LG's 120Hz LCDs now with 52-inches of wood
In that overly-dramatized photo above, LG is touting the wonders of their newest 120Hz LCDs coupled with their latest take on the wooden bezel. The new XCANVAS models share the stylings of their previous wood sets and ship in Korea with 42- (42LY4D), 47- (47LY4D), and 52-inch (52LY4D) panel options. Other than a 178-degree viewing angle, latest XD processing engine, and a USB-host jack for a quick audio or image fix, the machine translated details are notably scant. Fine by us, we're not feeling the whole natural TV thing anyway.

LOL!

There's no content in 120hz, but it does have the advantage of being a multiple of 24, films can be smoother.
But a brown frame makes little sense.

What about video games? You can get 120FPS+ on some games (especially older games!)
Would they end up looking nicer?

And here I am, stuck with my 5-inches of wood....
How jealous am I?

netposer @ Aug 27th 2007 7:50AM
Looks like something out of the hi-fi 1970's home stereo store.

who cares if there's content? I want a monitor like this. And maybe a ps3 for it's cell...
And I need to learn blender. I'll make my own frigging content. And can you imagine compiz fusion @ 120Hz?! AWESOME.
I've been waiting for this for some time. 60Hz is like, so below the human eye. :)
Paul @ Sep 2nd 2007 5:21PM
The human eye can see about 24 FPS so i don't even see the deal with these 120hz monitors!
worm @ Aug 27th 2007 10:27AM
What does refresh rate have to do with blur?

Okay now, if 60Hz is that much crappier than 120Hz then I'd hate to see what normal, SDTV, non-upscaled DVD looks like. Hell, it may not even be viewable. As for the wood frame: FUGLY.

Is that Chicago backdrop?
JSF @ Aug 27th 2007 4:45PM
Yes that is Chicago in the background. We saw a crew filming a group of dancers dressed like that in downtown Chicago a fe weeks ago during Lollapalooza.

"Lucky Goldstar" LOL , snicker , snicker...
