies should test their shit out before releasing it!
So either you just wasted like $80 or you're a spoiled brat who doesn't value anything because you get everything you want. Either way, you really shouldn't smash things, bro...
actually, i buy my own shit. i just don't like it when fucking companies release stuff when it's not ready. it's so fucking annoying!!! it's all about, "we need to get this game out or we'll lose a lot of money if we don't meet our milestones", yeah, but when you release a shitty product that fucks things up, you'll be paying more in the end.

um, I like don't have an XBox 360, don't have Guitar Hero 2, and I want to patch this thing (that I don't have, BTW)- oh, and I don't have $6. But I was thinking about getting the patch first and then I can pretend I'm not a looser?
Doesn't seem to have fixed the problem, in fact I only noticed the whammy bar being unresponsive a while after the patch was applied.
Actually, it's more like when dumbasses smash shit because they're immature, spoiled, etc. - They'll end up paying more in the end...
I actually like smashing stuff cause I bought it with my own money...just don't be jealous cause you don't have the money to buy a lot of stuff. My money, my choice to do whatever I want with it.
It just seems wrong to break things. Sure it's your money and that by itself isn't much of a loss, but what you destroyed was the device itself, and everything used to manufacture it. It's like how some parents tell their kids to eat all their food because so many people have none...
Anyway, I'm not trying to lecture you, man. I do understand your frustration with rushed/untested products, but it looks like everyone is having slightly different problems with the patch, so maybe they did test it and just didn't have the same issues.
I never had a problem.
Patch helped out my guitar. I had one that worked and one that didn't, now both work great.
Release day 360 as well, no Red Rings for me.
