Gigabyte's M528 MID gets unboxed, photographed lots
We've already had the pleasure of checking out the Aigo Patriot in its natural habitat, and now we're finally being treated to the same with its Gigabyte-branded counterpart. The Atom-based MID has been unboxed all official-like over at UMPC Fever, and the photographer didn't even shy away from snapping a few with the lid off. Have a look yourself in the read link below, but don't get too attached -- so far as we can tell, it'll cost you a pretty penny to get it imported from a foreign land.

Far too expensive for the specs. Far better specs on cheaper MIDs.

Is it sad that I don't open this to see what the post is about, but to read comments? Then, when I see no comments, I'll click on another link and come back later to see what people say.

Often the comments are just more amusing than the post, i tend to read the post quickly, read the comments, then go back and read it more in depth after.

Only on boring posts like the ugly phone. 1 Hour 15 Minutes to Christmas.

I've been waiting for this MID for ages, but its taken forever to come out :(

Honestly, they're priced for a very niche market. ~ $450 is really the sweat spot for MIDs like the M528. Until then, a Netbook like the Mini 12 + a N810 is a better alternative, unless you REALLY ( much emphasis ) need that X86 portability.

about 100 days late, several hundred dollars short.
In the end of this summer, when this device was first shown, I would have bought it on the spot. Then it went "poof" for 3 months, while the Aigo device got all the attention - and that device was pretty lame by all reports. However, it does have the head start on Windows XP drivers, which to many people is important not matter what the Linuxheads say.
Now the Gigabyte version is back, but suddenly it does not seem so sexy as it did only a few months ago. Too bad.
